Reissue of the 1976 historic collaboration between producer instrumentalist Augustus Pablo and dub engineer King Tubby."If you had to pick one album that best represents the pinnacle of the art of dub, you'd cull the candidates down pretty quickly to ten or 12, and it would get very difficult after that. Few would fault you for ending up with this one, though, which stands as perhaps the finest collaboration between two of instrumental reggae's leading lights: producer and melodica player Augustus Pablo and legendary dub pioneer King Tubby. Among other gems, this album offers it's title track - a dub version of Jacob Miller's 'Baby I Love You So'- which is widely regarded as the finest example of dub ever recorded. But the rest of the album is hardly less impressive. 'Each One Dub', another cut on a Jacob Miller rhythm, possesses the same dark and mystical ambience, if not quite the same emotional energy, as 'King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown,' and the version of the epochal 'Satta Massaganna' that closes the album is another solid winner. Pablo's trademark 'Far East' sound (characterized by minor keys and prominent melodica lines) is predominant throughout, and is treated with care and grace by King Tubby, who has rarely sounded more inspired in his studio manipulations than he does here. Absolutely essential." -Rick Anderson, All Music

- 2LP 140-gram vinyl come in a gatefold sleeve - Including the ORIGINAL versions of Bob Marley's most cherished songs- Featuring nine of Rolling Stone's Top 50 Marley songs of all time- Essay by Dean Rudland (Acid Jazz)- 2 printed inner sleeves featuring previously unpublished photographs. BOB MARLEY is one of those artists for whom it is impossible to divorce their cultural impact from their musical achievement. Marley became the first music superstar from outside the UK or US, his success reached nations that other rock stars didn't, he was truly international, as big in Lagos or Harare as he was in London or New York. As the 1970s dawned The Wailers were finding their way in the musical world and at least part of their work was formed from one of the essential collaborations in Jamaican music. These recordings saw The Wailers working with Lee Perry and the music that they created forms the basis of our unique compilation that made hits and music as vital as anything that would follow. Looking at the history of the music industry in the last 40 years, stardom has internationalised. No longer will an artist's success be restricted to the United States, Europe and Australasia. Beyonce, Kanye West et al are known wherever there is an internet connection. Yet superstars still largely come from the U. S. , and Bob Marley stands out as the only musical star of his magnitude to have emerged from Jamaica, a country whose per capita musical output dwarfs almost anywhere else in the world. He was a unique talent whose music continues to reverberate.

Dennis Brown's Deep Down celebrates it's 50th anniversary with it's first-ever official reissue - a long-awaited return of one of his most treasured and elusive albums, originally released in 1976 on Niney the Observer's imprint. Remastered using analogue machines, this edition restores the warmth, grit, and vitality that define the golden age of roots reggae.Pressed on a special ultra gold vinyl, this anniversary release celebrates the deep tones and pure soul that made Dennis Brown a true alternative to Bob Marley and The Wailers. While Marley carried reggae's revolutionary fire, Brown brought a more romantic and spiritual touch - a sound that would help define what the world now knows as Lover's Rock.By the time Deep Down appeared, Dennis Brown had parted ways with Trojan and was working with producer Winston "Niney the Observer" Holness, a partnership that produced some of the greatest roots reggae ever recorded. Capturing Brown in full creative bloom, the album blends devotional roots messages, soulful vocals, and early hints of dancehall energy. His voice moves effortlessly through the ska-paced 'Travelling Man', the funk-edged 'Open the Gate', and the gospel-tinged 'God Bless Our Soul', while 'Tribulation' and' Shame' reveal the emotional depth that made him one of reggae's most beloved singers.Never released worldwide, the album became one of his most sought-after and collectible recordings.

Development is a classic rocksteady record that barely came out in 1972, Jamaica. One of the rarest of the genre, Development is impossible to find. And even when found impossible to find a good playing copy-the pressing was just flawed. Sutro Park Records is proud to present a newly remastered version of the record, available on vinyl for the first time since it originally came out (probably available for the first time anywhere outside a few record shops in Jamaica). Painstakingly remastered by the great Gary Hobish, over a two-year period of time (there are no tapes, so everything had to be sourced from the best vinyl masters), the resultant vinyl release is a revelation: a must for rocksteady fans, a must for Derrick Morgan fans. An instant classic of the genre. Derrick Morgan was and is (he is still touring) one of the legends of rocksteady music. Bringing the sound from Jamaica internationally, Derrick Morgan had the style, the sound, the songs, the music. Legend has it that his

As 1978 drew to a close, an exciting young artist with a lilting, mellifluous voice burst onto the British music scene, as her single, 'Walk Away', made it's swift journey to the top of the nation's reggae charts. And yet few or any of those who bought the sweetly-rendered record at the time could have been aware that despite her tender age, Marie Pierre was in fact already something of a seasoned professional whose experience both in the recording studio and on the live scene stretched back years. In time, her hit record, produced by the UK's premier reggae producer, Dennis 'Blackbeard' Bovell, would become a staple of the lovers rock sound and when, over the months that immediately followed it's release, a number of similarly impressive singles further demonstrated the extent of her talent. This expanded version of Marie's Love Affair - her one and only album to date- presents her entire Trojan output along with a further two Dennis Bovell-produced tracks, released shortly before and after her all-too-brief spell with the company. Limited edition of 3000 numbered copies on orange coloured 180-gram audiophile vinyl. Peter Tosh was a reggae multi-instrumentalist from Jamaica who was one of the founders of the legendary band The Wailers, together with Bunny Wailer and of course Bob Marley. Equal Rights is his second studio album and the one that propelled him to the top of reggae, cementing him as a potential rival to Marley. That wouldn't quite happen, but Equal Rights is still one of the most influential reggae albums ever recorded. Tosh was a big human rights advocate and the track listing reflects this. Of course there is a version of "Get Up, Stand Up" written together with Bob Marley but "I Am That I Am", "Downpressor Man" (a version of Sinnerman, made famous by Nina Simone), "Stepping Razor" and "Apartheid" all became human rights anthems in their own right. In 1987 Tosh was killed during robbery, leaving reggae fans all over the world wondering what could have been. Equal Rights is available as an expanded 2LP edition including a bonus disc containing rare and unreleased songs previously only available on dubplates.

With their famously tight playing thus sharpened to a razor's edge from touring, the band entered the studio for the long-awaited follow up to their beloved comeback record bigger and more intentional than ever, and armed with lyrics balancing grit and uplift, weight and light. The band pushed each other creatively. Recording felt less like experimentation and more like execution. Every part had to earn it's place. The songs were written to hit hard live - that energy guided everything. "We trust the groove," remarks Jesse. "That's always been our compass." Shark Belly Motel is more than just an album title for The Elovaters and their quickly growing fanbase, it represents a communal state of mind. A metaphysical destination where listeners can transcend the doldrums of everyday life and lose themselves in the rhythms and melodies of the songs. So it's telling that their music has also found followers among the fanbases of iconic legends like Jack Johnson, Jimmy Buffett and followers of Kenny Chesney's "No Shoes Radio" on SiriusXM. It's a place that lead singer and songwriter Jackson Wetherebee and his bandmates have been working towards with their art from the early days playing dive bars in Boston, and continue to strive for today, even as they sell out storied venues like Red Rocks and draw tens of thousands of fans to their shows across the country.

Long out of print reggae album reissued on vinyl. Jah Woosh was one of Jamaica's most distinctive early reggae deejays, emerging in the 1970s as the art of toasting became a defining part of reggae music. Born Neville Beckford in Kingston, he first gained recognition as a sound system deejay before breaking through with the powerful single "Angela Davis." During the mid 1970s, he recorded extensively for producers including Rupie Edwards, Clive Chin, Keith Hudson, and Channel One, releasing a string of influential singles and albums. His debut LP Jah Woosh reached number one in the reggae album charts and established him as a leading voice of the era. UPC: 5036436162123Label: Burning SoundsRelease Date: 6.5.26Format: Vinyl
