Caulfield uses her voice as a distorted instrument and a weapon, oscillating between playful and eviscerating. The throbbing siren-sound of "Magazine" stands alongside the cut-up vocal fry of "try saying" and the shapeshifting ferocity of "ist halt so," which channels the urgency of protest movements, referencing resistance to the genocide in Gaza while speaking to struggles more broadly, while final track "I'll Ask Her" is a deliberate directness calling out toxic boy's club culture and a tenacious reckoning that hangs over the album at large.Although there are still undeniable "bangers" (like the frazzled rap of "Sicko!" featuring billy woods), URGH often feels hewn with precise cinema. From the bristling techno of "Cursive" to the deconstructed feedback loops of "Life Hex," the album moves between industrial catharsis and cinematic unease, threading a tension that Fair describes as "a remix of itself." This contrasting palette is both a necessary aspect of the record as well as the underlying connective tissue.Though deeply personal, URGH reflects the violent, fractured state of the wider world. Caulfield's lyrics grapple with assault, systemic indifference, and the omnipresence of pain, while also insisting on moments of beauty and solidarity. 2026 release. 16 years after the last Manual full-length, Jonas Munk finally returns with a new album! Jonas Munk released his Manual debut 25 years ago on influential Berlin label Morr Music. Back in the early noughties Munk was a teenager obsessed with the Warp Records catalog, and artists such as Tortoise, Brian Eno and Seefeel. He produced music in his basement studio that was equipped with a few analog synths, some guitar pedals, a sampler and an 8-track Fostex recorder. Early albums Until Tomorrow and Ascend became highly regarded representatives of the European electronica sound at the time - a scene also defined by the likes of ISAN, Múm, Ulrich Schnauss and Four Tet. From the start the Manual sound was characterized by blending glitchy electronics, analog synths and hand-played instruments, such as guitar and piano. Compared to his peers, Munk's productions were always more rooted in the song structures of rock music, rather than branching out of repetitive techno music.

Written and recorded between London and New York from 2019 to 2025, The Living Likeness Of My Electric Daemon finds MIRACLE, the duo of Steve Moore and Daniel O’Sullivan, at their most distilled and uncompromising.
Mixed by Moore and mastered by James Plotkin, the album unfolds as a ten-part song cycle navigating illusion and embodiment, ecstasy and annihilation, devotion and domination, the ancient and the algorithmic. The electric daemon is both an inner familiar and an externalized intelligence: the soul in the machine and the machine in the soul. The record asks not whether technology is sentient, but whether we are becoming its living likeness.
The album’s artwork, created by Turner Prize nominee Mark Titchner, presents a cybernetic mutation of the classical Pietà: Madonna and Jesus are rendered in rubbery black PVC-like material, segmented and articulated with zips, evoking devotion and corporeal fragility refracted through a synthetic, technological lens.
Musically, the album deepens MIRACLE’s singular synthesis of devotional pop, kosmische propulsion and gothic minimalism. Moore’s lattice of analogue and digital synthesisers pulses and corrodes in equal measure. O’Sullivan’s voice moves between incantation and intimacy, hymnal and wounded.
Tracks like “Ambrosia” sets a devotional tone, steeped in alchemical and cellular imagery, where spirit is embedded in matter and matter longs for transfiguration. “Consolamentum Day” draws on the annihilation of the Cathars in southern France, reframing medieval persecution as a recurring psychic event. If you purchased a snake plant, asparagus fern, peace lily, or what have you from Mother Earth on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles (or bought a Simmons mattress from Sears) in 1976, you also took home Plantasia, an album recorded especially for plants. Subtitled "warm earth music for plants... and the people that love them," it was full of bucolic, charming, stoner-friendly, decidedly unscientific tunes enacted on the new-fangled device called the Moog. Before Brian Eno did it, Mort Garson was making discreet music. Julliard-educated and active as a session player in the post-war era, Garson wrote lounge hits, scored the 1969 moon-landing and plush arrangements for Doris Day, and garlanded weeping countrypolitan strings around Glen Campbell's "By the Time I Get to Phoenix." But as his daughter Day Darmet recalls: "When my dad found the synthesizer, he realized he didn't want to do pop music anymore." Garson encountered Robert Moog and his new device at the Audio Engineering Society's West Coast convention in 1967 and immediately began tinkering with the device. "My mom had a lot of plants," Darmet says. "She didn't believe in organized religion, she believed the earth was the best thing in the whole world. Whatever created us was incredible." And she also knew when her husband had a good song. Novel as it might seem, Plantasia is simply full of good tunes. This release marks the first official re-issue of the long sought-a er cult classic. Hearing Plantasia in the 21st century, it seems less an ode to our photosynthesizing friends by Garson and more an homage to his wife, the one with the green thumb that made everything flower around him."My dad would be totally pleased to know that people are really interested in this music that had no popularity at the time," Darmet says of Plantasia's new renaissance. "He would be fascinated by the fact that people are finally understanding and appreciating this part of his musical career that he got no admiration for back then." Garson seems to be everywhere again, even if he's not really noticed, just like a houseplant.

Of course, Mortiis' musical handwriting is ever present. Echoes from the often quite divergent phases of his previous works can be found across "Ghosts of Europa". Yet the creator of musical worlds left hardly a stone not turned in his epic quest for genuinely new ways of expression. As a result, this cinematic and visionary album often feels expansive, strange, and darkly dystopian. In this, "Ghosts of Europa" reflects it's maker's struggles while creating the album - as for Mortiis, these tend to come into existence at the cost of friendships and relationships as well as much soul searching in order to reflect both, the album's general orientation towards electronic and industrial rock as well as the particularly wide range of stylistic influences reaching beyond it's core, the choice of sound engineer fell on a most renowned specialist for precisely such sonic experiences: Luckily, Sean Beavan agreed to mix "Ghosts of Europa". His credits include working with NINE INCH NAILS, DEPECHE MODE, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, GUNS N' ROSES, and SLAYER among many other greats. Just when you think that you have finally figured "Ghosts of Europa" out, Mortiis will surprise you with another facet and fresh aspect of his richly detailed masterpiece.
