Lavender Eco-Mix Vinyl. Every mother has a unique story. One thing is true for every mother, though: There's no deadline quite like a pregnancy. Award-winning Toronto singer-songwriter Abigail Lapell was pregnant with her first child when she booked studio time on Vancouver Island to make an album about motherhood. The nine songs on Shadow Child " one for each month of gestation " had to be ready before then, and her return flight was booked on the last day she could safely fly in her third trimester. Working with producer Colin Stewart (Dan Mangan, Black Mountain), Lapell finished her songs in the studio and on rural walks beside the Pacific Ocean. She enlisted some of her favourite singers, all British Columbians, all mothers: Frazey Ford, Jill Barber, Pharis Romero. They're all people with unique, distinctive voices,? she says, which is what I'm drawn to.? Musically, Lapell was looking for a stark, acoustic sound, as opposed to 2024's Juno Award-nominated Anniversary (recorded in Niagara with Great Lake Swimmers' Tony Dekker) and 2022's acclaimed Stolen Time (recorded in Montreal with Howard Bilerman, featuring E Street Band saxophonist Jake Clemons).Lapell's road to motherhood was fraught, involving years of IVF and a 2023 miscarriage " that she experienced on stage while on tour. (She finished her set.) Her son was born in November 2024. The song cycle of Shadow Child covers joy and loss, using metaphors from Maritime tragedy, little cannibals,? reproductive health, acquiring language, and lives altered by the arrival of a newborn. The title track refers to ultrasound imaging of a liminal person that doesn't quite exist yet,? says Lapell. Their status is ontologically blurry.?Shadow Child arrives May 8 " Mother's Day weekend - on CD, Digital, and Lavender vinyl LP. Singles Hazel,? Shadow Child?, and So Long? roll out starting in January.

Double vinyl, original one-of-a-kind custom color created by United Record Pressing in Nashville TN. 60 minutes run time. Recorded live at Reservoir Studios in New York City, a band of 6 with Alicia Witt performing 13 of her original tracks on piano and vocals, accompanied by guitars, upright bass, drums, keyboards, and winds. A tribute to the extraordinary David Lynch - with whom Witt worked 4 times - and all he taught her about love.
Includes printed record jacket inserts with full lyrics and detailed account of Alicia’s relationship and history with David Lynch, in her own words. Also includes never before seen photographs of typewritten letters she wrote to David when she was seven years old, the year she filmed Dune with him.
Some people change your life in every way that a life can be changed. David Lynch is one of those people. When Alicia Witt first worked with him at age 7 on his classic Dune (1984) she had no idea what he meant to anyone as a filmmaker, nor that she would work with him 3 more times over the course of his life and that he would become one of her greatest influences. She only knew that she had found a kindred spirit and that she loved him.
Between Heaven & Earth is a tribute to his energy, his legacy, and most of all, his love. When Alicia attended his memorial gathering shortly after his passing in 2025, she was struck by the depth of the relationships in that space. The knowing that if you were loved by David, you stayed loved. As those in the room spoke of their shared experience that David was still among them - directing from beyond - Alicia became ever more aware that she was being encouraged to create an album from this space of eternal unconditional love. ‘Use my name,’ David whispered. And so it was.
Produced by renowned producer and singer-songwriter Joe Henry (Emmylou Harris; Milk Carton Kids; Bonnie Raitt; Rodney Crowell), this album was recorded live in studio in 5 days in New York City in January 2026. Alicia Witt on piano and vocals, accompanied by a band of 5 musicians, take you on a sonic journey that could never be recreated, channeling the energy that was brought together in this moment to honor the immeasurable effect that David Lynch had and still has on the world. He was palpably present in every moment of the making of this album. The 13 songs that were chosen reflect everything Alicia feels she learned about love from David - the acceptance, the insistent optimism, the curiosity, and the permanence. The final song, The Director, recounts messages he has sent to her from beyond over the year since he passed away. The songs appear in the order in which they were recorded, as the band drew deeper and deeper into the matrix. All are original works by Alicia Witt, 7 solo writes and 6 co-writes, including Thank You, the first single from the album, written with and featuring Grammy winner John Paul White (Civil Wars).
Between Heaven & Earth takes the listener on a journey to a place where only love is real, hanging suspended amongst the fragments of the day to day life we can see and touch - and another timeline just beyond this one.

A spellbinding and transportive reimagining of works from across Annahstasia's three releases to date: Tether, Surface Tension, and Revival. Her ensemble summoned orchestral grandeur from impressionistic arrangements, conducted by her exquisite voice, one of the most soulful and expressive of our generation. The body of music feels at once from another time and timeless. Her expansive vocal spans breathy whisper to heartbreaking wail, confronting the audience with a waterfall of emotions...mournful, yearning, considerate, scornful, demanding, empathic, full of love.At times we are witness to a channel, at others led into her world, as through two goosebump-inducing chants. On Believer we repeated her refrain, ‘cause I get lonely, you get lonely too, ‘cause I get lonely, can I be lonely here with you?’, until it was impossible to feel alone. The concert was recorded at Glasshaus in Brooklyn, New York on September 20, 2025 for a studio audience of 100 guests. Pressed on 140g black vinyl.

On her new album, Neon Summer Skin, Bedouine, the project of Azniv Korkejian, explores this feeling of safety long before one can fully understand the concept. Written with vivid, honest and intimate imagery after visiting her family in Saudi Arabia, it tells the story of family and upbringing, and mourns the end of her childhood. There is a singular resonance and newfound heft in this music previously unheard in Bedouine’s discography.Bedouine is known for making gentle, lilting folk songs that build fingerpicked guitar melodies into tsunamis of emotion. Her masterful songwriting and timeless melodies have earned her praise from publications like Pitchfork, who said her music “boasts a surreal calm and lived in glow,” and Rolling Stone, who lauded her “humble folk-pop brilliance,” plus an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, and tours with the likes of Fleet Foxes and Father John Misty. While working on the record, Bedouine realized the pain of displacement, of searching for home, has been a throughline in her family history. Other relatives have also experienced this sense of loss as they’ve migrated between Armenia, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. “I felt so frustrated about the places that I'm from becoming war torn or difficult to return to,” she says. “My family has been split apart time and time again.” This realization prompted her to document and honor her parents’ lives and stories.

Beefheart & McQuinn is the new project from UK artist Moby Beefheart aka William Murray (formerly of UK outfit Fur) and Melbourne / Naarm musician Winter McQuinn (Sunfruits, jade imagine). Coming together after a chanced coffee meetup, the musical connection between the two artists is palpable. Sharing a love for the folk and rock sounds of yesteryear without pastiche obsession, Beefheart & McQuinn make contemporary psychedelic folk / soft rock, a rich sonic tapestry of vocal harmony blends and deft musicianship / production.Midtown Downtime is a debut album which explores the tensions of time and productivity in late-stage capitalism. The album is a collection of 10 songs that explore the genres of contemporary psychedelic folk / soft rock, with stacked harmonies over syncopated guitars and occasional synth / drum outbursts. The album has a sound that is familiar yet unique, harkening to both Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and Luke Temple/Carol King. Lyrically the album covers a lot of ground with songs about the squeeze of capitalism coupled with the feeling of isolation and anxiety that the modern world's political landscape can engender, alongside songs of love, friendship and nostalgia. There's a high energy feeling that runs through the 27-minute album's core, an energy that goes hand in hand with the modern era's ever-changing focus & diminishing attention spans, the record asks you to sit down and listen to it all in one go.

For more than a decade and a half, Burlington, Vermont–based guitarist and songwriter Bob Wagner has been a secret-weapon sideman, lending his licks and leads to some of the tightest live acts in the Northeast. This summer, with the release of his debut solo album I’ve Been Down, Wagner steps into the spotlight.
Though the move has been a long time coming. Deeply at home on international tours with Josh Panda and during his foundational stint with Kat Wright and her enchanting retro-soul unit, Wagner was often approached by fans curious where they could find his own music.
“A pretty regular thing that happens at shows is I end up doing a song or two on lead during the night,” Wagner says. “After the gigs, people were always coming up asking where they could see my band.”
I’ve Been Down, due June 12 on Royal Potato Family, captures Wagner confidently stepping into the role of songwriter and bandleader. The album was recorded at The Studio Nashville, home to sessions by artists including The Wood Brothers, Seth Walker, and Steve Poltz.
The album reflects influences from heroes such as Kat Wright, The Wood Brothers, and Sturgill Simpson, while remaining rooted in Wagner’s vivid storytelling. The sessions gained a bit of Nashville magic when Simpson’s telecaster-slinging guitarist Laur Joamets dropped by to contribute to three tracks. Additionally, Oliver Wood and Jano Rix of The Wood Brothers were enlisted.
On the lead-off track, “Sad & Lonesome,” Wagner croons like a broken-hearted cowboy while the band whips up a dose of psychedelicized funk, punctuated by a swaggering solo from Joamets.
Joamets also adds pedal steel to the contemporary murder ballad “Richest Man on Earth,” which Wagner conceived while driving home with a newly purchased 100-year-old Oscar Schmidt rubber-bridge guitar.
Another standout, “Good Night & Good Luck,” inspired in part by protests in Portland, Oregon, during Donald Trump’s first presidential term, offers a meditation on an injured America delivered by a band firing on all cylinders.
The album’s title track carries the longest history. Wagner first wrote “I’ve Been Down” more than two decades ago during a difficult chapter in his life. Over time, the song evolved into something closer to an uplifting spiritual. Recorded live in a single take with no overdubs, it features Oliver Wood on vocals and Jano Rix on piano.
Beyond the album, Wagner remains deeply embedded in Vermont’s music community, serving as bandleader for the Hug Your Farmer concert series, which raises funds for agricultural initiatives across the state. He will also tour as one of two guitarists in Phish bassist Mike Gordon’s solo band.
With I’ve Been Down, Wagner steps forward under his own name for the first time — but the record carries the weight of years spent sharing the stage.

Caught between the Canyon and the Caribbean, Cathy Hamer's pair of extremely private LP's got lost in the Me Decade's hippy hangover. Tracked in '79 and '80 at Roanoke, Virginia's custom bluegrass powerhouse Threshold Recordings, these 11 originals breeze through all colors- folk, country, yacht, etc-of the cosmic American rainbow. Remastered LP comes housed in a tip-on jacket with accompanying booklet of notes and the precious few photos that survived from Hamer's brief time as a lady of the canyon, full of dreams and nowhere to go.

Hurts Like Hell is Charlotte Cornfield's sixth album, the first she's recorded since the birth of her daughter, an inflection point for her as a person and an artist. The album's recurrent themes of personal growth and renewal, of love's perseverance through difficulty and shame and awkwardness, are rooted there. "That experience has pulled me out of myself and given me a different outlook on things," she says. "The vulnerability and fragility and wildness of it all has made me less focused on self, more zoomed out." Hurts Like Hell is the most open-hearted, full-voiced album of her career, and also her most collaborative. Decamping to Philip Weinrobe's Sugar Mountain studio in Brooklyn, Cornfield was joined by a full backing band, including Palehound's El Kempner, Lake Street Dive's Bridget Kearney, Adam Brisbin, and Sean Mullins, with key contributions by Núria Graham, and Daniel Pencer. Cornfield then recruited Feist, Buck Meek, Christian Lee Hutson and Maia Friedman to sing on the album. The fruits of this process are immediately apparent on lead single "Hurts Like Hell," a country-saturated yearner Cornfield calls "a shy people love story," the band swelling to embrace Cornfield's idiosyncratic flow as if to cradle her protagonist's heart. That the song is so vulnerable, so lived-in, is a matter of trust between Cornfield and her bandmates, in each other and of their gut. Their sound lands somewhere between Nashville Skyline and Harvest; a warm, richly-textured response to her bruised-but-seeking call. Much of Hurts Like Hell's magic happens in the space Cornfield makes for harmony. Taken up by Meek or Hutson, characters are sung into life as if with a brushstroke. When joined by Kempner or Kearney, it's a dazzling facet of the natural, lightning-in-a-bottle chemistry of her band. On "Kitchen," Friedman mirrors Cornfield's sense of astonishment at finding herself in love, rendering the emotion at it's ethereal peak. On "Living With It," she's joined by Feist, who Cornfield connected through a group chat for mothers who are touring musicians. Cornfield has arrived at this album bearing both scars from her past and hope for the future. Standing outside of herself and taking stock of what she wanted her music to be in the wake of childbirth, she was brave enough to ask for space, for time, and for help from places and people familiar and unexpected - a group chat, songwriters she was fans of but wasn't acquainted with, friends whose long-forgotten song leant her the chorus for a new one. Every "yes," every voice memo, every shared file, every open door leading to this moment in Charlotte Cornfield's career. Call that moment what you will - an expansion, a rebirth, a breakthrough - Hurts Like Hell is big enough to meet it and has lost none of Cornfield's charm, wit, or urgency in the offing, at once a reaffirmation of her standing among the great singer-songwriters of her generation and the first articulation of her future, whatever uncertainty and love it may bring.
