Delbert McClinton has performed on Austin City Limits 7 times. This 1982 performance is considered one of his more legendary performances. You can call Delbert's music "Texas roadhouse blues" if you want to, but you might as well give up trying to pin a label on this guy. He was born in Lubbock, but you'd never know it from the sound of that growling, gravelly, funky voice. Maybe growing up in Fort Worth explains the difference, since he developed his R&B chops early-on playing in the house band at Jack's Place, a notorious, rough-and-rowdy late-night joint. That's where they shared the stage with the likes of legends Bobby Blue Bland and the infamous Jimmy Reed, Delbert's main man. He wandered out to L.A. for awhile and helped propel Emmylou Harris's career with his song, "Two More Bottles of Wine," then released two classic pre -"progressive country" albums with partner Glen Clark. -Terry Lickona (Producer Austin City Limitsr)Available on vinyl for the first time, this title is also available on CD, DVD and CD/DVD combo pack.

Vinyl LP pressing. John Lee Hooker, known as "The King of the Boogie" and "the Boogie Man", was a true Blues icon. Quality rather than quantity is the key to Hooker's singular success. He did not have a huge number of hits in the R&B chart, but those that did make a major impact would provide some of the key musical architecture for future blues and rock artists. When he came to prominence in the late '40s, he was playing blues in a way that was regarded as somewhat spare, his dark repetitive vocals supported only by his amplified guitar and his stamping foot. His was no overnight stardom. Having paid his dues over many years, once he started recording, he did so prolifically. This fine collection of his earlier songs demonstrates Hooker's blues virtuosity while at the same time establishing his work as a signpost to a deeper understanding of the British Blues explosion. It features a host of early hits including the iconic No.1's "Boogie Chillen'" and "I'm In The Mood", alongside "Hoogie Boogie", "Hobo Blues", "Crawlin' King Snake", "Dimples", "No Shoes" and, naturally, the timeless "Boom Boom"

Albert Castiglia isn't pulling any punches on Grits & Glory, his latest solo studio album on Gulf Coast Records, recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. The record feels like a full-circle moment - reconnecting Albert with the wide-eyed, guitar-slinging kid from New York whose world was flipped from black and white to technicolor by an 8-track of Rubber Soul on the way to a ball game. That spark of curiosity sent him chasing sounds and players - Jeff Beck, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page - whose influence has echoed through Castiglia's playing ever since. British blues always felt essential to his DNA... just out of reach. Until now. Clear Translucent Vinyl

Vinyl LP reissue. One of the truly classic blues albums of the 1960s, and one of the first to successfully capture the smoky ambience of a night at a West Side nightspot. The Monday blues boys-guitarist Buddy Guy, bassist Jack Myers, drummer Billy Warren-join Wells on his harp to create this raw, gutsy, uninhibited sound, yielding melodic memory-makers such as "Snatch it Back and Hold it," "You Don't Love Me, Baby," "Chitlin con Carne," and others. Widely hailed as one of Wells's finest achievements, the album has gone on to be Delmark's highest-selling release of all time. And little wonder why: If not just Wells, Guy truly dazzles here on the guitar. Every blues lover will confirm this record as prerequisite stuff for Chicago Blues 101.

Limited blue vinyl LP pressing. Magic Sam a/k/a Sam Maghett was a revolutionary guitarist and one of Chicago's legendary West Side natural blues players. A Mississippi native, the self taught musician would move to Chicago in 1950, playing small clubs and making a name for himself in short order. His uncle acclaimed bluesman Shakey Jake a/k/a James Harris, would get Sam set up in the burgeoning nightclub circuit, eventually playing between sets with major blues greats like Muddy Waters. As his local reputation as a solid blues guitarist would take hold, he signed a deal with Cobra Records as he kicked things off with the stellar double sided blues hit single "All Your Love" and "Love Me With A Feeling" in 1957. More blues belters followed like "All Night Long." As he was beginning to achieve sales and national attention, he was drafted into the army. Upon his return, he moved over to Mel London's Chief Records label, where he followed up with great blues rockers like "Square Dance Part One" "My Love Is Your Love" "Do The Camel Walk" and a stunning cover of Fats Domino's "Every Night About This Time." He would go on to release more solid recordings for Chief and Crash Records, as well as a super rare single "Respect Me Baby" with Shakey Jake into the mid-sixties. Towards the end of the decade, Sam was truly gaining much acclaim by playing bigger venues and blues festivals, but as fate would have it, Magic Sam suffered a heart attack and his brilliance was silenced in 1969. Today, Magic Sam is revered internationally and considered one of the founders of the West Side Guitar blues sound. His music is second to none, as witnessed with this incredible collection of his finest sides from the Cobra, Chief, Crash and Paula Records era. Limited random colored vinyl LP pressing. Louisiana Red was born in Alabama in March 1932 and died in Hanover almost exactly 80 years later. The early life of Iverson Minter, also known as Louisiana Red, was marked by suffering. His mother died of pneumonia a week after he was born. When he was five years old, his father was executed by the Ku Klux Klan. After that, he lived in orphanages until he was able to spend the rest of his childhood with his grandmother. As a teenager, he was sentenced to hard labor for burglary and subsequently sent by Uncle Sam to the Korean War. Iverson had wanted to become a blues musician ever since he had met Muddy Waters. In the late 1950s, he played in John Lee Hooker's band. In the mid-1970s, he moved to Europe, where he gained recognition among a wider audience through appearances at the WDR Rockpalast and the Montreux Jazz Festival. In the 1980s, Fritz Rau signed Louisiana Red for his successful festival series, the ""American Folk Blues Festival."" In 1983, he released his acclaimed album ""Anti-Nuclear Blues,"" whose content and message are more relevant today than ever. The original vinyl edition has since become a sought-after rarity. Now, the album is being released for the first time on CD, featuring six bonus tracks from the 1981 ""American Folk Blues Festival,"" as well as a reissue on vinyl with a fresh sound.

GRAMMY NOMINATED GUITAR VIRTUOSO ROBBEN FORD RETURNS TO HIS BLUES ROOTS WITH NEW RELEASE ON PROVOGUE RECORDS.Bringing It Back Home's all-star line-up features organist Larry Goldings, drummer Harvey Mason, bassist David Piltch and trombonist Steve Baxter. Guitar giant Robben Ford's new album Bringing It Back Home is a stunning study in soul, style and virtuosity that cuts to the heart with it's exceptional, emotion-laden musicianship. The disc also brings the five-time Grammy nominated stage and studio legend back to his earliest roots as a performer, playing blues. Ford, who Musician magazine called one of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of the 20th Century," developed his reputation in the jazz and pop world of the 1970s and '80s as a solo artist, a member of the ground-breaking fusion group L.A. Express and a sideman with Joni Mitchell, Miles Davis and others. But he emerged from northern California in the '60s as part of the Charles Ford Blues Band. In that group - formed with his brothers and named after their father - he supported blues legends Jimmy Witherspoon and Charlie Musselwhite, getting a hands-on education in the style. Bringing It Back Home revisits and reshapes the roots of Ford's first musical love. The guitar kingpin selected 10 tunes from the blues canon, ranging from early Delta pioneer Charley Patton's "Bird's Nest Bound" to Bob Dylan's "You Go Your Way and I Go Mine," and, along with a hand-picked team of A-list players, crafted dynamic, new and highly original arrangements for each song in the studio.
