Ten years ago, Anderson.Paak didn't just release an album; he staged a full-scale takeover of the soul and hip-hop landscape. Released on January 15, 2016, Malibu served as the definitive arrival of an artist who had spent years grinding in the underground before a star-making turn on Dr. Dre's Compton. While his previous work hinted at his potential, Malibu was the moment the world met the "Cheeky Andy" persona in full-a virtuosic drummer, a raspy-voiced crooner, and a sharp-witted rapper all rolled into one. The album is a sprawling, sun-drenched journey through the Southern California coast, blending 1970s funk, church-reared gospel, and gritty boom-bap into something that feels both nostalgic and entirely futuristic. With a heavyweight production lineup including 9th Wonder, Madlib, Kaytranada, and Hi-Tek, the record maintains a warm, analog texture that was a breath of fresh air in an increasingly digital era. It's an album that breathes, full of intentional imperfections and the kind of "in-the-pocket" groove that can only come from a seasoned live performer. Beyond the infectious, dance-floor-ready energy of tracks like "Am I Wrong" and "Come Down, " the album is a deeply autobiographical masterwork.Paak uses the 65-minute runtime to unpack his life story with startling clarity, touching on his mother's gambling addiction, his father's incarceration, and his own brushes with homelessness with a sense of resilience that never feels heavy-handed. He weaves these heavy themes through a lens of triumph, grounded by vintage surfing documentary samples that give the project it's cinematic, coastal atmosphere. It's a celebratory record born out of struggle, anchored by his impeccable technicality on the drums and a guest list-featuring ScHoolboy Q, Rapsody, and The Game-that feels hand-picked to complement his specific brand of West Coast swagger. A decade later, Malibu stands as a modern classic and the blueprint for the soulful revivalism that would eventually lead.Paak to global superstardom and Grammy-winning heights. It remains a testament to the idea that the most profound music often comes from the most personal places, proving ten years on that the best way to move forward is to stay rooted in the groove. 10 Year Anniversary 2xLP, Pop-Up Gatefold Jacket, pressed on Tangerine, Olive Green and Brown 3 Color A Side B Side Vinyl.

Limited edition of 7500 numbered copies on translucent yellow coloured 180-gram audiophile vinyl. Bill Withers was a modest, gentle, and yet towering musical figure responsible for some of the most important, universally known soul hits ever written. It's no wonder that "Just the Two of Us" and "Ain't No Sunshine" won him two Grammy awards and undoubtedly played a huge role in getting him inducted into both the Songwriters and Rock and Roll hall of fame. Just As I Am is Withers' debut album and is by all measures a brilliant first outing. The record features twelve tunes of which most are Bill's own compositions, each song a reflection of his unique introspective, folky take on soul music. By far the most famous song on the album is the smash hit "Ain't No Sunshine", originally released as a B-side to the tune & "Harlem" in 1971. It turned Withers into a worldwide soul icon, so much so that the song won him a Grammy for Best R&B Song in 1972. Considering the other single on the album is "Grandma's Hands", it's not hard to understand why it's ranked #304 on Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. This edition includes a booklet featuring a reflective essay on Bill Withers written by writer, poet and civil rights activist Kevin Powell.

1-800 FANTASY is the third studio album from producer, artist, and visionary, Blk Odyssy. In what represents somewhat of a sonic shift for Blk Odyssy - from the dark, brooding blend of R&B & G-Funk to a brighter, warmer and more upbeat Alternative leaning sound - the concept album tells a coming of age story of a teenage boy in the 90s navigating the unfamiliarities of love and lust. The 13-track album includes the previously released singles, "WANT YOU," "XXX (feat. Wiz Khalifa)," "STANK ROSE (feat. Joey Bada$$)," & "CHANGES" - as well the song, "PHASE," which was premiered via COLORS. This latest project marks a pivotal moment in BLK's career, cementing his role as a forward-thinking artist who continues to push the boundaries of R&B and beyond. "Between exploring a new level of storytelling and also a new world of production and songwriting, this record has been a new chapter for me as an artist." Blk Odyssy says about the new album. With every morning comes the night. Cautious Clay ushers in a new phase with his conceptual series The Hours, exploring the feeling, color, and emotional landscape of each hour of the day. Limited vinyl LP pressing. Dan Penn has curated this new collection of lost gems from his own songwriting sessions. Co-writer of such classic Country, Soul and Pop classics such as "Do Right Woman," "Cry Like a Baby," "I'm Your Puppet," "Out of Left Field," and "Dark End of The Street," Dan Penn spends his time these days retrieving, dusting off, and occasionally releasing lost gems from his many songwriting sessions. Having made only a handful of albums over the course of his long career, his demo session recordings have become legendary primarily because of the versatility and range of his voice, and it's ability to sell a song. They have long been sought after by enthusiasts and collectors, and more and more of these tracks have seen the light of day over the past decade. This new compilation, curated by Penn himself, begins with the title track, "Smoke Filled Room," an unheard signature classic which could have been written in the heyday of Memphis and Muscle Shoals, before it runs the table from straight up southern gospel to blues and power ballads. Through it all, as always, Penn's voice delivers-and how.

Ride With Pride So what is Sweet Soul? Maybe the sweet spot between lowrider and symphonic soul? Lush yet vibrant pro- duction, seemingly wrapped in audible silk, sure to give every listener pause. Either way, if one thing is certain, it's purpose stays perfectly clear. Pleasure, low and slow, bajito y suavecito. Every kiss begins with soul, or sweet soul for low rides. Sweet soul is the predecessor to what we now call modern soul. It came into it's own in the late '60s and '70s, alongside-but apart from-the grittier, funk-driven soul dominating the airwaves. Where that music pushed hard rhythms and raw emotion, sweet soul softened the edges. It favored melody, warmth, and Polish, giving it a calm, lush feel that made it easy to return to, and easy to love, even de- cades later.
