The long-awaited vinyl re-issue of 'Hawk' from Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan.Isobel Campbell (ex-Belle & Sebastian) and Mark Lanegan (ex-Screaming Trees, Queens of the Stone Age) third album Hawk, will be reissued on November 6th on LP and CD.Hawk builds on the critical acclaim of 2006's Mercury Prize-nominated Ballad of the Broken Seas and 2008's Sunday at Devil Dirt, solidifying the duo's signature dynamic-Campbell's ethereal, whispery arrangements juxtaposed against Lanegan's deep, gravelly baritone. Written, arranged, and produced entirely by Campbell, Hawk was recorded across studios in Scotland, England, and the United States. The 13-track record expands their sonic palette far beyond classic country-folk, venturing into dusty Southern soul, garage-rock stomps, and soaring gospel arrangements. ""With this record, I wanted to stretch the canvas further,"" says Isobel Campbell. ""Mark and I have built a true shorthand together over the years, which gave us the freedom to push into heavier grooves, raw blues, and sweeping orchestral textures while keeping the core intimacy intact. Album Highlights & Key Collaborations ""You Won't Let Me Down Again"" - The album's lead single, driven by a hypnotic rhythm and featuring a searing guitar solo from former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha. ""Come Undone"" - A moody, slow-burning Southern soul ballad showcasing Lanegan at his most vulnerable. Townes Van Zandt Covers - Faithfully rendered versions of ""Snake Song"" and ""No Place To Fall,"" the latter featuring guest vocals from American singer-songwriter Willy Mason. ""Lately"" - A cinematic album closer that swaps the pair's vocal interplay for a rousing, brass-tinged gospel choir.Packaging: LP, 180g, Black Poly-lined Inner, Single Sleeve

Each of these songs are a commentary on being human and wanting connection. There is a lot of chaos all around us and I definitely find myself feeling alone. My wish is that whoever hears these songs feels the hope I feel when I sing them!
I hope these songs feel like a soothing moisturizer on our chapped hearts. We are all going through so much in our humanity right now that being awake can feel like trudging through a burning desert. But we are never alone. And there is beauty everywhere. We just have to keep our eyes open.
I find I go to songwriting these days to make sense of what is going on inside and all around me. So much chaos but a ton of hope and love to share.
These songs were all born of the experience of living in this moment. There is so much chaos and information coming at us that it can feel overwhelming and paralyzing. My hope is that when you hear these songs, you feel that this is only of a moment and that life is a beautiful gift worth sharing.

Blue Earth Sound returns with 'Everything to Remember', a bold and cinematic second album from Chicago composer and multi-instrumentalist James Weir. Expanding on the groove-led jazz foundations of breakout debut 'Cicero Nights', the new album ventures deeper into dramatic soul jazz, cinematic composition and richly textured analogue production, drawing influence from Motown, Italian soundtrack music, spiritual jazz and post-punk atmospherics.Built around a warm yet expansive sonic palette of Fender Rhodes, organ, flute, saxophone and driving rhythm sections, 'Everything to Remember' balances emotionally charged instrumental songwriting with a distinctly modern cinematic feel. The campaign follows the strong momentum of 'Cicero Nights', which quickly sold through it's initial pressing and established Blue Earth Sound as one of the most exciting emerging names within the contemporary jazz and instrumental space.

The long-awaited re-issue of 'Sunday At Devil Dirt' from Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan.Sunday At Devil Dirt is the second full-length collaboration between the former Belle & Sebastian member (Campbell) and Lanegan, the Screaming Trees frontman and part-time QOTSA vocalist. Recorded between studios in the Catskills and Isobel's native Glasgow, Sunday At Devil Dirt is an album of dust bitten ballads and troubled wanderings, easily the equal of it's predecessor. Again, Campbell and Lanegan complement each other beautifully, like silk on cracked leather. While continuing to mine the same rich seam of Alt-Country, Folk and Blues of their debut, the new record also embraces a dusty southern gothic, while a sultry, jazzy feel is evident on a number of tracks. As with their debut, the album has been written, produced and arranged by Isobel Campbell, with Lanegan providing lead vocal duties.

Rock is rich krovvy that froths in the veins of Chicago's Axis: Sova, the trio of Brett Sova, Jeremy Freeze, and Josh Johannpeter. They enjoy progressive tactics when spilling it: earworm hooks & phased/fuzzed guitars, metronomic time moving flexibly into a breathing frame. With visceral pull and elegant bloom in their new songs and sounds, Flowerage discovers how to get blood back out the rock, to focus an eye in the world's chaos. Gates Of Kiev is a progressive rock band founded inthe Netherlands by childhood friends, organist Tomas Mesmanand drummer Hessel Braat. The band's origins trace back totheir teenage years, when a shared passion for classic and vintagemusic brought them together. What began as informal late nighthard rock sessions in a small garage gradually evolved into themusical foundation that defines the band today. While performingon the Amsterdam live music circuit, the duo met Eszl de Vois, anestablished bass player in the underground psychedelic scene whosepassion for unconventional jazz fit the band like a glove.Heavily inspired by Emerson, Lake & Palmer, the band adoptedthe name ""Gates of Kiev,"" taken from the iconic piece featured onthe live album Pictures at an Exhibition. Taking further inspirationfrom the modern local garage and punk scene as well as the earlyyears of 70s prog bands, Gates of Kiev's live shows evolved into ahigh energy and intense performance. Loud, fast, and over the top.The band's songs are long and mostly instrumental. Slot is the high-energy, dance-punk project of couple Abby Detrich (vocals) and Max Detrich (bass, drum machine), based in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.Their music is a potent, genre-fusing sound described as gritty but flirty pop songs with a punk, in-your-face delivery, and pumping, heavy, danceable beats. Drawing on dance punk, noise pop, and alt-rock, their sound is rooted in Max's transition from drummer to electronic beats via a Boss DR-5 drum machine, with Abby contributing lyrics and dynamic vocals. The band's upcoming album is a bold, flirty, punchy, and raw statement, delving into themes of the intersection of performance and sexuality, self-acceptance, and personal reclamation. It was recorded with collaborator Danny Gibney in Harrisonburg, VA, capturing an experimental sound inspired by Y2K media.Slot delivers an energetic, bratty, and in-your-face live show, having shared the stage with bands like Brainiac and played festivals like MACROCK. Beyond music, Abby is a floral artist and Max is a graphic designer, and they are both dedicated to progressive community causes in Baltimore. Ventschau is Raphael Vanoli's second solo album, following Bibrax. The album takes it's name from a small village in northern Germany where Vanoli stayed on writing retreats between 2018 and 2023. The forest, and long stretches of being alone in it, shaped how the music moves. Ventschau is an ode to that love of the forest - poetic and personal, with more room than before for melody, harmony, and song-like shapes. Mantra-like figures recur; on several pieces Vanoli sings softly into the strings, so breath, voice, and resonance carry as a single sound. At the core of the record are the ""blowing"" techniques Vanoli has been developing for years - sounds drawn from breath against the strings of a hyper amplified electric guitar, alongside the full range of artefacts and resonances such a guitar can be made to reveal, among them the voice itself, sung through the strings. This is the sound world of the instrument as he hears it, and it has kept opening since Bibrax. The spectrum of solo electric guitar widens further here as those techniques share the room with more conventional playing and a broader palette: a Fender Bass VI, a 12-string electric, and on one piece a steel-string acoustic. Some of the pieces lean into fragility and let it stay. Others are epic and densely detailed - wall-of-sound passages that move across the whole frequency range, from the high crispness of an insect world down to sub-low, earthquake-like rumble. All of it is made live, in real time, on a single guitar - which makes the comparison to a classical recital literal rather than figurative: technically, that's what it is.All the pieces are his, written across those five years, except ""Alti Plano,"" which draws on a traditional Bolivian melody. The record was made live to tape in May and August 2023 at Electric Monkey Studio in Zaandam, with Kasper Frenkel engineering. Almost everything is analogue, apart from a few pedals. Vanoli kept the number of takes low and let the rough edges stay where they fell.

Notes on the Memory of Notes is a celebration of listening - a sonic ritual that opens through the sensuality and sweetness woven between electronic and acoustic elements. Inspired by delicate lyricism, the three musicians create spaces where the ear can still be surprised. Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch, Adèle Viret, and Fabrizio Cassol unite their sensibilities in a dense and continuously transforming dialogue. Their music moves between complex electronic rhythms, dreamlike choral layers, and vast improvised spaces. Saxophone, cello, and digital textures fuse into a sonic continuum where contemporary jazz and electronics meet with singular identity. The composition never closes in on itself - it opens as an invitation.

Matrix Music Arhiv proudly presents the debut album by Slovenian group Marcus 5, featuring original archival recordings from the early 1980s. Due to a lack of financial resources, the group was unable to release a full-length album during their active years. However, they did manage to release three songs on the cassette compilation Alternativna AA scena. One of the tracks, ""Brez besed"" (""Without Words""), even reached the top five on the Stop Pops music chart on Slovenian National Radio (now Val 202). Thomas Miller started his music career in central New Jersey and played in numerous cover and original bands influenced by progressive bands from the 1970s and 1980s. In 1986, he met Michael Romeo, a local progressive and classically influenced guitarist, whom he then recorded and played out in several bands with. In 1994, they formed Symphony X and recruited the rest of the band members to complete the lineup and sign with Japanese record label, Zero Records. After international critical acclaim for their albums Symphony X, Damnation Game, The Divine Wings Of Tragedy, Twilight In Olympus, and A Prelude To The New Millenium, they did various tour dates in Japan, Europe, and NYC. Shortly afterwards, due to personal issues, Thomas stepped away from the band.Continually writing and recording on various projects and honing his writing skills, Miller collaborated on a recording project with vocalist Hollywood How Portney in 2017, who had recorded with several local bands and labels including Megaforce Records. After interactions with fans over the years and realizing his chemistry with How, he decided to start writing for the LAZARUS EFFECT project. He then asked former bandmates Michael Romeo and Michael Pinnella to lend their recording talents to the project, and then Eric Rachel, producer of Symphony X's first six albums, to mix and master the album. The result is music and lyrics inspired by majestic themes, progressive metal, and various musical overtones.

Social Satire, Deadpan Humor, and Twitching New-Wave Elements Protest Conformity on Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!: Debut Devo Record Includes ""Jocko Homo"" and Deconstructionist Cover of ""(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction""Hear the 1977 Set Rolling Stone Ranks the 252nd Greatest Album of All Time in Reference Sound on Disc: Mobile Fidelity's Numbered-Edition Hybrid SACD Plays with Superb Clarity and DetailThe satirical protest, spastic structures, and deadpan humor of Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! Run so deep that it took decades for the music cognoscenti to come around and appreciate the record on it's own terms. Ranked the 252nd Greatest Album of All Time by Rolling Stone and amid the 100 best efforts of the 1970s by Pitchfork, Devo's radical debut helped steer the new wave movement that followed. And as fate would have it, it is more relevant in the 21st century than at the time of it's release. Sourced from the original master tapes and housed in mini-LP-style packaging, Mobile Fidelity's numbered-edition hybrid SACD presents the 1977 benchmark in reference sound on disc. The presence, clarity, and detail of this reissue render in three-dimensional fashion the textures, nuances, tones, and effects critical to the music. Though Brian Eno butted heads with the band during the recording process, the merits of his production emerge like never before. The sonic treatments that turn Devo's keyboards into the equivalent of futuristic machines; the metallic effects and pointed sharpness of the percussion; the crispness of the arrangements; the herky-jerk motion of the singing; the stickiness of the bizarre time signatures: Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! #comes across like a pointillistic painting seen up-close. Numbered Hybrid Stereo SACDNUMBERED SPECIAL EDITIONLISTEN: https://youtu. #be/I3bF0N081TE

Among Leo Delibes's output of some twenty operas, Jean de Nivelle falls within his mature period, between Le Roi l'a dit and Lakme. The work's premiere at the Opera-Comique on 8 March 1880 was a resounding success. The press praised the charm of the melodies and the quality of the libretto by Edmond Gondinet and Philippe Gille, remarking on the coexistence of two styles in the score: one melodic and light, typical of opera-comique, and another in which the vocal writing seemed more serious, the orchestration richer and the harmonies more complex. It is true that the listener frequently feels a dramatic sweep 'that transports one into the realm of grand-opera', to quote Le Menestrel. Beyond it's intrinsic interest, Jean de Nivelle reveals the growing seriousness that had come to dominate the opera-comique genre. So much so, indeed, that critics regretted the retention of spoken dialogue (however characteristic of the genre) in Delibes's work. But recitatives were soon added to facilitate it's international dissemination. It is this version that the Palazzetto Bru Zane has reconstructed and decided to record. With Love Letters, drummer and composer Joost Lijbaart has created perhaps the most personal album of his career, an album on which he let's go of many of his musical certainties. After 35 years in jazz, improvisation and world music, Lijbaart asked himself a simple yet confronting question: what remains when technique, virtuosity and musical complexity are stripped away? What happens when the only intention is to play honestly? The answer was rhythm, sound and the expressive power of words.Together with young New Zealand singer, bassist and songwriter Amelie Spinks and American bassist River Adomeit, Lijbaart formed the band Sunflower. In it's music, his long-standing love of country, folk and Americana comes clearly to the surface-genres he had listened to for years but had never previously explored in a project of his own.The age difference between the three musicians (Spinks is 23, Adomeit 29 and Lijbaart 58) did not create distance. Instead, it became a source of inspiration, shaping the songwriting, the lyrics and the musical concept.Their collaboration brought back the excitement of first experiences: making music without routine and without predetermined roles. For Lijbaart, Sunflower also required a radical new approach to drumming. Much of what he had developed throughout his career, extended percussion, complex rhythms and technical virtuosity had no place in these songs. Instead, he searched for something more essential: rhythm, texture and expression through simplicity, finding exactly the right balance between instrumentation, lyrics and groove. The songs on Love Letters draw attention to the places where life may reveal itself most truthfully: in small gestures, in touch, in waiting and in care. They open up a world in which quiet actions carry more meaning than grand statements, and where silence and listening can lead to greater understanding and wisdom. At the heart of the album is the idea of equality not as a declaration, but as a way of being. In 'If I Was a Woman, ' Lijbaart consciously attempts to step into a perspective that is still too often overlooked within a patriarchal society. 'Eight Hands on a Black Cat' explores the strange contrast between the tangible, truthful experiences of domestic life and the noise and superficiality of the outside world. For Joost Lijbaart, Sunflower is not a side project, but a new artistic beginning: music made without protection, in which virtuosity no longer determines what should be said. The song does. UPC: 608917615029Label: BuzzRelease Date: 10.23.26Format: Vinyl
