Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Stoic - PAELLA! (Oxblood Vinyl + Booklet) (New (N))

PAELLA! is a collection of tracks centered around themes of collaboration and connection — a project born from the rich diversity of each collaborator’s unique stories and experiences. Inspired by the iconic dish his mother would make, Stoic builds the album around the idea of paella as a dish created from whatever is on hand, transforming simple household ingredients into something new and unique every time. The dish, deeply personal to Stoic, serves as a fitting metaphor for a body of work that celebrates the power of collaboration and highlights the artistry of longtime friends and collaborators, while remaining true to the producer’s signature sound and vision. The album’s concept is evident from the opening track ‘PEGAO’, is echoed by Stoic’s mother on ‘THE RECIPE’, and bleeds through the fusion of a wide range of genres, sounds, and voices that come together to create something much larger than life. As the head chef, Stoic has truly extracted the best from each ingredient and crafted a vibrant, cohesive album that leaves you craving seconds and reaching for the desert menu.PAELLA! marks the debut solo album from the Grammy-winning producer, as he opens this new chapter with old friends and collaborators, established artists and rising stars. So grab a seat at the table, turn the volume up, and help yourself to a heaping plate of homemade paella, made with love. Tracklist: PEGAO (ft. Blvck Svm & Max He) UP & AWAY! (ft. • the album cover for Mildred - Fenceline [Colored Vinyl]

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Mildred - Fenceline (LP, Color) (New (N))

Aquiline Blue Vinyl. Mildred is a band from Oakland, CA of four equal parts. They don't have a lead singer, no one person writes the songs. The songs that make up their debut album Fenceline come together as a group with their genesis sprouting from any one of their members each time. Fenceline is a collection of songs that you want to hold close and delve into, and yet play to everyone you know. While the lyrics were largely written in and around the Ward St. #house, the fleshing out of the songs had to take place elsewhere. The house was owned by septuagenarian slumlord Suzanne, along with 17 others in various states of decay across Oakland. Ahead of Fenceline, Mildred have just released their debut twin EPs mild and red, a collection of songs impossible not to play over and over in a startling way considering they were created before Mildred even knew they were a band, with no thoughts beyond just messing around back in Ward St. Arriving purposefully on the scene in that gentle, approachable Mildred way, the EPs picked up support from The Guardian, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Uncut, The New Cue, Clash, Brooklyn Vegan and more. • the album cover for Ciconia Consort - The Hague String Orchestr - Casterede: Works For Str Orchestra

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Ciconia Consort - The Hague String Orchestr - Casterede: Works For Str Orchestra (CD) (New (N))

Jacques Casterede (1926-2014) was a distinguished French composer, pianist, teacher, and musical analyst whose career bridged the traditions of twentieth-century French music and a personal, highly expressive compositional language. Born in Paris on 10 April 1926, he studied at the Paris Conservatoire under influential teachers including Tony Aubin and Olivier Messiaen. His exceptional talent earned him first prizes in piano, chamber music, harmony, composition, and musical analysis, culminating in the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1953. Following a residency at the Villa Medici in Rome, Casterede returned to France and became an important educator at the Paris Conservatoire, where he taught analysis, composition, and musicianship for several decades.Casterede's music combines melodic vitality, modal inflections, rhythmic energy, and rich harmonic textures. Although influenced by French masters such as Debussy, Ravel, Honegger, and Messiaen, he developed a distinctive style that balanced clarity of form with expressive freedom.Among his most significant contributions to the string orchestra repertoire is the Symphonie pour orchestre a cordes No.1 (1952). Written when the composer was still in his twenties, the work reveals many of the characteristics that would define his mature style: continuous melodic movement, energetic rhythmic writing, and a sophisticated harmonic language rooted in both tonal and modal traditions. Another important work for string orchestra is the Prelude et fugue (1960), a composition that reflects Casterede's deep interest in contrapuntal technique. Critics have noted it's combination of neo-Baroque energy with a modern harmonic vocabulary, producing music that is both intellectually rigorous and immediately engaging. Casterede also wrote concertante works featuring string orchestra, including his Concerto No.1 for Piano and String Orchestra (1954), and Trois paysages d'automne (1982) for cello and strings. These compositions further demonstrate his affinity for the sonorities of the string ensemble and his ability to combine lyricism with structural elegance. This recording is the 6th CD on Brilliant Classics of the Ciconia Consort (The Hague String Orchestra), a Dutch string orchestra conducted by Dick van Gasteren, an internationally active conductor, who was Bernard Haitink's assistant during the Mahler Festival Amsterdam in 1995.Critical praise for the Ciconia Consort on Brilliant Classics:'The Ciconia Consort does Casterede proud, dispatching the counterpoint in the finale with relish I enjoyed this disc greatly.' Fanfare (French Music, 95734)'The Ciconia Consort, resident at the Hague, are a fine ensemble, and this collection will not disappoint.' MusicWeb International (American Pioneers, 96086). • the album cover for Anna Dmitrieva - Khandoshkin: Sons For Solo Vn Vn Variations With

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Anna Dmitrieva - Khandoshkin: Sons For Solo Vn Vn Variations With (CD) (New (N))

Until thirty years ago, the Russian performing school largely overlooked the principles of playing historical instruments. However, with the fall of the ""Iron Curtain"" of traditional approaches, a newfound freedom emerged - not only in daily life but also in the interpretation of early music. Today, as we strive to preserve this cultural openness, we look back to the 18th century - an era when Russia made an extraordinary leap into the world of instrumental art in a remarkably short period of time. Ivan Khandoshkin, a brilliant violinist and composer, became the pivotal figure of this breakthrough.Born in 1747, Khandoshkin was an elder contemporary of W.A. Mozart and a younger contemporary of J. Haydn. Young Ivan's extraordinary talent led him, at the age of thirteen, to join the court orchestra of Emperor Peter III, a passionate music lover and amateur violinist himself. Under the tutelage of the Italian court violinist Titto Porto, Khandoshkin's progress was so remarkable that in 1762 he was appointed to the Court Orchestra. A significant milestone was the 1781 publication of two editions of his work in Amsterdam. After returning to St Petersburg in 1788, he remained a central figure in concert life, performing his own works and serving as a first violinist in various orchestras. In 1804, Khandoshkin died following a stroke and was buried at the Volkovo Cemetery in St Petersburg.Khandoshkin's sonatas for solo violin were published posthumously as Op.3 around 1806 by the St Petersburg publisher Friedrich Dittmar, but stylistic features indicate that they were composed in the 1790s. The use of the solo violin served both a practical purpose-allowing performance in the absence of a continuo player-and an artistic one: it was an opportunity to demonstrate the highest level of virtuosity. Any composer undertaking such works entered into an ""intellectual duel"" with works of great masters of these genres, such as the sonatas and partitas of J.S. Bach, the fantasies of G.P. Telemann, the fugues of J. Stamitz and W. Pichl, the sonatas of J.F. Reichardt and F.W. Rust.Khandoshkin holds a distinguished place in this lineage, his pieces pose exceptional technical demands while reflecting profound artistic intentions, embodying three distinct aesthetic currents: the fury of Sturm und Drang, the expressive nobility of the pathetish-galant style, and the refined hedonism of the Rococo.Anna Dmitrieva (b. 1987) graduated from the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, where she studied under T. Liberova, P. Popov, and I. Dzektzer. She continued her studies in chamber music and Baroque violin at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Koln with A. Spiri, H. Schoneweg, R. Gwilt, and K. Junghanel. With her ensemble Ludus Instrumentalis, she completed postgraduate studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg under R. Goebel. Highlights of recent seasons include her work as concertmaster of Concerto Koln in Romantic repertoire under Kent Nagano and Jacob Lehmann, as well as appearances as leader and soloist in a wide range of Baroque programmes. She has also served as leader for Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Ensemble Boulevard Baroque, and Ensemble 1700. Her performing and recording collaborations include Cordevento, La Chapelle Harmonique, Compagna di Punto, Altera Pars, Il Pomo d'Oro, B'Rock Orchestra, Musica Gloria, Collegium Musicum '23, and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, among others. Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Dimitri Ashkenazy - Caspar Diethelm: Chamber Music For Clarinet (CD) (New (N))

    1 in stock

Caspar Diethelm (1926-97) was one of the leading Swiss composers of the twentieth century. His free-tonal style - angular yet accessible - drew on the inheritance of several of his predecessors, above all Hindemith, Honegger (both of whom were his teachers), Martin and Schoeck, with Bartók adding rhythmic spice. These influences he combined with an awareness of modernism to form an individual and expressive musical language of his own. These chamber works for clarinet, covering over thirty years of creativity, are variously informed by lyrical tenderness, ironic humour, a dark sense of drama, edgy energy and light-hearted playfulness. Largely unknown until now, they constitute a major addition to the clarinettist's repertoire. UPC: 5060113448163Label: ToccataRelease Date: 11.6.26Format: CD

Nicola Fago was a composer and a teacher (he was a teacher of counterpoint and composition at the Sant'Onofrio Conservatory and at the Pieta de'Turchini, where his pupils included composers such as Leonardo Leo, Francesco Feo and Nicolò Jommelli) and had a leading role in the musical life of Naples in the late 17th century and the first half of the 18th century, that period known as the 'Austrian Viceroyalty' spanning from Francesco Provenzale to Alessandro Scarlatti, leading composers of his era.Il Faraone sommerso is the only one of the six oratorios composed by Fago between 1705 and 1711 whose music has survived; it has been preserved in two manuscripts, both hand-copied: one is held at the Bodleian Library in Oxford, bearing the date 1709; the other in the Library of the Florence Conservatoire, held in the Basevi collection. The libretto has not survived and the name of the librettist is unknown; he was most likely a high-ranking prelate who adapted one of the many librettos of 'sacred dramas' dedicated to the episode of the liberation of the Jewish people from Egyptian slavery through the miraculous crossing of the Red Sea. Even the time of composition is currently merely a hypothesis: if the date of 1709, as recorded in the Bodleian Library manuscript, is indeed the date of composition, the work was probably commissioned from Fago by Cardinal Francesco Pignatelli (Senise, 6 February 1652 - Naples, 5 December 1734) - a figure linked to the curia of Taranto - as part of a cycle of oratorios on biblical themes to be performed in the chapel of his palace in Naples during Lent that year. • the album cover for Paola Leoci - Amazilia

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Paola Leoci - Amazilia (CD) (New (N))

    7 in stock

Written for the bass Luigi Lablache, the tenor Giovanni David and the soprano Josephine Fodor-Mainville, Amazilia premiered on 6 July 1825 at the Teatro San Carlo In Naples and was well received, although the local press reported a 'brilliant opening, which the rest of the performance did not quite live up to'. Restaged the following year at the San Carlo, Amazilia was definitively a 'highly praised score'. In the same year, outside the San Carlo, it was also performed in Palermo and Milan. Amazilia was subsequently performed in Rome, again in Naples and Palermo, in Messina and in Livorno, either in the one-act version or the two-act version, both of which were published in reductions for voice and piano in 1831. Amazilia remains an opera that Pacini must undeniably have considered significant: he even named one of his daughters Amazilia, and the opera enjoyed great popularity as a source of popular arias. Almost all the pieces can be found incorporated into operas by other composers, and Pacini himself consented to the grand rondo from Amazilia being sung within Gli Arabi nelle Gallie. This practice continued for a long time, ensuring the success of pieces from Amazilia well into the early 1850s, thanks in part to certain performers' fondness for specific arias from the opera. Zadir's cavatina, for example, became a signature piece for the tenor Mario de Candia, who incorporated it-adapted to his own needs-into operas such as Rossini's La donna del lago and Donizetti'sLucrezia Borgia. A few decades earlier, to give another example, Lablache introduced Cabana's cavatina into some performances of Rossini's Mose in Egitto in Paris. The French press still had Pacini's melodies ringing in their ears when, a few years later, they accused Bellini of plagiarism, claiming he had copied passages from Amazilia, which may well have had some influence on works such as Norma (1831). Even in the 20th century, Beverly Sills inserted the cabaletta 'Parmi vederlo ahi misero' into the 1974 New York production of Rossini's Assedio di Corinto, unaware of the aria's origin. 10 in stock

Three years ago, Careless Territories was an invitation to travel. It reflected a musical curiosity that willingly wandered across styles, moods and influences, allowing each composition to find it's own destination. Looking back, I realize that album was less about defining a musical identity than about embracing the freedom of discovering one.Straight Down the Middle was born from an almost opposite intention. Rather than broadening the horizon, I felt the desire to narrow the focus. This record is the result of a conscious decision to immerse myself in one musical language that has fascinated me for years: the modern post-bop tradition. It is a repertoire, an aesthetic and a way of thinking that continue to inspire me, yet one that remains relatively uncommon on the European jazz scene. Instead of searching for variety, I wanted to explore the richness that comes from commitment to write music that lives unapologetically within this tradition while allowing my own voice to emerge naturally. With the exception of Every Single Time, which briefly steps outside the frame, every composition on this album embraces that artistic trajectory. Hence the title: Straight Down the Middle.More than anything, this album is a tribute to the composers, improvisers and recordings that have shaped my musical imagination over the years, but also to Phil Abraham, Amaury Faye, Clement Daldosso and Raphael Pannier, whose generosity, trust and musicality brought these compositions vividly to life. If this record conveys anything, I hope it is the simple pleasure of five musicians sharing a language they deeply love, while adding, with humility, one more conversation to a tradition that continues to evolve. Martin Eastick (b. 1957) has a reputation as an authority on some of the most obscure piano music of the nineteenth century: his south London home is a repository of a vast number of rare scores. But even those who consult him for advice on repertoire are generally unaware that he is himself a composer, his handful of compositions reflecting his fondness for the music of the 'Golden Age' pianist-composers whom he admires, from Chopin and Czerny to Godowsky and Paderewski, just sometimes with a hint of jazz - it's overt and timeless charm belying it's fearsome difficulty. White Vinyl. The Filipino-Australian artist emerged through the orbit of Charli XCX's co-sign, crafting music that sounded simultaneously blown-out and diaristic, intimate confessions stretched into maximalist soundscapes. 2024 was a difficult year for daine, and the following year they found themselves coming out of hiatus, releasing another EP and generally incorporating more fun into their life. The result of that period is a record that is raw, self aware, and multifaceted, while pulling from the maximalist, gnashing pop idioms that daine is familiar with. • the album cover for Mattia Ometto - Liszt: Music For 2 Pianos

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Mattia Ometto - Liszt: Music For 2 Pianos (CD) (New (N))

The third and final volume in an enlightening series of Liszt's music for two pianos: new recordings masterminded by the great Lisztian of our time, Leslie Howard, and featuring several world-premiere recordings.Leslie Howard's complete survey of the piano music of Liszt has been widely acknowledged as a monument in the history of sound recording. Since that vast project reached completion, however, he has continued to mine the Lisztian archives for buried treasure. In partnership with Mattia Ometto, he has recorded the complete symphonic poems and the Faust and Dante symphonies, in versions for two pianos made by Liszt himself. Issued by Brilliant Classics, these collections have met with enthusiasm from dedicated Lisztians, who will be even more eager to acquire the final volume of the series. This features several works better known in their solo-piano versions, such as the Reminiscences de Don Juan de Mozart and the Fantasia and Fugue on B-A-C-H. The Concerto pathetique may be slightly more familiar in this, it's original version for two pianos, but the Groes Konzertstück based on three of Mendelssohn's Songs without Words is a genuine rarity. There are two versions of the multi-authored Hexameron based on a theme from Bellini's I Puritani, the second of which has never been recorded, along with a transcription of the Festklange tone-poem which again differs in detail from the one recorded by Howard and Ometto in their earlier survey. The finer points of the editions are engagingly discussed by Howard in his booklet note. The performances themselves lack nothing for drama as well as authenticity, and open a window on to the generosity of Liszt's artistic relationship with earlier masters and notable contemporaries. If we view Liszt these days as a pivotal figure in 19th-century music, it is not least thanks to Howard's dauntless dedication to the cause. • the album cover for Audrey Bonnet - Arthur Honegger: Jeanne D'arc Au Bucher

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Audrey Bonnet - Arthur Honegger: Jeanne D'arc Au Bucher (CD) (New (N))

    15 in stock

Animal Music will release Arthur Honegger's dramatic oratorio Jeanne d'Arc au bucher (1935/1944). Lukas Vasilek conducts the Czech Philharmonic, Prague Philharmonic Choir and the Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir. The cast is led by Audrey Bonnet as Jeanne d'Arc and Sebastien Dutrieux as Frere Dominique. This is the first recording since 1975 of Jeanne d'Arc au bucher made with the same orchestra and two choirs. The cast is completed by actors Jean-Baptiste Le Vaillant, Thomas Gendronneau and Anna John Schmidtmajerova, and singers Susanne Bernhard, Veronika Rovna, Anna Goryachova, Kyle van Schoonhoven, Dovlet Nurgeldiyev and Zachary Altman. Jirí Chvala and Petr Louženský are the choirmasters of the Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir. The album is released on CD with a comprehensive booklet in a trilingual English-French-Czech version. The connections between the composer, Jeanne d'Arc au bucher and forces involved in this recording are closely interwoven and, at times, charged with historical and emotional resonance. In 1949, Honegger himself conducted the Prague Philharmonic Choir in the Czech premiere of his Le Roi David (1921). In 1970, the Czech Philharmonic, conducted by Vaclav Neumann, performed Jeanne d'Arc au bucher to mark the first anniversary of the death of Jan Palach, the Czech student who set himself on fire in protest against the 1968 Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia. Five years later, in 1975, the Czech Philharmonic, Prague Philharmonic Choir, and Prague Philharmonic Children's Choir, under Serge Baudo, recorded Jeanne d'Arc au bucher for Supraphon. This new recording by Animal Music is based on live performances given between 13-15 February 2025 at the Rudolfinum in Prague. Honegger's oratorio was chosen by Lukas Vasilek to mark both his debut conducting the Czech Philharmonic and the 55th anniversary of the work's performance at the Rudolfinum in 1970. Reviewing the first of the three 2025 concerts, Bachtrack described it as 'a performance for the ages' and Klasika Plus said 'Vasilek's interpretation was outstanding the Prague Philharmonic Choir delivered one perfectly blended wave of sound after another, reaffirming it's place among the European elite.' Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Prague Philharmonic Choir since 2007, Lukas Vasilek is also founder of the Martinu Voices, with whom he released his first album on Animal Music in 2023 featuring choral works by Benjamin Britten (ANI124-2) which went onto win the Czech Music Academy Award for Best Classical Recording of the Year. In recent years, Vasilek has also been active in his original field of orchestral conducting. His interpretation of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem performed in February 2023 by the Prague Philharmonic Choir, in collaboration with the Prague Philharmonia, the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and members of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra was a resounding success. Britten's work, along with other major vocal-symphonic works, such as Honegger's Le Roi David and Poulenc's Gloria and Stabat Mater, has become a mainstay of Vasilek's concert repertoire with the Prague Philharmonic Choir. • the album cover for Rainer Zipperling - J.S. Bach: Viola Da Gamba Sons

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Rainer Zipperling - J.S. Bach: Viola Da Gamba Sons (CD) (New (N))

The elegant and courtly world of Bach's chamber music, explored through his longstanding affection for the intimate sound of the viola da gamba. Bach owned a viola da gamba and may very well have played it himself, along with the violin and the keyboard family. While the instrument was already becoming obsolete during his lifetime, to be replaced by the stronger and more reliable sound of the cello, Bach evidently enjoyed writing for it, and perhaps for the virtuoso instrumentalists with whom he came into contact, firstly as Capellmeister at the court in Cothen, and then as Cantor of St Thomas's Church in Leipzig. The measured eloquence of the gamba is heard at it's most affecting in the St John and St Matthew Passions, where Bach used it as an obbligato instrument at points of most inward contemplation. His writing for it as a chamber-music instrument, in the three sonatas BWV1027-1029 which have come down to us, is less florid, though at points no less challenging. The quick movements engage in lively discourse with the continuo, while the slow sections draw out the gamba's potential to sustain a long singing line. What makes this new recording unique is the transcriptions of other chamber-music pieces: the Sonatas BWV527, 1019, 1023 and 1030. BWV527 is more familiar as a trio sonata (for organ or chamber group); BWV1019 and 1023 are drawn from the collection of six sonatas composed for violin and harpsichord; 1030 is more familiar as a flute sonata. However, the melody line of all four works fits sympathetically onto the wide register of the gamba. Through these new recordings, Rainer Zipperling and Pieter-Jan Belder draw us into Bach's domestic circle with their unforced and gently persuasive accounts. Zipperling has played with many of Europe's most renowned early-music groups such as the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, La Petite Bande, Ricercar Consort and Camerata Koln. He has regularly performed with Sir John Eliot Gardiner and the English Baroque Soloists as principal cellist and gambist. He also worked with Claudio Abbado and his Orchestra Mozart, performing the Brandenburg Concertos. He is joined here by Pieter-Jan Belder, who has made so many first-class recordings of Baroque repertoire for Brilliant Classics, as both instrumentalist and conductor. • the album cover for Teodoro Bau - Bach: Partitas For Viola Da Gamba

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Teodoro Bau - Bach: Partitas For Viola Da Gamba (CD) (New (N))

Johann Sebastian Bach's Partitas for solo violin BWV 1002, 1004, and 1006 are remarkably visionary works. Within the established framework of the dance suite, Bach pushes the expressive and technical possibilities of the instrument to unprecedented heights. Few works from the period display a comparable level of compositional and instrumental complexity. The practice of adapting violin music for the viola da gamba is well documented from the rise of both instruments through the middle of the eighteenth century, making the transcription of Bach's Partitas a thoroughly natural undertaking. With it's affinity for both polyphony and the jeu d'harmonie, as well as for the dance-suite tradition itself, the viola da gamba provides these works with a new perspective. While nothing in the instrument's original repertoire matches the density of harmonic and contrapuntal writing that Bach achieves in these Partitas, the pieces take on a new dimension when heard on the viola da gamba. They are transformed without losing their identity, like a familiar landscape seen from a different vantage point: certain details appear in a new light, yet the subject remains the same. The common denominator of nineteenth-century Italian music was the search for freedom and the need to rework the absolute principles that had dominated society and musical culture, seeking models that were opposed to traditional patterns. However, this revolution was often influenced by sentimentality and creative ferment from beyond the Alps. Italy experienced it's Romanticism by identifying it with the fervent aspirations of it's national Risorgimento; it's field of expression was music, particularly melodrama, a Romanticism that was popular rather than elitist. It is logical that these ideals were also expressed by theorgan, which at that time, together with the marching band, was widespread in every locality, while the orchestra was still the privilege of a select few in the big cities. The romantic organ in Italy opened up to the influence of melodramatic compositions, faded shadows of the forms made famous by the great opera composers. At the same time, some musicians were making an admirable effort to break out of the geographical and cultural boundaries of a politically fragmented territory. However, the composers' desire to adhere to the stylistic features of organ builders, as opposed to the blatant operatic taste of the public frequenting sacred places, appears noteworthy. The quality and quantity of Italian organ creativity attested to the nobility of the musicians' endeavours, even in comparison with the European international music scene. Out of stock

With This is not David Bowie, the Yuri Honing Acoustic Quartet does not present a traditional tribute, but a personal reflection on what Bowie represented: freedom, transformation, and the courage to cross boundaries. For Yuri Honing, Bowie was an early source of inspiration not only musically, but above all through his uncompromising drive to reinvent himself. That same spirit runs through Honing's own work, shaped by jazz, improvisation, visual art, literature, pop, rock, classical music, non-Western traditions, and electronics. The quartet reapproaches Bowie's music through it's own language. Using fragments of compositions, harmonies, atmospheres, and ideas as starting points, the musicians create new interpretations in which melodies may remain recognizable or only the spirit of a song lingers. This project is therefore not about imitation or nostalgia. It is about curiosity, imagination, and the ongoing search for new artistic connections. Just as Bowie continually opened new worlds, the Yuri Honing Acoustic Quartet explores how music can keep moving forward without losing it's identity. • the album cover for Ulf Bästlein - Walther Von Goethe: Lieder Balladen Und Leben

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Ulf Bästlein - Walther Von Goethe: Lieder Balladen Und Leben (CD) (New (N))

The publication Der Seele Innerstes ward offenbar on Walther von Goethe brings together exclusively world premiere recordings with a comprehensive accompanying book (edited by Ulf Bastlein and Ariane Ludwig). The compositions of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's eldest, almost completely forgotten grandson are characterised by a wide stylistic range: from delicate 'miniatures en musique' through sarcastic and ironic scenes to sweeping ballads.A pupil of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Carl Loewe, he set to music, amongst other things, texts by his grandfather, by Heinrich Heine, by poets largely unknown today, and also his own poems. Compositionally, he forged his own, often experimental path. Central to his work is his aesthetic of inwardness. Some elements (harmonic breaks, surprising modulations) sound almost 'modern'. Goethe repeatedly explores the boundaries between sung melody and declamatory speech. As he conceives the song in terms of vocal melody, many of his songs are instantly memorable. The performers are Ulf Bastlein (baritone) and Silke Evers (soprano). Their musical partners at the grand pianos - five historical instruments, including the Goethe family's Nannette Streicher grand piano - are Christoph Ritter and Hedayet Jonas Djeddikar. Contributions on biographical, musical and cultural-historical aspects were written by, amongst others, Ulf Bastlein, Dieter Borchmeyer, Jochen Golz, Peter Gülke, Christian Hain, Karsten Hein and Ariane Ludwig. • the album cover for John Bradbury - Helen Leach: Window To The Stars

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: John Bradbury - Helen Leach: Window To The Stars (CD) (New (N))

    Out of stock

On 6 November 2026, Divine Art is thrilled to announce Window to the Stars, it's second release devoted to the highly appealing chamber music of Scottish composer Helen Leach. Window to the Stars follows her hugely successful 2024 debut album Diary of the Bee, and features an acclaimed lineup of artists, including pianist Simon Leach, cellist Adrian Bradbury, clarinettist John Bradbury, and violinist Benedict Holland. A cornucopia of new, imaginative works, Window to the Stars overflows with finely crafted and deeply redolent, sensitive music, with titles set to become classic repertoire. Leach writes: 'Often inspired by the abundance and timeless beauty of the natural world here in Scotland' Window to the Stars combines lush 'romantic lyricism, bursts of harmonic colour with evocative textures. At times majestic and dramatic, elsewhere infused with deep peace and moments of lightheartedness, the music reflects my own inner world'.'Out of the Depths', the tender and poignant opening work for solo cello, is followed by two pieces transporting us to the wild and beautiful Scottish landscape: 'As the Feet of a Deer', a rich, expressive, earthen combination of clarinet, cello, and piano, conveying the stag's nobility and physicality, and 'Wherever I Wander', which is inspired by Robert Burns' poetry, begins with a simple folk melody, rhapsodic in it's nostalgia for a treasured homeland, and ends softly with a sense of sublime peace. 'When the Seasons Danced' also reflects the natural world, taking the listener through the seasons and landscapes and ending with the dreamy movement that gives the album it's title, 'Winter: Window to the Stars', which leaves a sense of wonder with distant echoes of Christmas bells.'The Dove of Peace', for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano, is a tribute to the beautiful, spiritual musical language of Messiaen's 'Quatuor pour la fin du temps', articulating our need for peace. 'Hommage a Edgar Degas' celebrates an artist beloved among musicians and dancers alike through melodic lines, musical gestures, and vivid colours reflecting the forms and movements of Degas' works. The uplifting and deeply spiritual 'Butterfly Garden draws on the inherent ethereal nature of the clarinet, while the expansive melody and undulating accompaniment of 'Prelude for a Royal Swan' for cello and piano seek to portray the beauty, dignity, and unwavering commitment of England's late Queen.Hallmarked with vivid storytelling and melodic strength, the distinctive compositional voice of Helen Leach is becoming increasingly regarded internationally, with the music of her Divine Art 2024 debut album Diary of the Bee being regularly broadcast on the airwaves around the world. Helen has a background as a clarinettist and church musician and was Principal Clarinet with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, going on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music. More than four decades after redefining the sound of melodic progressive rock, ASIA return in 2026 with Indigo—a studio album that bridges past, present, and future with remarkable grace and authenticity. Now featuring Geoffrey Downes alongside an inspired new lineup—Virgil Donati, John Mitchell, and Harry Whitley—ASIA step confidently into a new era while honoring the legacy that made them one of the most iconic supergroups of all time. Recorded throughout 2025 and produced by Downes and the band, with mixing and mastering handled by John Mitchell, Indigo captures the unmistakable spirit of ASIA while injecting it with renewed vitality and purpose. At the heart of the album lies an emotional connection to the band’s history. Indigo includes some of the final compositions written by the late John Wetton—“Tattoo Indigo (Parts 2 & 3)” and “Chesapeake Bay”—imbuing the record with a profound sense of continuity and tribute. The presence of Wetton is further felt through the extraordinary vocal performance of Harry Whitley, whose tone and phrasing evoke a striking and deeply moving resemblance to the band’s original voice. Musically, Indigo stands as a natural continuation of ASIA’s acclaimed 21st-century output, while subtly weaving in the sonic DNA of the band’s classic early albums. • the album cover for Francesco Tasini - Scarlatti: Complete Keyboard Works

Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Francesco Tasini - Scarlatti: Complete Keyboard Works (CD) (New (N))

    13 in stock

On the occasion of it's 40th anniversary, Tactus presents amonumental 8-CD box set that gathers for the first time theComplete Keyboard Works by Alessandro Scarlatti, one of the most influential composers of the Italian Baroque. Famous above all for his more than 600 cantatas and numerous operas, Scarlatti was also a refined and prolific author of keyboard music, a repertoire still little explored today that reveals a composer in constant dialogue between contrapuntal tradition and new expressive demands. Thisbox set brings together the complete compositions for harpsichord and organ, including toccatas, fugues, variations, sonatas, and liturgical pieces, testifying to the extraordinary stylistic variety of the Neapolitan master. His pages, rich in virtuosity, bold harmonies, and deep expressiveness, build a bridge between the strict counterpoint of the Roman school and the emerging galant sonorities that anticipate his son Domenico. Interpreting this vast and fascinating corpus is Francesco Tasini, one of the greatest specialists in the Italian keyboard repertoire, who performs the pieces on historical instruments (organ and harpsichord) faithfully reconstructed, thus restoring the authentic colour and original sonority of these pages. The result is a total immersion in the sound universe of one of the fathers of Western music. The fruit of rigorous philological work, this edition includes numerous world premiere recordings and represents a recording event of extraordinary historical and artistic value. A unique opportunity to rediscover Scarlatti's genius beyond melodrama and to celebrate four decades of Tactus's commitment to enhancing the Italian musical heritage.
