The epitome of a modern artist, Jana Bahrich does most things herself, no matter how painstaking-writing, producing, directing, often hand painting t-shirts the day of shows when the band have run out of merch. This has helped give her band Francis of Delirium a unique identity, with her rock confessionals breathing a new life in to the genre and her paintings creating a striking design aesthetic.Released as she was finishing high school, 2020's single 'Quit Fucking Around' was a great introduction and it remains one of her most enduring songs. Shortly after it's release, she signed to artist-first indie Dalliance Recordings (Gia Margaret, HighSchool, lilo) and three EPs-All Change (2020), Wading (2021), The Funhouse (2022) and a striking debut album - Lighthouse (2024)-on and Jana has Francis of Delirium flying. While the EP's fizzed with promise, her debut album Lighthouse landed it's punches. Seeking a more vulnerable and open sonic palette, she wove in pop elements to create anthems that celebrated heartbreak and love. Lead singles 'Real Love' and 'First Touch' were the first tracks she made with an outsider - working with GRAMMY winning producer Catherine Marks (boygenius, The Killers, Wolf Alice)-while the rest of the album was produced by Jana herself and day one collaborator Chris Hewett. The critics were impressed too-"Bahrich's choruses, almost every one, are lumpin-your-throat gorgeous." NME; "Jana Bahrich seems too young for this tremendous debut's ambitious anthems." Uncut; "A rewarding experience that captures a talented, young artist at the crossroads between adolescence and adulthood." Paste.Live, Francis of Delirium are Jana (guitar and vocals), Jeff Hennico (bass) and Denis Schumacher (drums). Together, their brilliant quiet-loud dynamic and tight interplay only elevate her songs and over the last 5 years, they've toured across Europe and North America, playing headline shows, festivals and tours with the likes of Blondshell, Briston Maroney, The Districts, Horsegirl and Soccer Mommy. They've also supported The 1975, Alanis Morissette, DIIV and Wolf Alice.Last summer saw a memorable UK tour with Bôa, the 90s band resurrected by a huge TikTok moment for their track 'Duvet'. There was a real sense of excitement for these shows with young crowds snaking outside every venue hours before doors and bringing the sort of energy Jana thrives on, she road tested new material to an overwhelmingly positive response, giving her the impetus to go and finish album two.An artist who seeks to connect with her listener on a deeper level, it's no surprise then that she's made hope and inner strength central themes on her new album, Run, Run Pure Beauty. Jana says the title track is "an imagining of the world after it has been destroyed by humans and technology. Thrashing against what humans have left behind, ultimately the pure beauty of nature wins out." Wanting to bring different perspectives into her songwriting with this record - informed by both her travels and the tumultuous times we find ourselves in - she's also brought about a progression in her sound with these new songs somehow sounding larger, with undeniable harmonies and more orchestration.Featuring the singles 'Little Black Dress' and 'It's a Beautiful Life', Run, Run Pure Beauty serves as an excavation of hope in bleak times. Produced by Jana and Chris, and mixed by Nicolas Vernhes (Deerhunter, Dirty Projectors, Silver Jews, Wild Nothing), it's eleven songs of discovery, despair and perseverance ultimately serve as a mirror on it's creator and is a brilliant next installment in the Francis of Delirium arc.

Five CD set. The complete recordings by Manchester beat group Freddie And The Dreamers for EMI in the 1960s compiled and annotated by respected author and pop historian Bob Stanley of St. Etienne. The band were also loved in the USA where they were part of the "British Invasion", 'I'm Tellin' You Now' topped The Billboard Hot 100 and they reached the Top 20 with 'Do The Freddie'. Two albums, Sing-Along Party (1965) and what Bob Stanley refers to as a "psychedelic pop primer for kids" Oliver In The Overworld (1970) are issued on CD for the first time plus another makes it's debut on CD in the UK, King Freddie And His Dreaming Knights (1967).

CD. Since forming in 2012, FREE THROW's story has been simple: keep going. New records, longer tours, bigger rooms-it's always been another step upward for the Nashville-basedquintet, whose 2014 debut, Those Days Are Gone, has become an era-defining classic in the emo-punk genre, launching them onto global tours with Hot Mulligan and New Found Glory andslots at Slam Dunk, Riot Fest, and The Fest. Every milestone has pushed them ahead, but ontheir sixth LP, Moments Before The Wind (Wax Bodega), that constant charge gradually slows, suspended mid-step, mid-thought, mid-life. Recorded with longtime producer Brett Romnes on either end of the sold-out Those Days Are Gone 10-year tour, the follow-up to 2023's Lessons That We Swear To Keep chronicles a surrealist descent into liminality: a period of intense personal upheaval colored by loss, renewal, reflection, and, ultimately, life-altering joy through the impending birth of a child. The 11-songset is disarmingly real, colored by sonic spontaneity-a swirl of Midwest emo, sweat-soakedpunk fervor, and crashing alternative rock-but also the sort of achingly vulnerable lyricism fansand critics have come to expect from the band. Through it all, Momentsfinds Free Throw still moving, still growing, but now, perhaps more than ever, acutely aware that the path ahead is neither straight nor obvious. There's a quiet confidence guiding them there into a brand-new era, ready for whatever the wind blows their way.

Disc One: I've been for a long time enamored with the way albums from the late '60s-early '70s were written and recorded, where the band would hole up in some remote farmhouse in the country and crank out a masterpiece. We finally took the plunge and ensconced ourselves in beautiful Northern Spain for two weeks in July 2024. Disc Two: Yet more nostalgia... also been wanting to record a covers record for some time and worked out the following criteria: (1) deep-cut rock music from my sweet spot, the aforementioned '60s-early '70s and (2) tunes with instrumental sections that could be argued as to be "progressive" in nature, in most cases songs that were a little outside the more well-known pop tunes those artists were known for. Songs featured include deep tracks from Iron Butterfly, Kinks, Mountain, Spirit, Procolo Harum, Traffic, Steppenwolf, The Guess Who, James Gang and more.

The midwest, particularly the part of the midwest Eric D. Johnson hails from, is a largely flatexpanse. Zipping through it on the highway, you'll see cities and towns rise up in the distance, but blink and you'll miss other man-made rejoinders to horizontal living dotting the landscape, hill after hill, built from the refuse of the past: landfills. Some of these hills make for greatsledding spots, parks, and trails. Others turn organic waste into compost. The Landfill issomething else entirely: a mountain dominating the landscape of Johnson's heart.Over the course of his now 25-year career under the Fruit Bats moniker, most of Eric D.Johnson's output has been the product of patience and fine-tuning. His songs, to borrow aphrase, are slow growers, given life on albums that encompass long stretches of time andmemory. Baby Man changed that - he disallowed himself from referring to material he'dbeen working on before laying the album down, utilizing the morning pages technique ofstream-of-consciousness, observational songwriting which flowed directly into his afternoonrecording sessions. It was both a breathtaking document of Johnson's skill as a singer-songwriter and an unvarnished account of the two weeks in which he recorded the album.Baby Man's closeness to Johnson's heart and the close attention to his voice and instrument it'sminimalist-maximalist ethos required uncorked something in him as he wrote towards a newfull band effort. "That session was over," he explains, "but there was way more to explore. Iliked the immediacy of it, and I wanted to see how that would translate into a full-band FruitBats record." Within weeks, he was back in a studio, this time with his band - David Dawda(bass), Josh Mease (guitars, synth), Frank LoCrasto (piano, synth), and Kosta Galanopoulos(drums) - with whom Johnson has spent over a decade building Fruit Bats into one of themost in-demand live acts in indie rock. Listening to The Landfill, it's not hard to understand why:simply put, this band smokes.Producing the initial recording sessions in Washington's Bear Creek Studios, Johnson set outto capture "the sound of this band I constantly marvel at, the feeling of being in a room withmusicians you love and trust enough to let them cook." They laid most of it down on thefloor - no click tracks, no comped vocals, and minimal overdubs, with frequent collaboratorThom Monahan returning to provide additional production and The Landfill's final mix. "It'show we do things with my other band, Bonny Light Horseman, and I was curious to see howit would work with Fruit Bats," Johnson notes. "It's both a very personal record, and my mostcollaborative to date."It's also the most live a Fruit Bats record has been since 2009's The Ruminant Band, and inparing back the number of tracks that typically layer a full-band song, the psychedelic, technicolor dreaminess of their sound is more vivid than ever. Time and space melt into thesublime as the band gels around Johnson's hazy croon on "That Goddamn Sun," stretching outto accommodate him as he trips from California to North Carolina. In striking a balancebetween ecstatic romance and melancholia, "Think Aboutcha" occupies the blissful-but-doomed intersection of the E Street Band and Paul McCartney, playful but playing for stakesthat are larger than life, while "Perhaps We're a Storm" charges headlong into the unknown. All of these songs - most of the songs on The Landfill, in fact - mark themselvesimmediately as some of the best in Eric D. Johnson's ever-expanding songbook, seekers andanthems alike. It's the most daunting peak he's scaled yet, musically or lyrically: aswashbuckling set of full-band jammers couldn't be more honest and open-hearted about hishopes and anxieties, his dreams and fa

Long in the making and rich in imagination, Diary of a Teenage Prophet completes composer-producer Alex Wroten's Gatekeepers Trilogy with a darkly funny, genre-defying sci-fi epic that blurs the line between philosophy and pop.The story follows Bonnie Brown, a teenage eco-rebel who's cryogenically frozen during a nuclear apocalypse and awakens thousands of years later to discover her teenage diary has become the basis for a world religion.Featuring a staggering cast of collaborators - including members of Cheer-Accident, Shawn Phillips, Henry Kaiser, Amy Denio, Hugh Banton (Van der Graaf Generator), Morgan Ã…gren (Kaipa, Mats/Morgan), Ron Geesin, Fernando Perdomo and more - the album expands Wroten's surreal sonic universe into something both hilarious and unsettling.Available as a CD deluxe digipak with a 16-page lyric and art booklet and two exclusive bonus remixes - an essential edition of this ambitious 50-collaborator finale.

Across three years marred by a hurricane, a pandemic, and a life upended, Karl Kuehn found solace the only way he knew how: picking up any instrument within reach and forming songs that would become Blue Water - his debut album under his moniker Gay Meat, a record that gently, lovingly says goodbye to his mom. Piecing together the sepia patchwork of memories through a child's eyes, the album's 13 tracks were written alone, chronicling the anticipatory grief and the immediate aftermath of loss. Friends including Jeff Rosenstock, Chris Farren, Sarah Tudzin (illuminati hotties), Lamont Brown (RNIE) and Taylor Haag lent their vocals and instrumentation across the record, with production from Brett Scott and Alex Thompson. Eclectic in it's sonic space, the album details the overflowing, chaotic state of sorrow that ebbs and flows between the quiet and still nature of realization, synths and guitars and keys coalescing like the influx of every emotion.

Geese return with their 3rd album, ‘Getting Killed’. They tracked the album with Kenneth Blume in 10 fast-paced days. With scant time for overdubbing, what emerged is a chaotic comedy, shambolic in structure but passionately performed, informed by an exacting vision. Big riffs are layered on choir samples; hissing drum machines pulse softly behind screeching guitars. They balance a disarming tenderness with an intensified anger, trading their love of classic rock for a disdain for music itself.

GEESE / PROJECTOR - Geese is a band that begins and ends in Brooklyn, as a project between friends to build a home studio out of a basement. Their songs are born from the same ambition: make music by any means necessary. They began recording together with sneakers as mic stands and blankets draped over the amps, all within the afternoon following a school day, up until they ran the risk of noise complaints. Recently, they signed a record deal, so they are thinking about moving on from sneaker-laden mics and blanketed amps, but their musical ethos has not changed a bit. Curiously alien, yet strangely familiar, the band's debut album, Projector, is a product of five teenagers whose love of music touches every part of their lives: their restless anxiety about their futures, and their pent-up frustration with their present-a perspective all too familiar in today's uncertain world.

The 2 disc set features a show from 1987 that captures Genesis at the peak of their popularity - at a time when they were all over the media. It's a concert with sugary pop and catchy dance tunes, but one that also features, at the same time, superb musicianship and extended instrumental jamming. After this, the band would only record one more album before Phil Collins left the group for a solo career.
