Heartland Rock and Roll is a sound forged by growing up in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma and building a life on the Texas plains. It’s a faded pair of stonewashed jeans, a Sunday ride on a motorbike, and a hat-down-low cowboy song around a campfire. It’s a cup of coffee while you watch the sunrise. It’s a deep breath as you take in the sunset on the great wide open.
It’s a way of living life unaffected by the trends. It’s being ok with standing out when the crowds just trying to fit in. It’s the perfect blend of gratitude and ambition. It’s watching your kids drink from the hose and sitting around talking life with a few good friends. It’s holding the hand of the girl you love and knowing that the grass ain’t greener because it ain’t yours. It pulls influences from all over. From the Eagles and CCR, to Mellencamp and Springsteen. From Stapleton to Chief and Kings of Leon to Turnpike. It’s the common thread of the rattle of a beat up, hand-me-down guitar, the sting of a telecaster, & the pulsing of the drums delivering honest, unfiltered songs about real life. Heartland Rock and Roll is embracing the simple, everyday life, knowing it’s a life worth living. It’s choosing peace of mind because it’s just worth more to you than fame and fortune. It’s rolling the windows down and getting lost in the moment. It’s music for real people living real life. The ups. The downs. And the in-betweens. Tiki for the Atomic Age feels like a mid-century transmission intercepted from a parallel timeline-one where hi-fi futurism, Polynesian fantasy, and postwar optimism never lost their sense of wonder. Kava Kon isn't recreating exotica so much as reviving it's original promise: escape, elegance, and possibility, rendered in warm, widescreen stereo.Built on shimmering vibraphones, reverb-drenched guitars, analog organs, and ritual-leaning percussion, these tracks move at an unhurried pace. This is oceanic music-designed for dim lights, glowing glassware, and time stretched just enough to breathe. The lineage is clear: lounge exotica, bachelor-pad modernism, space-age pop. But this isn't pastiche or museum work. It's retro-futurism with intention, imagined from the future looking back. The 'Atomic Age' isn't just aesthetic shorthand. It speaks to contrast-leisure in the shadow of anxiety, beauty alongside uncertainty, fantasy as a necessary technology. Kava Kon understands that tiki was never about geography; it was about psychology. A constructed elsewhere. A permission slip to slow down.Pressed on vinyl, Tiki for the Atomic Age comes fully alive: tactile, immersive, and meant to be lived with. For listeners drawn to mid-century dreamscapes and modern exotica that honors the past without freezing it, this is an invitation-step sideways out of the present and into something more elegant.

Continuing their post-hiatus hot streak, The Deathray Davies are back with LAMPSHADE EARTHQUAKE MICROPHONE, an album that finds John Dufilho and company hurtling through a set of spellbinding pocket symphonies that cull inspiration from vintage garage rock and psychedelic pop nuggets while employing heady musique concrète embellishments and ornate studio wizardry. 2021's Time Well Wasted ushered in the band's return following a 15-year hiatus, but this outing reaches back even further for source material; the bones of the record stem from a shelved recording project started in 2006. These excavated sessions were reworked and polished by The Davies, carving out the 13 paisley punk epics that make up the tracklist. With dexterous songwriting, lush instrumental textures, and guest contributions from some Elephant 6 heavyweights, the resulting record is essential listening for the discerning indie rock and roll listener. It arrives via Having Fun / We Are Busy Bodies on November 6, 2026.The Deathray Davies are back with LAMPSHADE EARTHQUAKE MICROPHONE, an album that finds John Dufilho and company hurtling through a set of spellbinding pocket symphonies that cull inspiration from vintage garage rock and psychedelic pop nuggets while employing heady musique concrète embellishments and ornate studio wizardry. 2021's Time Well Wasted ushered in the band's return following a 15-year hiatus, but this outing reaches back even further for source material; the bones of the record stem from a shelved recording project started in 2006. Otto Benson presents Peanut, his second LP with Palto Flats this year, following Songs Before Bed. Known for his prolific output and enthusiastic following, with music released under the aliases OTTO and Memo Boy, Otto released Peanut as a digital-only album earlier this year to wide acclaim. On the strength of the album, Otto performed on bills with indie savants Mac DeMarco and Bill Callahan, showcasing the album's songs live.On Peanut, Otto Benson stretches out as a songwriter, fully exploring the use of voice for the first time. Accompanied mostly by the strumming of his guitar and keyboard (save for two instrumentals, "Mr. Peanut" and "Soy Beans," the only tracks to also employ percussion), Peanut finds a newfound warmth. Using lyrics and voice as an instrument, Otto leans into the atmosphere of each song, playing directly to the listener, as if performing in their room.An understated, psychedelic folk record, Peanut's musical palette belies a depth of lyrical and tonal expression, playing with personal themes imbued with a sense of wistful detachment. It's minimal instrumentation heightens this effect: as each song unfolds, layers build beneath Otto's voice, subtly shading them in. On "Drive Away," Otto is accompanied by Henry Munson, whose warbling slide guitar adds a colorful twang to the song's sense of drift. These tunes are familiar and recognizable, yet elusive at the same time. Songs like "Red and Neon," "Raisin," and "Witnessing" are total earworms, Otto's voice humming alongside his guitar. A collection of intimate songs, Peanut finds a new path forward for Otto Benson, one he ventures alongside his listeners. Nachtmystium's 2010 album, "Addicts - Black Meddle Pt. II" remains a timeless classic. This album stands as a cornerstone of the US black metal scene. Period. It completed the steps that mastermind Blake Judd had started to take with the previous album, "Assassins - Black Meddle Pt. I" (2008), by taking basic ingredients from the fabled Nordic second wave of black metal and adding to them. This move had sent the American cousin of the harsh style down a different path than that already taken many times before by the European instigators. "Addicts - Black Meddle Pt. II" is full of surprises as it draws from a wide variety that include British New Wave (in case the distant echo of A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS has gone unnoticed), PINK FLYOD psychedelia, and other genres that most people would hardly associate with black metal. Innovative, thrilling, and outstanding - at the end of the year, "Addicts - Black Meddle Pt. II" appeared on many "Best of 2010" lists of critics and magazines around the globe. This success opened doors for them to influential and prestigious festivals such as Inferno in Oslo, Norway and Roadburn in Tilburg, the Netherlands. Yet the cracks were beginning to show. At the time, few would have guessed that the title was in part a statement of Blake Judd realising that a severe drug addiction had him already in it's claws and drawing him ever deeper into a personal miasma and an enduring fight for survival. The band began to be plagued by internal trouble and line-up changes. Friendships, business, relations with fans, trust, and income also went down. People got burned, people got hurt, and few cared to ask themselves about their own role when dealing with someone who is suffering from addiction. Tracklist: 01. Cry For Help 02. High On Hate 03. Alma Quartet continues it's ambitious Late Quartets series by bringing together two extraordinary works that share more than the same opus number. Beethoven's String Quartet No. 13, Op. 130, with the monumental Grosse Fuge, Op. 133, travels from dark humour and gentle melancholy to the profoundly moving Cavatina and a finale that was so radical in 1826 that audiences struggled to comprehend it. Nearly two centuries later, the Grosse Fuge still sounds astonishingly modern - Â music Stravinsky famously considered 'contemporary forever."Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 12, Op. 133 forms a fascinating counterpart. Built around a twelve-tone series, it transforms an ostensibly modernist technique into music that is lyrical, emotional and surprisingly accessible. It's expansive second movement moves from fierce virtuosity and almost symphonic intensity towards a visceral, liberating conclusion. In Alma Quartet's hands, these two Opus 133 worlds become part of a larger conversation across time - Â the second installment of their multi-year project pairing the late quartets of Beethoven and Shostakovich. Composer and multi-instrumentalist Amir ElSaffar has achieved international renown for his work combining the Maqam of Iraq and the Arab world with jazz. With Ashwaaq, he displays a new facet of his work with a composition for string quartet, santur, and vocalist Khaled AlHafez, a master of the musical tradition of Aleppo, Syria. This dialogue between AlHafez's warm voice and interpretive style that blends rigor and grace and string quartet explores the microtonal resonances of the maqam and the possibilities of a polyphony rooted in Arab traditions. The texts come from Turjuman Al-Ashwaaq (Translator of Desires) a collection of mystical and ecstatic love poems written by the revered 12th century Sufi mystic, Ibn Arabi, and explore the universal power of love, the inner quest, and the search for unity in the diversity of the world.Ashwaaq is a captivating moment of celebration, where poetic and musical heritages intersect beyond cultural and disciplinary boundaries.

For the past 3 years, poet and musician Lou Turner has been steadily road dogging it across the world, as a member of Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band, on a MJ Lenderman tour, and in her Nashville trio the Styrofoam Winos. For her masterful new album Strangels, Turner decided to return home, record in her own studio, self-produce, and play most instruments herself. What emerged is a thematic album through which Turner, Noah-like, builds her own weird ark of the animal kingdom's 'strangels.'
