Love Forever, our 2025 set of demos from Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jackie DeShannon, set collector hearts a-flutter all over the world with it's collection of introspective, folk rock-flavored tunes drawn from her unreleased recordings for Metric Music Publishing. Now, we're one-upping ourselves with Girl of Yesterday-Acoustic Folk Demos, a collection of COMPLETELY UNRELEASED acoustic folk demos from Jackie, taken from the same rich source of material. Folk music came naturally to Jackie. She got her start singing gospel at home and in church as a child in her native Kentucky, and then singing country songs in her teens on her own weekly radio show. And her first, self-titled album for Liberty in 1963 consisted entirely of folk repertoire. But that album only featured folk songs written by other artists. Girl of Yesterday-Acoustic Folk Demos, on the other hand, presents a dozen tunes, all penned by Jackie for an album distributed by Metric in 1964. Accompanied only by her own accomplished fingerpicked acoustic guitar, DeShannon delivered a stunning set of heart-rendingly sung, haunting music imbued with the doubt, confusion, and excitement of finding adult identity. Although grounded in acoustic folk, it looked forward to both folk-rock and the singer-songwriter era in it's lyrical maturity and melodic complexity. Only 500 to 1000 copies were pressed in November 1964, it's availability limited to various A&R personnel and other music industry staff who made decisions with recording artists looking for material. With Girl of Yesterday-Acoustic Folk Demos, this remarkable material finally gains the exposure it deserves. Among the highlights are a couple of songs that were soon covered by famous artists. Certainly the most renowned is "Don't Doubt Yourself, Babe," given a Bo Diddley beat by The Byrds (Jackie was a huge Byrds booster and fan) on their Top Ten 1965 debut album Mr. Tambourine Man, though it was titled "It's Gonna Be All Right" on her far folkier arrangement on the original Metric Music demo LP. And Marianne Faithfull covered the superbly bittersweet "With You in Mind" on her 1967 album Love in a Mist. We also hear the first appearance of "Splendor in the Grass," later a 1966 DeShannon single given backing by The Byrds. Richie Unterberger's notes feature candid recollections from Jackie about the motivations behind the songs and the vibrant, mid-'60s LA scene from which they emerged. Remastered by Mike Milchner at Sonic Vision and featuring photos from Jackie's private collection, Girl of Yesterday-Acoustic Folk Demos is available in a beige vinyl edition or on compact disc. A missing and utterly charming chapter in both Jackie's own evolution and the progression of American folk and pop to more sophisticated forms.

Jobi Riccio is stepping into her next chapter with Face The Feeling, her forthcoming album on Yep Roc Records due May 15. An "Emerging Act of the Year" nominee from the Americana Music Association and a John Prine Songwriters Fellowship honoree, Riccio first broke through with her 2023 debut Whiplash, a coming-of-age record rooted in folk and country traditions. On Face The Feeling, she pushes far beyond those foundations, embracing a bolder, electric, indie-rock-driven sound that mirrors the album's emotional depth. Where Whiplash captured the restless search for escape, Face The Feeling finds Riccio choosing to stay, confronting grief, rage, self-doubt, desire, and devotion head-on. Written between Colorado and Nashville and co-produced with longtime collaborators Isaiah Beard and Jesse Timm, the album balances light and dark, restraint and release, as Riccio leans into discomfort as a path toward growth. Songs like "Pilar, NM," "Wildfire Season," and "Doesn't Matter" reveal an artist willing to sit inside complicated feelings rather than outrun them. Having performed at the Grand Ole Opry, made her national television debut on CBS Saturday Morning, and toured with Lucius, Jason Isbell, and Iron & Wine, Riccio arrives at Face The Feeling with clarity and confidence. The result is her most expansive work yet: a fearless excavation of self and a declaration of artistic evolution.

2011 collection from the late Folk/Pop superstar. This collection features all his great hits and ends with Denver's biggest songwriting success, 'Leaving on a Jet Plane', which now seems inseparable from Peter, Paul & Mary. But to hear Denver sing it, it's not a sunny, hopeful radio single. There's a real weight in his voice, as if he genuinely doesn't "know when I'll be back again," and the thought of being separated from his love is terrible and crushing. John Denver's got a way of feeling everything that seems almost alien in the cold environs of the 21st century, and - unabashedly earnest and easy listening as it is - the Ultimate Collection is a fine reminder of a gentle voice from another time and place. Includes 'Annie's Song', 'Rocky Mountain High', 'Take Me Home, Country Roads', 'My Sweet Lady' and many more. Sony.

The result is Miller’s most ambitious work to date — a spacious, textured collection, blending road-worn storytelling, fuzzy atmospheres, and reflections on movement, memory, and change. Rooted in his West Virginia past yet shaped by constant travel, The Great Unknowing captures an artist trusting the process, embracing risk, and letting the groove lead the way.

Where Jose Gonzalez’s previous record Local Valley turned inward toward place, language, and personal reflection, Against the Dying of the Light widens its gaze, becoming an urgent call to preserve the light of humanity with all its flaws, at a moment when technology increasingly shapes how we think, feel, and relate to one another.Across the album, Gonzalez works within a deliberately minimal framework, pushing his familiar palette to new heights through subtle variation, restraint, and detail. Each song unfolds with its own distinct character, proving how much emotional and musical range can be achieved within self-imposed limitations. Written in English, Swedish, and Spanish, the record reflects his Swedish-Argentine roots and frames its humanist message as a global one rather than a purely personal or political statement.Jose Gonzalez is one of the most quietly influential artists of our generation. The Swedish-Argentine artist has built a singular musical world from hypnotic, minimal guitar work and his unmistakably gentle voice - a sound that has become deeply personal to millions of listeners worldwide. With billions of streams across platforms and hundreds of thousands of physical records sold, Gonzalez's songs often act as emotional landmarks. Ask almost anyone, and they can name at least one of his tracks tied to a defining moment in their lives.

Somewhere between Sandy Denny's arresting clarity and Vashti Bunyan's gentle depth sits the luminous voice of Australian folk diviner Leah Senior. While the style and instrumentation of '70s Brit folk are touchstones on Senior's forthcoming album, Pt. Roadknight, her disarming lyrics are fresh and wholehearted, wrestling with modern concerns of gentrification and isolation while finding solace in the quiet beauty of the Victoria surfcoast town where she lives. Though this is her first album with a U.S. label (released jointly by SPINSTER and Australian label Third Eye Stimuli), Leah Senior has been a shining star of the Australian folk scene for the past decade, touring extensively and sharing international stages with the likes of Wilco, Iron & Wine, Simon Joyner, Jessica Pratt, and King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard. On Pt. Roadknight, her fifth studio album, Senior explores her introspective, nature-loving side while honing the singular baroque psych folk that has captivated listeners around the world.

Seelie Court - the world's premier label for rare and previously unreleased archive recordings of underground folk, rock, proto-metal, and psychedelic music present Lifeblood - Be Thou My Very Armour. Recorded in the winter of 1971 at Gooseberry Sound Studios, a tiny four-track room tucked away in a Gerrard Street basement, this album captures Lifeblud at a decisive moment. The band had already been together for several years, refining a sound that blended British folk roots with emerging progressive ideas. These recordings present reworked versions of earlier songs alongside more expansive material, shaped by bowed strings, 12-string guitar, Mellotron textures and extended instrumental passages. There's a strong sense of exploration throughout: medieval-tinged melodies sit next to heavier sections, reflective lyrics give way to long, flowing codas, and the playing balances intimacy with ambition. Made during a single long session, the performances retain the rough edges and spontaneity of the time. Half a century on, these tracks stand as a rare document of a band operating just below the surface of the early-70s progressive scene, capturing both their musical identity and the moment before it slipped away. Magic Tuber Stringband act in communion with the natural world around them. Highly skilled players and writers, the trio are leaders within the burgeoning Avant-Folk world. Growing up in Appalachia studying the folk traditions of the region in tandem scientific and observational work in nature, their music appears to weave in and out of the fabric of the landscape. The ensemble continues to stretch the parameters of acoustic instrumental expression with masterful flourishes of dense, textural arrangements, subtle minimalist gestures and deft improvisation. Heavy Water addresses the impact of nuclear production on the environment and the communities within, a musical evocation of destruction and resilience, an embrace of dissonance and tension within moments of transcendence. The inspiration for Heavy Water is rooted in fiddler Courtney Werner's work as an ecologist in rural South Carolina.Werner explains:"The town of Ellenton, South Carolina was the largest of the towns displaced in 1952 by the U.S. federal government to build the Savannah River Plant, which produced radioactive materials for U.S. nuclear weapons during the Cold War. The former site of Ellenton was dedicated to the extraction of 'heavy water,' whereas other areas of the plant focused on manufacturing weapons-grade plutonium and tritium within nuclear reactors. Heavy water is chemically altered to be denser than normal water and is incredibly expensive and time-consuming to synthesize, requiring 52 gallons of river water to produce one fluid ounce. It's denser properties made it valuable for use within the nuclear reactors on the site."Heavy Water is more than a collection of songs. It is a work whose compositions are entirely modern. Played on traditionally folk acoustic instruments, it defies expectations and emotionally addresses the pain of lives human, flora or fauna irrevocably changed by dominant forces and defiantly persevering.

Marisa Anderson's music transcends borders. The topography of her work interrogates the intersections of artistry and expression with form and tradition. Anderson crafts pieces bursting with equal parts reverence and curiosity, contouring familiar shapes into work that is wholly her own. Anderson has spent decades mining the veins of the complicated, interconnected American folk traditions she was steeped in from a young age, stretching beyond those traditions and incorporating the vocabulary and techniques of vernacular folk music from around the world into her work. Eschewing replication or revival, Anderson's music lives in conversation with tradition. "My approach to tradition is with the hands that I have and the history that I have," notes Anderson. "In that way it's a collaboration-you don't go into collaboration trying to play like the other person, you go in trying to find out how to play together."The Anthology of UnAmerican Folk Music is drawn from nearly one thousand songs culled from the private record collection of the late Harry Smith. For this record, Anderson works on music from places that the United States has been in conflict with since 1970: Southeast Asia, the USSR and the Arabic and Islamic regions of the world. In Volume 1 Anderson presents her own deeply personal iterations of nine songs from the Anthology. Composed, transcribed and arranged through a process of trial and error, deep listening and research, Anderson charts a musical course across the globe. Each piece on the album stands as a dialogue between Anderson and the original source recordings, refracted through the prism of her unique musical lens. Anderson's contribution to this dialogue ultimately invites asks: "Who are the people we've been told in our lifetimes are "unamerican?" What have we lost or been denied access to in the fallout from that label?"

Some of the richest music is also the hardest to categorise. With their fifth full-length "Acou", Moon Far Away embark on a musical exploration of the magical nature of sound. The band from the sub-arctic city of Arkhangelsk in Russia's north is studying the mythological cycle of the universe by assigning certain sounds and musical styles that range from the archaic and folklore to liturgical, classical, and even experimental music to each stage of it's existence. Moon Far Away were inspired by the finding that the world begins and ends in many ancient legends with a sound - from the utterance of a word to actual music or even the big bang of science. On "Acou", which means 'listen!' in Greek, the word (lógos) and music (mousike) are as fundamental to the fabric of the universe as the classical elements of earth, fire, water, and air. Moon Far Away have occasionally been referred to as "the heart of Russian gothic folk" or "The Russian Dead Can Dance", which are notions that still ring true regarding "Acou". Their music appears to be both light and even dreamy on the surface, yet at the same time it comes with a dignity, gravitas and passionate seriousness that set these songs apart from simple pop; despite sounding captivating and melodic. With "Acou", Moon Far Away present their richest and most complete album so far that will find old and new friends from a wide range of stylistic preferences that certainly include fans of DEAD CAN DANCE, ALCEST, WARDRUNA, and many others - although the unique band from Russia's North does sound different from all of those mentioned above. There is only one way to find out: "Acou"! Listen!

After a critically acclaimed debut album, Well Dressed Exile: Second Humming (2021), Mô'ti tëi returns with Ant 1: The Scam of the Mystical Cicadas, a pivotal album that is darker, more danceable, and more assertive. This new opus reveals an artist who has been forged by high standards and doubt, but who now fully embraces his voice, his lyrics, and his vision. This second album explores a new intensity: the lyrics are deeper and more serious, reflecting an era and a state of mind marked by the fractures of the world as much as by intimate wounds. But this darkness is counterbalanced by a powerful rhythmic energy, where the guitar plays a central role and infuses an irresistible groove reminiscent of both Sting's rock anthems and Eddie Vedder's melodic depth."Ant 1: The Scam of the Mystical Cicadas" is an album of contrasts and energy, a sincere journey where each track opens a door, where each lyric leaves a luminous scar. It's a record that confirms the obvious: Mô'ti tëi is now one of the most unique and demanding voices on the French independent scene.

In the late summer of 1925, pioneering producer Ralph Peer directed a series of recording sessions atop the George Vanderbilt Hotel in Asheville, North Carolina that would become the stuff of legend. They were the first commercial recordings ever made in Appalachia and included several influential "old-time" musicians (Wade Ward, Ernest V. Stoneman, Bascom Lamar Lunsford, Kelly Harrell, and Henry Whitter) alongside regional prize-winning fiddlers, banjo players, harmonica soloists, and even visiting vaudeville and pop performers like Emmett Miller and the Carolina Club Orchestra. The immensely entertaining and historically important records they produced include mountain ballads, folk tunes, ragtime instrumentals, novelties, and more; and yet, these recordings have been overlooked for a century because of their extreme rarity and technological limitations. Peer would go on to direct the famed 1927 Bristol Sessions, widely considered the "Big Bang of Country Music" - but these 1925 Asheville recordings lit the fuse. The long-play 84-minute CD includes 28 complete selections, meticulously restored from the original discs with no artificial enhancements, and a 128-page hardback book by renowned scholars Ted Olson and Tony Russell, telling in detail the fascinating story of the 1925 Asheville Sessions with dozens of rare photographs, a complete discography, song lyrics, color reproductions of all original labels, and biographies of all session participants. Also available as a vinyl 2-LP set.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band-formed in 1966 as a Long Beach, California jug band that scored it's first charting single in 1967 and embarked on a very successful self-propelled ride through folk, country, rock 'n' roll, pop, bluegrass, and Americana-is currently on the second year of it's All The Good Times: The Farewell Tour. Released digitally on October 24, 2025, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Night After Night EP was recorded at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, and The Tractor Shed Studio in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, and was mixed by Sean Sullivan alongside the band's cofounder Jeff Hanna and Jerry Douglas. The new EP is a family affair for Hanna who co-wrote three of the new songs. "Nashville Skyline" was co-written by Hanna, his wife and celebrated songwriter, Matraca Berg, and his son and bandmate Jaime. While Jeff Hanna takes on lead vocals on three of the five tracks, Jaime steps up to the center microphone on the other two.

"Sumatra" is a powerful Folk-Americana collection that blends blues, gospel, and folk influences into a rich acoustic tapestry, featuring collaborations with the Blind Boys of Alabama, Valerie June, Josh Neumann, and James Falzone. Steeped in storytelling, the album explores themes of aging, love, loss, ancestry, humor, and hope, beginning with a Gregorian chant and culminating in an emphatic rendition of "Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me 'Round." Timely and thought-provoking, "Sumatra" offers a countercultural message of grace and shared humanity, inviting listeners to reflect on what connects us in a divided world.
