The Whiles are a Columbus, Ohio indie-folk-rock band whose work spans four different decades. Formed in the late 90s, The Whiles have shared the stage with The National, Grizzly Bear and My Morning Jacket, had a song in an Academy Award Nominated documentary (Murderball) and all of it's members have been at the center of the world renowned (and sir Paul McCartney endorsed) Sgt Peppercorn's Marathon, the only show of it's kind in which all 220 songs of the Beatles are performed in a single 14 hour performance. In 2024, The Whiles booked time with legendary producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Breeders) to record a new album. Unfortunately, Alibini tragically passed away three months before the scheduled recording dates. NoLifeTilMetal Records and Gammacide are teaming up to re-release the original Texas thrash metal masterpiece Victims of Science on strictly limited-edition vinyl and CD. Gammacide is an aggressive thrash metal band with a very short but powerful history. When Texas metal pioneers Warlock disbanded in 1985, guitarist Rick Perry and Eric Roy formed thrash band Gammacide. The band recorded their first 5-song demo in 1987 which made the band a cult favorite amongst the metal fanzine and tape traders of the time. Scott Shelby joined in 1988 as a second guitarist, thus doubling the bands crushing guitar assault. In the summer of 1989 entered Sound Logic Studios in Dallas to record their debut Victims of Science, which was released in early 1990 on Wild Rags Records, becoming one of the label's bestselling records. Gammacide recorded a 4-song demo in 1991 but by 1992 the band folded. In the late 90's and early 2000's the internet gave new exposure to Gammacide and created interest in Texas metal's most intense thrash experience. After many years of inactivity, Victims Of Science album was reissued on CD in 2005, and the band briefly reunited for a Texas tour to commemorate ""20 Years of Toxic Metal. "" In 2022 NoLifeTilMetal Records put out a CD and black vinyl version of Victims of Science. That pressing sold out. In 2025, Gammacide spread the toxic Texas thrash throughout the underground on a U. S. tour. The band is headed back out on another U. S. tour in the Summer of 2026. To conincide with the 2026 tour, NoLifeTilMetal Records and Gammacide have teamed up to re-release the original thrash metal masterpiece Victims of Science on limited edition Toxic Neon Green vinyl and Collector's Edition CD. The vinyl will include a 4-panel insert with a 24x12 collage poster. Only 200 copies will be pressed to vinyl. The CD release limited to 500 copies will include a 16-page booklet packed full of photos and memorabilia and will also include with six bonus tracks from the 1991 and 2005 demos. The music is remastered by Rob Colwell (Viking, Accuser, Flotsam & Jetsam, Helstar) from the original DAT tapes. I Will Die In This Jean Jacket is a testimony of how the lines between commitment and attachments are often blurred. It is the new gloom-punk project from Jim Blaha (The Blind Shake, Green/Blue). Blaha has collaborated with luminaries including Michael Yonkers, John Reis, Shannon Selberg, Dale Flattum and Zak Sally and has released records on Goner, Castle Face, Dirtnap, Hozac, Feel It, Slovenly and Swami. On Hang From A Cloud he concludes over three years of artistic solitude by heading back into the basement to create in an even deeper state of isolation. Formed in Minneapolis this past December, the late-night sessions gradually revealed a concept: capturing the feeling he had from the mixtapes a friend used to make during their teenage skateboarding years-where late '70s post punk sat comfortably alongside the more exposed underground sounds of the '80s and '90s and every song seemed to come from the same hazy, imaginary city somewhere far, far away. Recording onto a 1/4"" tape machine and mixing everything down to the all important cassette, Blaha emerged with an indiffussable sound. Hang From A Cloud is a long-lost pirate radio transmission from an alternate 1980s universe. The album is entirely analog by design. Guitars, vocals, drums, drum machines and bass all captured on cobbled together equipment in a cinder block bunker on a frigid midwest, winter night. There is a one dimensional resonance with a sheen of distortion and rust that is betrayed by the direct and simplistic beauty of the songwriting.
