Formed in 1987 in the San Francisco Bay Area, Babylon A.D. quickly made a name for themselves with powerful live performances and infectious songwriting. Originally performing as The Persuaders, they caught the attention of Clive Davis, who signed them to Arista Records in 1989 after an explosive live showcase.Their self-titled 1990 debut included the hard rock staples "Bang Go the Bells," "Hammer Swings Down," and "The Kid Goes Wild" (featured in RoboCop 2 with comedian Sam Kinison). The album went gold, spent 38 weeks on the Billboard Top 200, and delivered three #1 songs at metal radio. Their 1992 follow-up, Nothing Sacred, produced by Tom Werman, brought more fan favorites including "Bad Blood" and "So Savage the Heart."Through the 90s and 2000s the band released Live in Your Face (1999), American Blitzkrieg (2002), and In the Beginning (2008). After regrouping in 2014, they issued the EP Lost Sessions and signed to Frontiers Records for Revelation Highway.Recent years saw the release of Live Lightning (2023) and the 5th studio album Rome Wasn't Built In A Day (2024). Bad Brains is the self-titled debut studio album recorded by American hardcore punk/reggae band Bad Brains. Recorded in 1981 and released on (then) cassette-only label ROIR on February 5, 1982, many fans refer to it as "The Yellow Tape" because of it's yellow packaging. Though Bad Brains had recorded the 16 song Black Dots album in 1979 and the 5-song Omega Sessions EP in 1980, the ROIR cassette was the band's first release of anything longer than a single. The release includes the original liner notes by Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo. This reissue marks the second release in the remaster campaign on the band's own Bad Brains Records imprint with Org Music. In coordination with the band, Org Music has overseen the restoration and remastering of the iconic Bad Brains' recordings. The audio was mastered by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering.

On their eponymous debut, the Dallas-based BAD STUFF (featuring members of the critically acclaimed True Widow) aims to deliver one of 2026's most engrossing and cinematic slow-burning rock records.
The band's alternative, almost Lynchian take on the genre is palpable from the onset of the album opener, "Sullen": Nicole Estill's bare kick-snare rhythm makes way to contemplative, laid-back guitar and bass twangs from DH Phillips and Laura Hartman, churning into an ebb and flow alongside moody keys and a cool, almost-funereal vocal delivery from Jackie Dunn Smith. What follows feels like a journey across fuzzed-out passages of surreal, dreamy introspection.
Elsewhere on the album, the glossiness of a song title like "Summer Girls" is offset by a creeping, repeating guitar and bass riff that builds and builds as the lyrics explore melancholy:
"Summer girls only cry in their dark rooms
Summer girl keep their faces dry
To remain unseen means to survive
Affection traps, affection dies."
Immediately after, "The Invisible Man" offers a first-hand account of dejection: a loss of love as told by Phillips and vocalist Gabriel Spatz - "an analgesic marriage - born of boredom and fear." In contrast, tracks like Nepenthe simply explode with fuzzed-out bass at the forefront, chugging along heavy, borderline sludgey riffs.
Through these stories and atmosphere, the darkness and mystery steeped in Bad Stuff can feel all-too real.

Seelie Court - the world's premier label for rare and previously unreleased archive recordings of underground folk, rock, proto-metal, and psychedelic music presents the long-lost masterpiece of Barney James, the legendary '70s rock drummer whose powerful, precise style shaped bands like Gracious, Legend, Warhorse, and the Rick Wakeman Rock Ensemble. Before he became a household name in prog rock, Barney's rhythm was the heartbeat behind sell-out tours, epic stage shows, and timeless recordings, but few knew of his hidden gem. Recorded in 1975 with Warhorse, this single-sided acetate, adorned with a handmade gold foil cover, captures a full-blown concept album that has remained unheard for decades. Across five dramatic tracks, Barney's complex drumming and compositional brilliance drive the saga of Koneg, the Viking god Odin reborn, as he conquers Saxon Britain. From soaring keyboards to searing guitar solos, the closing epic embodies true melancholic grandeur. Only 1 copy exists of this heavy melodic progressive concept LP, valued in excess of £10,000. Fresh from the incredible success of Rick Wakeman's early concept LPs (he drummed with Wakeman's band), Barney and his ex-bandmates Warhorse made this sensational lost heavy prog LP as a promo acetate to get an official release. Barney wrote all the songs and sings. Musically complex, it begins with a spoken intro and tells the tale of Koneg Son of Odin, as he quests to find meaning and death in battle. Keyboards and guitar interweave, with further spoken interludes, and culminating in an epic prog workout featuring fluid soloing electric leads as Koneg dies on the battlefield and is taken by Valkyries to Valhalla. The original gold handmade cover is reproduced as a gatefold with sleeve notes by the actual Rick Wakeman. Barney James, an ex-British Army Commando, and ex Gracious, Legend, and Warhorse, and actor in The Sweeney and Derek Jarman's Jubilee, is also now in Valhalla, and his lost LP is here... Issued for the first time ever with the blessing of Barney's daughters and sleevenotes by Rick Wakeman, this release is a rare window into a virtuoso's untold story. It's an essential listen for prog and rock aficionados alike. UPC: 741869416433Label: Good TimeRelease Date: 5.29.26Format: CD
WIRED is a hard reset for Basement. It marks the British band’s first album in eight years, a reunion with their original label Run For Cover Records, and a return to making music with the unbridled passion and creative intuition that’s always animated their best material. Since forming in 2009, Basement have always been the same five friends -- vocalist Andrew Fisher, guitarists Alex Henery and Ronan Crix, bassist Duncan Stewart, and drummerJames Fisher -- with the same alchemic bond. The only thing that’s changed in recent years is their renewed sense of purpose, and their new album makes that loudly apparent. WIRED is the most dynamic, daring, and inspired Basement have ever sounded, while also retaining the timeless fundamentals of the band’s singular sound: growling guitars, rousing choruses, striking emotional verbiage.Basement are back firing on all cylinders, but they’re not interested in rehashing old glories. The whole band was adamant that WIRED had to be their most decisive artistic statement yet. Title-track “WIRED” is the most urgent they’ve ever sounded, a surefire live staple propelled by needling guitars, a slugging drumbeat, and a skyscraping hook that finds Fisher’s voice in peak form. “Broken By Design” has the opposite temperament: dusky, delicate, bass-led, but still quintessentially Basement in its immediate catchiness and moody character. Nothing on WIRED sounds stagnant. Not one part feels undercooked. The band looked to a smorgasbord of adventurous heroes for inspiration (REM, Interpol, Smashing Pumpkins, to name a few) without ever sounding like they’re imitating any one band -- not even themselves. The record’s title condenses all of this into a single word. The textural connotations of WIRED -- metallic, sharp, jagged -- evoke the album’s steely sonics, and on a more conceptual level, the title speaks to Basement’s unshakeable tenacity. An analog band who’ve thrived in an increasingly digital world without resting on the comforts of nostalgia. Five friends who’ve persisted through several breakups and breakthroughs, but have only grown as people and evolved as a musical unit. At this point, Basement have to accept their fate: they’re wired for this shit.

Basic - the trio of Chris Forysth (guitar), Mikel Patrick Avery (percussion, drum machine, electronics), and Douglas McCombs (Fender Bass VI) - produced their new 7-track album over two days at Electrical Audio studios in Chicago, finishing overdubs and mixing with Jeff Zeigler in Philadelphia. The recordings are groove-driven, but light and loose with songs sounding much bigger than a trio. Ample detail is provided by the interlocking guitars and Avery's unique combination of electronic beats and acoustic percussion that he treats and manipulates live with various self-built electronic processors.Shortly after the release of their debut (This Is Basic, 2024) bassist McCombs (Tortoise, Brokeback) joined the group, and along with Philly-based core members Forsyth (Solar Motel Band) and Avery, (Natural Information Society), toured the record up and down the West Coast and throughout the Northeast and Midwest US making stops at taste making festivals like Sound & Gravity and Big Ears. The chemistry between the three resulted in the development of new material almost immediately, and the "Dream City" EP was released in the spring of 2025.

7 is our 7th full-length record. At its release, we will have been a band for over 13 years. We have now written and released a total of 77 songs together. Throughout the process of recording 7, our goal was rebirth and rejuvenation. We wanted to rethink old methods and shed some self-imposed limitations. In the past, we often limited our writing to parts that we could perform live. On 7, we decided to follow whatever came naturally. As a result, there are some songs with no guitar, and some without keyboard. There are songs with layers and production that we could never recreate live, and that is exciting to us. Basically, we let our creative moods, instead of instrumentation, dictate the album’s feel. For 7, we built a "home" studio, and began all of the songs there. Whenever we had a group of 3-4 songs that we were excited about, we would go to a “proper” recording studio and finish recording them there, in the process shortening the amount of time between the original idea and the finished song (of the album’s 11 songs, 8 were finished at Carriage House in Stamford, CT and 2 at Palmetto Studio in Los Angeles). 7 didn’t have a producer in the traditional sense. James Barone, who became our live drummer in 2016, played on the entire record. We also worked with Sonic Boom (Peter Kember), who became a great force on this record by shedding conventions and helping to keep the songs alive, fresh and protected from the destructive forces of recording-studio over-production/over-perfection. The societal insanity of 2016-17 was also deeply influential, as it must be for most artists these days. Looking back, there is quite a bit of chaos in these songs, and a pervasive dark field that we had little control over. The discussions surrounding women’s issues were a constant source of inspiration and questioning. The energy, lyrics and moods of much of this record grew from ruminations on the roles, pressures and conditions that our society places on women, past and present. The twisted double edge of glamour, with its perils and perfect moments, was an endless source. In a more general sense, we are interested by the human mind's (and nature’s) tendency to create forces equal and opposite to those present. Thematically, this record often deals with the beauty that arises in dealing with darkness; the empathy and love that grows from collective trauma; the place one reaches when they accept rather than deny. While the title is simply a number that represents our seventh record, the number 7 does represent some interesting connections in numerology. 1 and 7 have always shared a common look, so 7 feels like the perfect step in the sequence to act as a restart or “semi-first.” Most early religions also had a fascination with 7 as being the highest level of spirituality, as in "Seventh Heaven.” At our best creative moments, we felt we were channeling some kind of heavy truth, and we sincerely hope the listeners will feel that. Much Love, Beach House

Beach House is Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally. We have been a band for over a decade, living and working in Baltimore, MD. Depression Cherry is our 5th full-length record. This record follows the release of our self-titled album in 2006, Devotion in 2008, Teen Dream in 2010 and Bloom in 2012. Depression Cherry was recorded at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana from November ’14 through January ’15. This time period crossed the anniversaries of both John Lennon’s and Roy Orbison’s death. In general, this record shows a return to simplicity, with songs structured around a melody and a few instruments, with live drums playing a far lesser role.

Has there ever been a band more underrated than The Beau Brummels? Their body of work stands up to many of their more celebrated peers (country rock, for one, is almost unimaginable without albums like Bradley's Barn and Triangle). Thus, the 1975 reappearance of The Beau Brummels in their original line-up for the first time since their 1965 debut Introducing the Beau Brummels was momentous indeed. The eponymous record that resulted, produced by Ted Templeman and Lenny Waronker, still stands as one of the greatest "reunion" albums in rock history, featuring fine songwriting from Ron Elliott and vocal work by Sal Valentino in a classy update of the Brummels' trademark folk and country-tinged style. However, bassist Ron Meagher left before the album was finished, and the band's subsequent touring failed to connect the record in the marketplace, and so The Beau Brummels has never been accorded the attention it deserved. However, time for a reassessment is nigh. Because this new expanded edition features pristine remastered audio and no less than a baker's dozen unreleased demos, alternates and outtakes from the album sessions recently located in the Warner Bros. #label vaults. Reissue producer Alec Palao has worked closely with the surviving Brummels in shaping this release, and tells the full story of it's evolution with an extensive essay inside the illustrated package. "One of the greatest indie-rock bands of their time." - Rolling Stone New Zealand indie rock heroes The Beths latest album Straight Line Was A Lie is a catchy, instant classic out on August 29th. Written in Los Angeles and self-recorded in the band's hometown of Auckland, Straight Line Was A Lie (their first release for ANTI-) follows 2022's critically celebrated LP Expert in A Dying Field. Lead singer and songwriter Liz Stokes delves deeper into her psyche to address everything from roundabout progress to physical and mental health challenges, and fraught family dynamics. Inspired by The Go-Go's, Olivia Rodrigo, filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, and Stephen King's On Writing, amongst others, Stokes' songwriting has achieved startling new depths of insight and vulnerability. Beverly Glenn-Copeland returns with Laughter In Summer, a deeply moving new album created alongside his wife and collaborator, Elizabeth. Written during Glenn’s journey with dementia, the record stands as both a love letter between them and a testament to resilience, memory, and devotion. Recorded at Montreal’s Hotel2Tango with producer Howard Bilerman (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Vic Chesnutt), the album captures performances in a single take, featuring contributions from a choir of Canadian and American voices including Helena Deland. Songs like “Let Us Dance (Movement Two)” and “Children’s Anthem” embody the spirit of collaboration, while pieces such as “Harbor” and “Middle Island Lament” draw from personal and ancestral histories. Laughter In Summer carries the same transformative power that made Keyboard Fantasies and Transmissions modern classics, offering music that uplifts, heals, and connects across generations. Horrorful Heights marks a formidable new chapter in The Bevis Frondas deep and storied catalogue, showcasing the enduring creativity of songwriter, guitarist and frontman Nick Saloman as he moves into yet another decade of recording. Long established as one of the most distinctive voices in British underground rock, Saloman continues to refine the bandas signature blend of melodic psychedelia, wiry guitar epics and sharp, emotionally attuned songwriting. Horrorful Heights offers one of the most approachable entry points to the bandas world in years: a record that gathers their core strengths into a cohesive, vivid set. Recorded with long-time drummer Dave Pearce and guitarist Paul Simmons, alongside new bassist Louis Wiggett, the album moves fluidly between jangling psych-pop, heavy-lit guitar workouts and pastoral comedown reveries. Wiggett also brings a surprising new colour to the Frond palette, contributing pedal steel to aoBest Laid Plansa? and aoMomma Bear, a? recalling early-70s country-tinged British rock from Bronco or Cochise. Though unmistakably eclectic, Horrorful Heights presents a focused portrait of The Bevis Frond in 2025 - vital, tuneful and unburdened by nostalgia. Saloman describes the collection simply: the best songs head written in recent years, arriving unforced and instinctive. The result is a late-period peak from one of Britainas most quietly influential underground bands.
