After the success of Codeine's Frigid Stars LP, the trio of Stephen Immerwahr, John Engle, and Chris Brokaw booked time at Harold Dessau Recording in June 1992 to track an eight-song sophomore album. A few days and a couple of unexplainable high-pitched frequencies later, the record was scrapped, shelved, and forgotten about. Brokaw left the band shortly after, and these songs were re-tracked in various iterations for Codeine's final LP. Numero has unearthed these recordings, restoring the original White Birch to the band's exacting standards with producer Mike McMackin. A slowcore masterpiece hidden in plain sight and on compact disc for the first time. UPC: 825764190077Label: NumeroRelease Date: 7.24.26Format: CD
Cost of Living Adjustment is the sort-of self-titled album from Cola, the Montreal trio of Tim Darcy (vocals/guitar), Ben Stidworthy (bass), and Evan Cartwright (percussion). C.O.L.A. " an acronym for Cost of Living Adjustment " is a fitting conceptual framework for the band's third record. Why? Because C.O.L.A. considers, among other things, socialism vs. Hell. It considers: rolling the dice of life. The erie and sweet pangs that nostalgia can provoke. Following two studio LPs which earned the trio praise from Rolling Stone (Best Indie Rock Albums of 2024), Pitchfork (Best Rock Albums of 2024), Stereogum (Best Songs of 2022) and more, Cost of Living Adjustment is abstract, oblique, sometimes strange, whatever you want to call it. But it is also beautiful, in the classic sense. Beautiful like a painting can be beautiful. It touches on the sublime. It is Cola, the band, at their very best.

American Idol's Colton Dixon has announced the April 28th release of his 7-song EP, CANVAS. CANVAS and "My Light" follow the biggest song of Dixon's career to-date "Build A Boat," which, at 10 weeks became the longest running No. 1 Mediabase Christian AC song of 2022, also spawning "Build A Boat (feat. Gabby Barrett)," with MULTI-PLATINUM and award-winning Country star Gabby Barrett. "Over the last couple of years, we've all been in a dark place," he admits. "It was like, 'Man, I'm not sure if the world will come back'. In my case, I didn't know if I'd ever tour again. The twins were born in the same year I lost my main source of income-which is touring. It was scary. If I've ever been afraid, I know there's someone who loves me and will guide me through - God is my light, but we all can relate to people in our lives that help strengthen us as well and keep us going. It's such a fun song but it's message is what I love most about it." In addition to "My Light" and both versions of "Build A Boat," CANVAS features four other tunes including the anthemic "Giants," written and produced by Grammy-nominee Joe London (Jason Derulo, Lizzo, Thomas Rhett), the piano-driven "Hold Onto Hope," a fire-filled vocal performance on "Unbreakable," and the delicate title-track, "Canvas." This product is an authorized manufactured on demand CD-R

With a 2021 GRAMMY win for his work alongside Esperanza Spalding, composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Corey King has quietly become one of contemporary music's most versatile voices. His career spans collaborations with artists as varied as Milton Nascimento, Gil Scott-Heron, Bonobo, DJ Premier, and Iggy Pop, shaping a sound that moves fluidly between jazz, soul, experimental songwriting, and cinematic composition. On Change the Wind, King brings that range into a focused, deeply personal statement. Written across years of upheaval and transition, the album balances intimacy with scope, moving between quiet reflection and expansive, full-band arrangements. Themes of resilience, clarity, and emotional recalibration run throughout, giving the record a sense of cohesion that feels lived-in rather than conceptual. At it's core is a profound sense of devotion and vulnerability, most clearly felt in "R.M.K," a luminous piece inspired by the birth of King's daughter. Without lingering on narrative detail, the song anchors the album emotionally, setting the tone for a body of work concerned with care, responsibility, and the fragility of connection. Elsewhere, King explores love, doubt, and personal growth with a light but steady touch, favoring mood and movement over explicit storytelling. Musically, Change the Wind is rich without being dense. Warm piano, layered vocals, and chamber-like brass arrangements are threaded through with broken-beat rhythms and subtle electronic textures. At times the record leans into groove and propulsion, with Afrobeat-informed passages and dynamic horn sections, while elsewhere it pulls back into sparse, intimate spaces. Contributions from close collaborators, including Spalding and trumpeter Takuya Kuroda, add depth without overwhelming the album's cohesive feel. Rather than spotlighting individual tracks, Change the Wind reveals itself as a complete listening experience, one that unfolds gradually and rewards attention over time. It is a record about steady transformation, about finding clarity

Cory Branan has never been interested in fitting into a genre. For him, the only constant has been the song itself — where it wants to go, what it needs, and how honestly its story can be told. Across a career that has spanned two decades, seven albums, and more than a few vans, he's built a reputation as a restless writer dedicated to the exploration of it all, pulling from punk, folk, country, rock, and Southern roots music without settling long enough to claim any one of them as home. "This is an orphanage," says the Memphis native, nodding to a record whose 10 songs were collected over nearly 20 years, each one initially tossed into the archives for not quite fitting whatever album he was making at the time. Taken together, they form a proudly unruly mosaic: fragments of different eras, different impulses, and different versions of the same songwriter. Instead of a singular tale, "You'll Live" unwinds like ten self-contained stories that sit side-by-side, recorded quickly in Nashville and pulled together by a musical lifer that Rolling Stone calls "a country boy with a punk-rock heart." The 33rd album by The Council of Thirteen is a slice of American rock styles of the 60s, 70s and 80s. 15 new songs written by keyboardist/composer John W. Edwards. Beginning with the CCR-infused title track, followed by "Light Ahead" a piece of new wave pop with a Joni Mitchell-like vocals. The seventies light rock feel of "Every Day Feels Right" is followed by the Natalie Merchant-influenced "New Ways To See. "Still Waiting On Line" is a plaintive 80's pop/rock duet. "You Should Know" adds a poignant song about second loves dealing with the knowledge of a first love. "Black and White" is an emotive bluesy/jazz-tinged story of interracial love and the complications around it. "Just One Chance" has that anthemic Richard Marx/Benny Mardones/John Parr vibe while "Back Where I Started" has a country rock feeling. "I Know This Feeling" channels Karla Bonoff/Wendy Waldman/Laura Nyro stylings. "Every Life I've Lived" has a very 80's singer songwriter feel that reminisces of Dan Fogelberg, Dan Seals or Gene Cotton. "Between The Lines We Draw" has a flair for the dramatic in a Springsteen style. "Common Ground" has an almost progressive tinged Kansas/Styx sound. "Still Standing In Line" is female led country-rock in a Dolly Parton style. "Silent Night" is an epic intense ending song about a soldier alone in a deserted outpost in space. The 32nd album by The Council of Thirteen is a return to the classic rock stylings of the Council. 16 new songs written by keyboardist/composer John W. Edwards. Beginning with the dreamy duet, "When She Closes Her Eyes" about a woman who lives secret lives deep inside her head. Standout track, "Astra Vale" is a monster YouTube hit with it's haunting Chvrches style and gothic edge. The title track, "Electric Kiss" is an uptempo rocker with three part female harmonies. A Lita Ford-style tune "Closer To The Edge' follows. The album take a sharp turn into sassy Shania Twain meets ZZ Top style for "Dangerous Smile", "Everywhere I Turn" and "What Him Walk". "Floating On A Daydream" is a melodic modern ballad with energy. "When It's Finally Us" is a dramatic semi-gothic anthem. The bluesy torch song "The Long Exhale" completes the album. The 34th album by The Council of Thirteen continues the progressive and classic rock sounds of the Council. 16 new songs written by keyboardist/composer John W. Edwards. Leading off is the title track with a full ELO/Roxy Music vibe, followed by "No Expectations" an edgy rock tune with a Foreigner edge. The tongue-in-cheek playful "You're Not Mine, But I Want You To Be" is next with a male/female call and response. "The Wave Still Flows" is an ode to the music of the new wave era. "Sailing Somewhere" is an anthemic ballad with a slow build. "I'm Always On Your Mind" is an ethereal female vocal tune with a tear-jerker element. "You Don't Mean To" has a flavor of Cliff Richard 70s/80s songs. "Chasing Love" emulates a Patty Smyth energy and "Beyond The Lines" is an ELO influence power ballad. Following is the gothic heartbreaker "A Beautiful Kind Of Damage". "Let The Dark In" is progressive gothic anthem in the Siouxsie and the Banshees tradition. "Neon Don't Lie" is an energetic driving rocker. "Right Where You Are" is pure 80s male pop/rock. "Same Old Scene" is a light danceable pop high energy tune with a 10,000 Maniacs vibe. "Still When She Moves" is another piece of dark gothic pop/rock with emotive female vocals. "Nothing Left To Prove" closes the album with a heartfelt male vocal with a flavor of John Parr. ELO, Roxy Music, Kansas, Honeymoon Suite, REO Speedwagon, Alan Parsons Project, Asia, Genesis, Cheap Trick, Foreigner, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar, Journey, Styx, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Buggles and more!
