Mick has been turning out blues records for several years and with each one he's learned a little more about what to do and what not to do. During that time his life has also presented him with many challenges - and opportunities. Drawing on that, Mick has come up with this one, flavored with personal tragedy and triumph, with dashes of humor and pain - that's kind of what Mick does! The album title, Blue To The Bone, is what Blues Blast Magazine said about him. For this album Mick assembled his favorite team of musicians, beginning with producer and guitarist Jeff Jensen, teamed with a solid group of Memphis based musicians: James Cunningham, Bill Ruffino, Rick Steff, Tom Lonardo, Carl Casperson, Eric Hughes, Marc Franklin and Kirk Smothers. Joining them was harmonica ace Bob Corritore on a very special song. The album opens with "This Getting Old is Getting Old," Mick's song about the misery of aging, followed by "Bourbon and You," which deals with missing a lover. Mick's love of blues poured itself into the next song, "All it Takes is Blues.' "For Better or For Worse" is Mick's song that follows up on his most played song (literally millions of streams) "Baby's Got Another Lover," which Mick wrote about his wife's addiction to alcohol, this new song covers the final few months of her life - it isn't intended to make you smile. With "Something to Look Forward To" Mick returns to the subject of aging and continues with that theme in the song "I'd Like To Be Recycled. The humor of this tune is followed by the humor of Mick's versions of an obscure country song "If My Nose Was Running Money" Mick re-imagined his previously released song "Mr. Right" as well as the classic Merle Travis song "16 Tons." The album closes with Mick's "Please Don't Write That Song," which kind of speaks for itself!

Albert Castiglia isn't pulling any punches on Grits & Glory, his latest solo studio album on Gulf Coast Records, recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. The record feels like a full-circle moment - reconnecting Albert with the wide-eyed, guitar-slinging kid from New York whose world was flipped from black and white to technicolor by an 8-track of Rubber Soul on the way to a ball game. That spark of curiosity sent him chasing sounds and players - Jeff Beck, John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page - whose influence has echoed through Castiglia's playing ever since. British blues always felt essential to his DNA... just out of reach. Until now.

The BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND Leans into R&BFervor on the Brassy Keep on Moving: AlbumFeatures a Horn Section with David Sanbornand Prioritizes the Art of the GrooveHear the 1969 Record in Audiophile Soundfor the First Time on Disc: Strictly Limited to2,000 Numbered Copies, Mobile Fidelity'sHybrid SACD Plays with Dynamic Livelinessand Revealing ClarityAnd then there was one. Paul Butterfield stands as the lastremaining original member of his namesake collective on Keep onMoving. It's hard to imagine it being any other way. Picking up whereit left off on In My Own Dream, the BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND whollyembraces R&B fervor - and indirectly dares any horn-accompaniedensemble of the era to match it's energy, pulse, tightness, and flair. While going all-in on soul with a crack support cast on this 1969 set,Butterfield would pull the plug on the band just two years later. Thegroup's pursuit of funky, bluesy paths carved by rolling bass lines, stacked horns, buttoned-up rhythms, and harmonica blasts almostmakes that decision unthinkable.Sourced from the original analog master tapes and housed in amini-LP-style gatefold package, Mobile Fidelity's hybrid SACDmakes Keep on Moving available in audiophile quality. Open andbalanced, it underlines the dynamic liveliness and organic feel ofJerry Ragovoy's production. As well as the palpable chemistry ofthe sessions recorded at his then-brand-new Hit Factory studioin New York. The prominence and positioning of the horn section- comprised of a young David Sanborn, Gene Dinwiddie, TrevorLawrence, Keith Johnson, and Steve Madaio - particularly benefitfrom the newfound transparency and presence. For Robin Trower, stage and studio are two sides of the same coin. If you've followed the seven-decade career of the award-winning British bluesman, you'll know every song on One Moment In Time: Live In The USA. But unless you've pushed your way to the front of his sell-out shows, you've never heard them like this before. "I'm a different player on the stage," considers the 80-year-old. "It's almost impossible to get to that point in the studio. It's the sound of the guitar, it's the volume, it's the crowd. For what I do, it takes one hundred per cent commitment for it to work. But if you do it well, it's life-affirming."

When five-time Grammy award winner Taj Mahal intersects with The Phantom Blues Band, it’s one of those rare joints that hits you before you even know you’ve been hit. They walk in, plug in, and the whole room shifts. Studio assassins, road lifers, groove keepers and somehow still hungry. They are an internationally renowned Two-Time Grammy Award winning group.Taj Mahal’s fearless, open-hearted spirit still shadows the whole thing with that genre-hopping joy. He leads you down the road with a history lesson and the Phantoms carry it with honor to the Griot. Mahal sings and plays harp as he fronts an all-star lineup of legendary musicians with the three ringleaders for the Phantoms--Johnny Lee Schell, the soulful gunslinger with tone for days, Tony Braunagel keeps the whole ship steered straight and on time, every time, and Larry Fulcher, the anchor, the heartbeat, the quiet storm on bass. Additionally, Jon Cleary, with that unmistakable New Orleans piano swagger, Mick Weaver, a session master who’s playing slides in with an undeniable velvet magic, and in the horn section, Joe Sublett on sax and Les Lovitt on trumpet bring the orchestration into the full view of this genre. This band doesn’t ‘back” anybody. They lift you up, carry you, and dare you to rise higher. On this record they slide through blues, soul, R&B, and island color with the ease of men who’ve lived every bit of it. This is deep-groove, grown-folks music from a band that still plays like the night is young.‘Time’ is their new release on Resonatin’ Records / Thirty Tigers and celebrates over thirty years of making this uplifting inspiring and aspiring music together.
