"I Love You Always No Matter What Happens" is the hotly anticipated debut LP release from New Orleans-based siren and songwriter Gina Leslie, a follow-up to her beloved 2022 EP "No, You're Crying." Through 10 songs, Leslie explores the depths of her inner world and leaves it all on the table, wrapped in luscious soundscapes, gorgeous harmonies, and tender, insightful songwriting. Floating between country and jazz, this album encapsulates many sonic worlds with a range of tones and emotions. Recorded alongside co-producer and multi-instrumentalist Nat Smith at his home studio in Nashville, this raw and expressive album is like a hug to the wounded child within-an olive branch, a white flag. "I Love You Always No Matter What Happens" is not only a mantra to the self, but a call to reclaim self-acceptance in a society hell-bent on telling us we aren't good enough. Jump in, the water's warm.

First press on vinyl! Have A Great Life, the 2019 album from Harley Poe.This Horror Folk Punk album is cheerfully morbid, with songs that all border on grotesque, creepy, or melancholy paired with upbeat music. A slight edge of classic horror in metaphors about life & love. -K. McLaughlinBest of 2019: Harley Poe is a controversial group in the Folk Punk scene, due to their lack of filter when it comes to lyrical content. For me, I see the artist using certain metaphors as a sardonic view on the world, and the writer's inner demons, while others feel as though their use of said metaphors can be a trigger. Either way, this album, absent of most of the "problem" lyrics, has Harley Poe right back where they are comfortable: Horror mixed with Folk Punk and Sarcasm. The intro guitar to "Eat Shit and Die" really takes the cake for me, musically, and the washboard compliments it so well, which blend together for a perfect base for Joe's intelligent, yet controversial, lyrics to blend into my favorite track of the album. -David Wilkins, Punk News50 Best Records of 2019: When it comes to quality folk punk bands there's not a lot to find anymore, especially with artists like AJJ (Andrew Jackson Jihad) and Against Me! Shifting their focus from the genre. Perhaps that's why this album sounds so refreshing? It's not that the group is doing something new for them, it's still catchy, mostly up-tempo tracks focused done on acoustic instruments and focused on dark subject matter. Even though the style has been done before, there's still something to be said about how great dark themes played over music backed by instruments like a kazoo or a glockenspiel can deeply impact the listener and even serve as a type of therapy. -Medium

Welsh multi-instrumentalist and producer Huw Marc Bennett sinks his hands deep into the soil of South Wales, reimagining traditional melodies from the Morgannwg/Glamorgan region through an earth-toned palette of folk, jazz, and psychedelic roots. 'Heol Las' is ancient music seen through a modern prism; acoustic textures rubbing up against hypnotic grooves, field-worn stories refracted into new shapes. Every track on the album is either drawn directly from, or woven around, archival tunes of the region. Bennett's approach is reverent yet expansive, pulling history into the present while staying grounded in community, landscape, and lived culture. Bennett says, 'On this record there are versions, interpretations, and tunes influenced by cerddoriaeth werin, the folk music of Morgannwg; The place I was born, I was raised in, and revisit to feel grounded. The melodies you hear were given, found, and invented.'Tracklisting:A1. Carol Haf (Summer Carol)A2. y Fedwen (The Birch) A3. Can y Saer Maen (Stonemason's Song)A4. Originally released in 2020, Japanese singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ichiko Aoba's seventh studio album, Windswept Adan, was a critically acclaimed masterpiece that firmly established her on the global stage. Marking a significant departure from her earlier, more solitary works, Aoba collaborated with composer Taro Umebayashi to craft a mesmerising and richly imaginative concept album that moves fluidly between ambient psych-folk, chamber classical, and jazz-inflected composition. Conceived as the soundtrack to an imaginary film, Windswept Adan follows a young girl exiled from her homeland to the mythic island of Adan - a lush, otherworldly place filled with strange creatures, abundant flora and fauna, and no spoken language. It's orchestral textures and vivid sound design create an immersive, cinematic world. The iconic cover art reflects the album's intricate world-building, brought to life by creative director Kodai Kobayashi following extensive research trips to the southern islands of Japan. This long-awaited reissue is pressed on black eco-mix vinyl, in an effort to be as sustainable as possible.

Love Forever, our 2025 set of demos from Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jackie DeShannon, set collector hearts a-flutter all over the world with it's collection of introspective, folk rock-flavored tunes drawn from her unreleased recordings for Metric Music Publishing. Now, we're one-upping ourselves with Girl of Yesterday-Acoustic Folk Demos, a collection of COMPLETELY UNRELEASED acoustic folk demos from Jackie, taken from the same rich source of material. Folk music came naturally to Jackie. She got her start singing gospel at home and in church as a child in her native Kentucky, and then singing country songs in her teens on her own weekly radio show. And her first, self-titled album for Liberty in 1963 consisted entirely of folk repertoire. But that album only featured folk songs written by other artists. Girl of Yesterday-Acoustic Folk Demos, on the other hand, presents a dozen tunes, all penned by Jackie for an album distributed by Metric in 1964. Accompanied only by her own accomplished fingerpicked acoustic guitar, DeShannon delivered a stunning set of heart-rendingly sung, haunting music imbued with the doubt, confusion, and excitement of finding adult identity. Although grounded in acoustic folk, it looked forward to both folk-rock and the singer-songwriter era in it's lyrical maturity and melodic complexity. Only 500 to 1000 copies were pressed in November 1964, it's availability limited to various A&R personnel and other music industry staff who made decisions with recording artists looking for material. With Girl of Yesterday-Acoustic Folk Demos, this remarkable material finally gains the exposure it deserves. Among the highlights are a couple of songs that were soon covered by famous artists. Certainly the most renowned is "Don't Doubt Yourself, Babe," given a Bo Diddley beat by The Byrds (Jackie was a huge Byrds booster and fan) on their Top Ten 1965 debut album Mr. Tambourine Man, though it was titled "It's Gonna Be All Right" on her far folkier arrangement on the original Metric Music demo LP. And Marianne Faithfull covered the superbly bittersweet "With You in Mind" on her 1967 album Love in a Mist. We also hear the first appearance of "Splendor in the Grass," later a 1966 DeShannon single given backing by The Byrds. Richie Unterberger's notes feature candid recollections from Jackie about the motivations behind the songs and the vibrant, mid-'60s LA scene from which they emerged. Remastered by Mike Milchner at Sonic Vision and featuring photos from Jackie's private collection, Girl of Yesterday-Acoustic Folk Demos is available in a beige vinyl edition or on compact disc. A missing and utterly charming chapter in both Jackie's own evolution and the progression of American folk and pop to more sophisticated forms.

How does an artist follow a critically-acclaimed breakthrough record like Southeastern? For Jason Isbell, the answer was Something More Than Free. With songs like "24 Frames," "Flagship," and "Children of Children," the 2015 album found Isbell tackling the subjects he knows best: the dignity of work, the difficulty of love, the friction between the present and the past. Something More Than Free further established the North Alabama native as a bonafide songwriter, and also netted him his first two Grammy Awards, for Americana Album of the Year, and for American Roots Song of the Year ("24 Frames.")
10 years later, Something More Than Free has been re-mixed by the legendary Sylvia Massy (Prince, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty), breathing new life into these now classic songs in the Isbell canon. And as a cherry on top, the man has broken his normal rule and included a b-side here. "Should I Go Missing" is a bluesy jammer highlighted by Isbell's slide guitar playing. If we're lucky, it will become a staple at his upcoming live shows.

Black & White Splash Vinyl. Jobi Riccio is stepping into her next chapter with Face The Feeling, her forthcoming album on Yep Roc Records due May 15. An "Emerging Act of the Year" nominee from the Americana Music Association and a John Prine Songwriters Fellowship honoree, Riccio first broke through with her 2023 debut Whiplash, a coming-of-age record rooted in folk and country traditions. On Face The Feeling, she pushes far beyond those foundations, embracing a bolder, electric, indie-rock-driven sound that mirrors the album's emotional depth. Where Whiplash captured the restless search for escape, Face The Feeling finds Riccio choosing to stay, confronting grief, rage, self-doubt, desire, and devotion head-on. Written between Colorado and Nashville and co-produced with longtime collaborators Isaiah Beard and Jesse Timm, the album balances light and dark, restraint and release, as Riccio leans into discomfort as a path toward growth. Songs like "Pilar, NM," "Wildfire Season," and "Doesn't Matter" reveal an artist willing to sit inside complicated feelings rather than outrun them. Having performed at the Grand Ole Opry, made her national television debut on CBS Saturday Morning, and toured with Lucius, Jason Isbell, and Iron & Wine, Riccio arrives at Face The Feeling with clarity and confidence. The result is her most expansive work yet: a fearless excavation of self and a declaration of artistic evolution.

Where Jose Gonzalez’s previous record Local Valley turned inward toward place, language, and personal reflection, Against the Dying of the Light widens its gaze, becoming an urgent call to preserve the light of humanity with all its flaws, at a moment when technology increasingly shapes how we think, feel, and relate to one another.Across the album, Gonzalez works within a deliberately minimal framework, pushing his familiar palette to new heights through subtle variation, restraint, and detail. Each song unfolds with its own distinct character, proving how much emotional and musical range can be achieved within self-imposed limitations. When Belfast songwriter Joshua Burnside began writing 'It's Not Going to Be Okay', he wasn't chasing a concept. He was trying to survive. The album was born from loss, written in the quiet aftermath of his closest friend Dean Jendoubi's passing. In that stillness, Burnside stripped everything back. Gone were the dense textures and surreal folk tales; what remained were bare, trembling songs that told the truth.

Recorded in New Orleans, 'Goodbye Blues' marks the emergence of a songwriting talent with power comparable to that of Blaze Foley or Townes Van Zandt. Time spent drifting from the northwest to Mexico to New Orleans and now to Montana has kept her off of the industry's radar until recently. Now, following her Newport Folk Fest appearance, she opened concerts for Big Thief and the Deslondes. Somewhere between Sandy Denny's arresting clarity and Vashti Bunyan's gentle depth sits the luminous voice of Australian folk diviner Leah Senior. While the style and instrumentation of '70s Brit folk are touchstones on Senior's forthcoming album, Pt. Roadknight, her disarming lyrics are fresh and wholehearted, wrestling with modern concerns of gentrification and isolation while finding solace in the quiet beauty of the Victoria surfcoast town where she lives. Though this is her first album with a U.S. label (released jointly by SPINSTER and Australian label Third Eye Stimuli), Leah Senior has been a shining star of the Australian folk scene for the past decade, touring extensively and sharing international stages with the likes of Wilco, Iron & Wine, Simon Joyner, Jessica Pratt, and King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard. On Pt. Roadknight, her fifth studio album, Senior explores her introspective, nature-loving side while honing the singular baroque psych folk that has captivated listeners around the world.

June Tabor and Maddy Prior's 1976 album Silly Sisters is a seminal collaboration in British folk, uniting two of the genre's most iconic voices-Prior, known for her work with Steeleye Span, and Tabor, renowned for her stark, emotive solo interpretations. The album weaves together traditional British and Celtic ballads (such as "Geordie" and "The Grey Funnel Line") with rare gems like "The Seven Joys of Mary," showcasing striking vocal interplay and unadorned yet powerful arrangements. Often compared to the harmonies of The Watersons or the narrative depth of Shirley Collins, Silly Sisters remains a touchstone for lovers of traditional song and vocal duet performance. The newly remastered version of Silly Sisters offers a fresh opportunity for new audiences to experience this work. The package comes with new reflections from Maddy Prior and June Tabor. Chrysalis Red Series is a new series offering a deep dive into the forgotten corners of our catalogue. Unearthing overlooked masterpieces, cult classics, and genre-defying oddities that deserve a reappraisal or a proper introduction.Silly Sisters [Chrysalis Red Series]: Available on vinyl for the first time since the original release. Magic Tuber Stringband act in communion with the natural world around them. Highly skilled players and writers, the trio are leaders within the burgeoning Avant-Folk world. Growing up in Appalachia studying the folk traditions of the region in tandem scientific and observational work in nature, their music appears to weave in and out of the fabric of the landscape. The ensemble continues to stretch the parameters of acoustic instrumental expression with masterful flourishes of dense, textural arrangements, subtle minimalist gestures and deft improvisation. Heavy Water addresses the impact of nuclear production on the environment and the communities within, a musical evocation of destruction and resilience, an embrace of dissonance and tension within moments of transcendence. The inspiration for Heavy Water is rooted in fiddler Courtney Werner's work as an ecologist in rural South Carolina.Werner explains:"The town of Ellenton, South Carolina was the largest of the towns displaced in 1952 by the U.S. federal government to build the Savannah River Plant, which produced radioactive materials for U.S. nuclear weapons during the Cold War. The former site of Ellenton was dedicated to the extraction of 'heavy water,' whereas other areas of the plant focused on manufacturing weapons-grade plutonium and tritium within nuclear reactors. Heavy water is chemically altered to be denser than normal water and is incredibly expensive and time-consuming to synthesize, requiring 52 gallons of river water to produce one fluid ounce. It's denser properties made it valuable for use within the nuclear reactors on the site."Heavy Water is more than a collection of songs. It is a work whose compositions are entirely modern. Played on traditionally folk acoustic instruments, it defies expectations and emotionally addresses the pain of lives human, flora or fauna irrevocably changed by dominant forces and defiantly persevering.

Marisa Anderson's music transcends borders. The topography of her work interrogates the intersections of artistry and expression with form and tradition. Anderson crafts pieces bursting with equal parts reverence and curiosity, contouring familiar shapes into work that is wholly her own. Anderson has spent decades mining the veins of the complicated, interconnected American folk traditions she was steeped in from a young age, stretching beyond those traditions and incorporating the vocabulary and techniques of vernacular folk music from around the world into her work. Eschewing replication or revival, Anderson's music lives in conversation with tradition. "My approach to tradition is with the hands that I have and the history that I have," notes Anderson. "In that way it's a collaboration-you don't go into collaboration trying to play like the other person, you go in trying to find out how to play together."The Anthology of UnAmerican Folk Music is drawn from nearly one thousand songs culled from the private record collection of the late Harry Smith. For this record, Anderson works on music from places that the United States has been in conflict with since 1970: Southeast Asia, the USSR and the Arabic and Islamic regions of the world. In Volume 1 Anderson presents her own deeply personal iterations of nine songs from the Anthology. Composed, transcribed and arranged through a process of trial and error, deep listening and research, Anderson charts a musical course across the globe. Each piece on the album stands as a dialogue between Anderson and the original source recordings, refracted through the prism of her unique musical lens. Anderson's contribution to this dialogue ultimately invites asks: "Who are the people we've been told in our lifetimes are "unamerican?" What have we lost or been denied access to in the fallout from that label?"
