Vinyl LP pressing. Quite unlike anything else he's ever done, "Windowlicker" is perhaps the most accessible and dancefloor-friendly track Richard D James has ever created. A simple, gurgling riff paired with childishly sung vocals and thrown over straight-up 4/4 beats, groaning and developing, the bizarre sonics straining to burst through the shackles of form and expectation. "Formula" provides unexpected blasts of sound, lengthy breaks, explosive aspirates - it seems to escape and transcend this very plane of existence. "Nannou" is a chilling lullaby, minor-key themes that evoke thoughts of traditional melodies while percussion seemingly made out of household trappings ground it in the everyday.

This special 2LP edition on deep purple opaque vinyl let's you experience the full dynamic range of fan favorites including "Grace," "SOS (Anything But Love)," feat. Originally recorded and released in 1987, Chariots of Iron built upon Apostle's early demo (1984) and White Metal (1985) foundation with greater musical range (faster tempos and added classical elements), refined production, and lyrical depth.Distributed only through the underground tape network of the late '80s, the album revealed Apostle's growing sophistication and spiritual intensity. Tracks such as "Sword & Shield," "Lake of Fire," and "Lamb of God" combine melodic guitar work, anthemic choruses, and bold biblical imagery-calling listeners to perseverance and spiritual courage. The fiery, explosive heavy metal on Chariots of Iron reflects the armored tank artwork that adorns the cover of this reissue, while the message inside faithfully communicates the unconditional love of God for a broken world.Unavailable for decades and rarely heard outside small circles of collectors, Chariots of Iron now receives it's first official Vinyl release as part of the Retroactive Records Metal Icon Series. Limited to just 200 units. Remastered by Rob Colwell and featuring expanded packaging with contextual notes (12x12 full color insert), this release restores one of Christian metal's best-kept secrets-a powerful reminder of why Apostle's music continues to inspire believers and metal fans alike. For fans of Yngwie Malmsteen, Judas Priest, Sacred Warrior, Stryper, Messiah Prophet and Paradox!

Originally recorded in 1985 and released independently on cassette, White Metal captured Apostle at their most raw and determined. From the opening track, Apostle, showcasing Iron Maiden-esque galloping instrumental heavy metal, to the anthemic vocals of "Born Again," Apostle delivers with power, strength, and authority throughout. At a time when Christian metal was just beginning to find it's voice, Apostle stood out for their conviction and authenticity - playing everywhere from churches and youth centers to clubs and open-air festivals. The album's fiery guitar work and straight-ahead lyrics reflected the heart of guitarist and vocalist Matt Harding, who viewed heavy metal not as rebellion, but as a vehicle for redemption. This reissue brings White Metal to CD for the very first time, featuring the band's original 1984 demo EP as bonus tracks. Songs like "Overcomer," "The Teacher," and "He's the Power" showcase Apostle's earliest lineup and the unmistakable energy that would define their sound for decades. "Armageddon" is a must-hear iconic ripping guitar solo track in the vein of "Nagasaki" by Whitecross and "Eruption" by Van Halen!Fully remastered by Rob Colwell and restored with historical artwork and archival notes, White Metal is more than a reissue - it's the first official preservation of Apostle's origin story. Part of the exclusive Metal Icon Series collection, the CD comes packaged in a jewel case with an 8-page booklet including everything music collectors crave. Limited to just 500 copies. This January 17, 1980 performance, broadcast on European radio networks, captures April Wine during one of their biggest periods as a touring band. With this sixth volume, the Arcadia Quartet completes it's series of recordings of Weinberg's string quartets. The ensemble comments: 'Although from time to time we encounter music that we have never heard before, rarely is that music something we would listen to or play again. In our times, with our technology of information, it is rather difficult to discover something meaningful and valuable that had been overlooked in the past, but when it does happen it is a really special moment. For us it happened when we first encountered the string quartets of Mieczyslaw Weinberg. We felt instantly captivated by the wonderful music, the deeply inspired melodies, and perfectly shaped structures. The joy of playing his music has only proved equalled by the enthusiastic response of the public every time we present these quartets in concert, so the obvious question arises: "How can it be that we never heard about Weinberg earlier?" His music is like a glow of light surrounded by the darkness of the unknown, and it quickly became a goal of ours to attempt to dilute these shadows. With every recording and every live performance of his music, we intend to shine some light on this wide-ranging, profound phenomenon, which has remained overlooked for so long.' This duet date from 1990 demonstrates the deep blues feeling and technical mastery Archie Shepp has on the tenor saxophone. Comprised of four standards - 'Things Ain't What They Used to Be,' 'Body and Soul,' 'Pannonica,' and 'Round Midnight' - this set is one of Shepp's most enjoyable ever. The reasons are myriad, but it is in large part due to the fluid, loping bass of Richard Davis. Recorded in a club in front of a live audience, Shepp digs deep into his own history of influential tenor players and comes out not wanting, but on par with them, from Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis to Sonny Rollins to John Coltrane. His playing here is big, meaty, and warm, full of subtle emotions as well as bleating cries. Davis' sense of time and melody is nearly incredible on the title track and on 'Round Midnight.' The interplay Shepp shares with him is tasty, coming from fragmentary elements in Monk's changes; Shepp and Davis move around the lyric and cut to the heart of the tune's color and ambiguity. It's a haunting version and one that offers a completely different reading of the tune over 17 minutes. On 'Pannonica,' Shepp's blues feeling comes out of Ben Webster as well as Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis and his soloing is full of warmth, humor, and a ragged sort of elegance. This - like Shepp's date with Horace Parlan, Goin' Home - is a major addition to the saxophonist's catalog. UPC: 5060149623664Label: Pure PleasureRelease Date: 4.10.26Format: Vinyl
Mal Waldron's first tribute to Billie Holiday, titled Left Alone, was recorded in 1959, mere months before the singer's death. He returned to salute the legendary vocalist on several occasions since then, with this recording likely being his final tribute, recorded less than a year before his own death. Waldron, who worked with Holiday during her last years, is intimately familiar with her takes of the six standards heard on this disc, along with her own 'Lady Sings the Blues.' Archie Shepp's often gritty tenor sax is reminiscent of the texture of Holiday's voice, yet he perfectly complements Waldron's lush piano. They also pack a punch with their stark performance of 'Left Alone' (Shepp's occasional reed squeaks seem deliberate, as if to imitate breaks in her voice). Waldron also recites Holiday's lyrics set to his composition at the conclusion of the LP. Shepp switches to soprano sax for an emotional take of 'Everything Happens to Me' and 'I Only Have Eyes for You,' with the latter song sounding as if the unheard singer is being ignored by her love interest. Shepp's 'Blues for 52nd Street' is both sassy and swinging. This instrumental salute to Billie Holiday is one of the best albums ever to honour her memory.

All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us celebrates 10 years since the release in 2016 with a newly remixed and remastered presentation, along with reimagined artwork. Recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden All Our Gods... is the heaviest and darkest work to which - frontman Sam Carter, bassist Ali Dean, guitarists Adam Christianson and Tom Searle, and the latter's twin brother drummer, Dan Searle have ever put their name to, both on and below it's surface. It is an album that challenges and progresses a genre long thought to have stagnated, and embraces it's inspirations at a time when many rock and metal bands seek to hide them in search of mainstream acceptance. It is also born from considered minds filled not by thoughts of being the biggest band in the world, but of making a difference. Architects are, for that reason, a band like few others; they are five young men who stand for something, and who possess an intelligence, awareness and spirit that inform the very fiber of their band. The quintet all practice a vegan lifestyle, tour with a consciousness about their footprint on the world, and who devote time and energies to environmental causes. The worldwide anger and disillusion encapsulated in All Our Gods... wrestles with contemplations of death, god and faith in search of some semblance of hope for a world increasingly consumed by fear, anger and confusion. This album is Architects statement of intent to the world, it is time to stand up, take notice and be counted.

Vinyl LP pressing. 2021 release. Architects are back with their ninth studio album For Those That Wish To Exist. The band have confirmed their ascent to the very upper echelons of British heavy music. Few bands, of this modern era or any other, can match the quintet's ability to blend uncompromising heaviness with razor-sharp melodic musicianship. A versatile metal group based out of Brighton, England, Architects employ a lethal combination of breakdown-heavy guitars, melodic vocals and symphonic-ambient post-metal. That sonic delivery is conducted from a platform built on veganism and environmental activism.Track List

Clear w/ Yellow Purple Splatter 2xLP. Architects new album captures a historic live stream performance event at the iconic Abbey Road studios: spiritual home to legends like The Beatles and Pink Floyd. Dubbed "For Those That Wish To Exist at Abbey Road", the album features a reimagined orchestral version of their masterpiece album 'For Those That Wish To Exist', backed by their friends in the Parallax Orchestra, the well-respected UK based orchestra made up of some of England's best and most versatile classical musicians, arranged and written by Simon Dobson, Parallax Orchestra's conductor and a three times British Composer award (BASCA) winner for his compositions.
Vocalist Sam Carter speaks to the cultural importance of Abbey Road Studios, "It's such an important part of music in not only the U.K. but all across the world. Some of the biggest and most important records of all time were recorded there. It's such a joy to even be allowed into the building, let alone to record there. It's a very special place; I still can't quite believe we were able to create there."Track List

Vinyl LP pressing includes digital download. Architects UK are a band who've never shied away from challenging the world around them. Long lauded as some of modern metal's most progressive-thinking minds, for the past decade, the quintet have pushed boundaries, redefined genres, and never feared having to question themselves in order for their art to leave it's mark on this Earth. Architects UK, are a band like few others; The quintet all practice a vegan lifestyle, tour with a consciousness about their footprint on the world, and devote time and energies to environmental causes. Their 7th studio album, All Out Gods Have Abandoned Us is the heaviest and darkest work to which the band have ever put their name, both on and below it's surface. "To me, All Our Gods... is about getting to the root of the dysfunctions and disillusionment that cause all of this mess, be it personal or political or environmental," says Architects UK guitarist and principle songwriter, Tom Searle. Architects UK lineup also includes Tom's twin brother Dan on drums, Sam Carter on lead vocals, guitarist Adam Christianson and Ali Dean on bass. For the follow-up to their 2014 album Lost Forever/Lost Together, Architects UK returned to Gothenburg's Studio Fredman and the production team of Fredrik Nordström and Henrik Udd and it was they who would once again be entrusted to help translate the tracks penned by Tom Searle into a reality.Track List

Archive, the acclaimed South London collective, return with their 13th studio album Glass Minds. The record follows their 2022 triple album Call to Arms & Angels, which reached Top 10 across Europe and culminated in a sold-out show at Paris's 15,000-capacity Accor Arena. The album marks a powerful evolution in the band's 30-year journey. Initiated by the core quartet, the record embraces a minimal, down-tempo sound with expansive, emotive space. The album's versatility spans raw, percussive rhythms in "When You're This Down," electro-pop touches in "Wake Up Strange," and motorik vibes in "Look At Us." At the emotional core is "So Far From Losing You," an eight-minute epic blending rap and vocals that reflects Keeler's personal life. Driven by a desire to create without boundaries, Archive continue to challenge and inspire fans, proving that their creative spark burns as bright as ever.
