Stakes is High is the 4th studio album by de la Soul, released on July 2, 1996. Stakes is High was critically lauded for it's music, lyricism, and it's overall message concerning the artistic decline rap music began to face in the mid-90s. The title track and first single was produced by J Dilla and the album's second single, "Itzsoweezee (HOT)", with only Dave on vocals, was accompanied by a creative music video. The album spawned a third single "4 More", featuring Zhane. The album did provide a launching pad for future star rappers and actors Mos Def, who appeared on the track "Big Brother Beat" and Common who is featured on "The Bizness"

Future Development is Del the Funky Homosapien’s third album and, following his departure from major label Elektra, his first solo full-length for his independent label, Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings. Originally released on cassette in 1997, and later reissued on CD and vinyl in 2002, the album largely relied on in-house production from Del along with contributions from Hiero crew members A-Plus, Opio, and Toure. The only guest feature on the album is from crew member Casual, who joins Del on the energetic “Checking Out The Rivalry.” Sonically, Future Development bridges the funk-heavy stylings of Del’s debut with the darker, more futuristic textures he explored on No Need for Alarm. Lyrically, Del refines his rapid-fire wordplay with sharper thematic focus, tackling life in Oakland, societal observations and hip-hop culture, all with a blend of humor, streetwise insight, and multi-syllabic dexterity. Ultimately, the album captures a snapshot of his progression from raw talent to a more conceptually matured songwriter. It remains a significant and under-appreciated chapter in Del’s evolution, showcasing early seeds of the creativity and independence that would come to define much of his career thereafter.

Vibes 3, the crucial 2016 album from Austin hip hop beatrepreneur The Deli, gained massive attention upon it's release - and it continues to grow in appreciation from worldwide hip hop heads. The album's centerpiece, the delightfully breezy ""Flowers,"" has racked up 26 million Spotify plays on it's own, with the full album cracking an astonishing 37 million and The Deli himself gaining 1.7 million monthly listeners. In The Deli's case, this success in the digital realm only whets an appetite for the physical. Now Cold Busted is remastering and repressing the out-of-print Vibes 3 LP on vinyl. And it's purple vinyl to boot. The album's 18 cuts serve up proper old school vibes, dropping beats that'll make one reminisce while also anticipating the new. In addition to ""Flowers,"" the album contains other worthy contenders like the smooth ""Luv Shxt,"" which grooves with gentle jazz guitar and a lonely horn under a snappy beat; ""Rain"" and it's simple introspection; the lovely lazy ride of ""4Tina;"" and album opener ""1B4W"" which sets things properly on the smoky late-night-lounging tip. More than just Vibes 3 - this one's got vibes for days.

Underground Hip Hop vets, Dillon & Paten Locke aroused appetites with their 2016 standout release, 'Food Chain', the follow-up to 2009's cult classic, 'Studies in Hunger' and prequel to 2025's 'Rations'. The flagship release of their fledgling label, FULL PLATE, 'Food Chain' opened many doors (and ears) for the Atlanta, GA /Jacksonville, FL based crew, setting the table for their sprawling catalog today. Produced entirely by Paten Locke (the Boston-bred triple threat who cut his teeth with Mr. Lif, Akrobatik, Edan and his groups: Asamov + The Smile Rays), Food Chain's recipe starts with rugged chops of impossibly rare samples from Paten's world-renowned vinyl collection. Once that's simmering, just add Dillon's razor sharp rhymes; ranging from aggressively self-sure to deeply self-reflective, then finish with their signature seasoning - comedic relief! Food Chain also boasts an impressive list of guest features including Count Bass D, Homeboy Sandman, Supa Dave West, J-Live, Von Pea of Tanya Morgan, Phill Most Chill, Boog Brown, Malkovich, Tone Tank and their FULL PLATE FAM, Willie Evans Jr. Too many chefs? We say, 'Let 'em cook!!' Now 10 years later this critically acclaimed album receives the treatment it deserves: a proper double LP pressing of the album in it's entirety - including a lost bonus intro + bespoke poster insert. 2016's pressing was an abridged single LP that was missing songs, interludes & skits in order to fit the time limits of the format. With the 2xLP, you finally get to enjoy the full album, they way it was meant to be heard. What makes this 10th Anniversary reissue even heavier is that Paten Locke passed in 2019 and never got to see the full impact of his work, so this release doubles as a delicious celebration of Paten's lifelong creative pursuits & accomplishments.

Critical Thot is the bold new collaborative album from Bay Area-based rapper/producerSha Ray, and producer/electronic musician DJ Haram-two uncompromising artistsreshaping rap and experimental sound. It is an intriguing pairing; Haram is one-half ofthe duo 700 Bliss with rapper and poet Moor Mother and has several solo records underher belt-including 2025's critically acclaimed Beside Myself (Hyperdub)-and highprofile collaborations with BbyMutha, Fever Ray, Ghais Guevara, and Armand Hammer.Meanwhile, although Critical Thot is Sha Ray's official debut album, her reputation as anext-wave talent precedes her. Haram got wise in 2022 when she saw Sha Ray performat a show in Brooklyn."We spoke at the venue and after that I followed her on social media. She gave anincredible performance, so later on when she slid in my DMs asking for beats, I wasalready on board," Haram explains. An Armand Hammer/DJ Haram show in LA was the nexus for these connections toyield fruit. Sha Ray flew down from the Bay to link with Haram, and although the twodidn't end up recording anything that day, it was the springboard for the cross-countrycollaboration that culminated in Critical Thot. The whole album was made remotely:Haram cooking up beats in Brooklyn and sending them to Sha Ray, who would sendback demos and notes. They got to know each other as artists, and as people, while theyworked on this project."Haram and I have had so many overlapping experiences working as women in themusic industry, which really enriched our bond. That, and her very striking approach toproduction, really inspired a lot of the writing on this record," Sha Ray says. That writing is razor sharp and refreshingly direct. Sha Ray quickly proves herself to bein a class of her own, navigating even the knottiest of DJ Haram productions withouttaking her foot off the gas. Haram digs deep into her bag with beats that run the gamutfrom experimental and abrasive to slinky fun to darkly foreboding. Percussive thuds andshots are layered with intricate details and soft linings. A trappy banger dissolves intoa flood of strings. A sparse industrial soundscape slowly coheres into a cacophonousuppercut of a rap record. Sha Ray bobs and weaves her way through every drum breakand synth with a defiant ease."As a rapper I'm pretty exclusively interested in interrogating misogyny and sexuality inmy work. Critical Thot is a deliberation on unapologetic feminine authority, while beingvery honest about the complicated truth of being a participant in self-objectification,and sexuality as a social currency," Sha Ray elaborates. "This record focuses a lot ondefining power in feminine sexuality as relational and ever-shifting, and thus inherentlyimperfect. However, it is a power that I have and I am going to use it."Critical Thot features contributions from Nappy Nina, JWords, and Archangel.

DJ Spanish Fly is one of the foundational figures of Memphis rap. Long before the city's underground sound would influence artists across the globe, his homemade mixtapes circulated hand-to-hand throughout Tennessee and the wider South, defining a raw, bass-heavy style that would become the blueprint for generations of rap producers. Cadillac Warning collects a wealth of previously unreleased recordings from the 1990s, excavating the eerie, hypnotic world Fly built from primitive home recording equipment, drum machines and booming car stereos. Named after the talking alarm system in his prized 1978 Cadillac Coup DeVille, the album captures a period when the car was both status symbol and mobile headquarters, carrying his music from clubs and college campuses to gas stations and neighbourhood streets across Memphis.Championed by the likes of A$AP Rocky, Legowelt, LIM, and more - DJ Spanish Fly's lasting impact on the wider hip-hop landscape is seeing a renewed global interest from underground rap and electronic music communities alike.

Somewhere in the hills of Cincinnati, there's a transmitter sending radio waves in every direction. The electricity flows through the air and hits your receiver with a charge that, when amplified, emits an organic sound that could only be... Doctor Bionic. They're back with a brand new album-the fourth installment in the Terrestrial Radio series, titled Electric Pollen. Like it's predecessors, the album was recorded, produced, and mixed by Cincinnati based producer Grimez. He calls on a rotating cast of talented musicians to record instrumentals that are best described as Organic Groove. "We get together in the studio, hit record, and start jamming," Grimez explained. "I'd say 90% of our music is improvised." Fans of the project will notice plenty of familiar names in the liner notes. "You are now tuned in to Terrestrial Radio... Coming to you live with Doctor Bionic." At the top of side A, "The Eyes of Chavez" begins with a short introduction from the Cincinnati rapper Crunch Ex and a simple, hypnotizing guitar riff (Brad Myers). Underneath, drummer Marvin Hawkins and bassist Kevaugh Byers provide a rock solid groove for the other musicians to build upon. The refrain arrives in the form of an undeniably catchy melody, performed in unison on the saxophone, trumpet, and keys by Charlie Suits, Eric Snyder, and DJ On Tha One, respectively. The perfect opener, this track is like a sample platter of what's to come throughout the rest of the album. Doctor Bionic has a knack for keeping things fresh. The second track, "Moment of Clarity," transports the listener to the VIP section of a smoky cocktail lounge. A soothing piano loop sets the tone, and plucky electric guitar strums keep the groove moving forward at a leisurely pace. Despite the stylistic changes from song to song, the album is sonically cohesive. With the added introduction and transitional commentary from the DJ (Crunch Ex), the album plays like a perfect radio mix. Although the recording sessions are casual and spontaneous, each finished D.B. album always follows a conceptual theme. The subject is often determined by artwork that speaks to Grimez. "I'll buy or license a piece of art that catches my eye, and then put music to it," he explained. "I have plenty of pieces that are ready to be album art, but I don't have the right music for it yet." This process is part of what makes Doctor Bionic's music different from other instrumental producers.

The Live Laugh Love campaign is rooted in themes of wellness, growth, and the philosophy behind the album title, Live Laugh Love. While irony is used as a tool for laughter, the sentiment is real. It reflects Earl’s current way of life, choosing joy while staying grounded in truth.LLL brings a sense of nostalgia. It reminds us of a time when life felt full of simplicity and genuine connection. But this isn’t blind optimism. Blood, guts, and darkness live alongside the joy. LLL holds space for contradiction and chooses love anyway. *** Indie Exclusive ***UPC: 093624827931Label: Warner RecordsRelease Date: 10.24.25Format: Vinyl

Originally released in 2009 on Fat Beats Records, Enter the 37th Chamber transformed iconic Wu-Tang Clan songs into gritty, fully live instrumentals inspired by the cinematic production style of RZA. What began as an experimental tribute quickly became a worldwide cult classic embraced by DJs, record collectors, hip-hop fans, and members of Wu-Tang themselves. After hearing the project, RZA famously said: “This is American music right here.”Led by saxophonist/organist Leon Michels and producer/engineer Jeff Silverman, El Michels Affair blends vintage soundtrack music, early reggae, and raw analog soul into what the group calls “Cinematic Soul.”Over the years, the album has taken on a life of its own, heard everywhere from independent record shops and radio stations to restaurants, film sets, and even theme parks across multiple continents. Nearly two decades later, Enter the 37th Chamber remains one of the defining releases in the Fat Beats catalog and a landmark recording in instrumental hip-hop and cinematic soul. The vinyl features an embossed jacket with spot gloss on upgraded weight paper stock and a special color variant.

Two turntables and a microphone. There is a truth in the clarity of that simple coda, a truth that also belies the breadth of what is possible within it's confines. Sometimes you gotta get reminded. I Guess U Had To Be There, the new album from NYC rapper ELUCID and veteran producer Sebb Bash, is one of those ones. So fresh it sounds like it was made tomorrow, but bet money you could put this on in '89 and get heads bopping. There are moments in music when masters of their craft cross paths at the height of their respective powers-records like Madvillainy, Liquid Swords, Dr. Octagonecologyst, and Hell Hath No Fury-where the result is more than the sum of it's parts. ELUCID and Sebb Bash find themselves in this heady, seemingly effortless ephemera on I Guess U Had To Be There. Everything is both familiar and groundbreaking. The beats shift and flip under ELUCID's feet but he tightropes it all, delivery nimble as a mountain goat, producer and rapper moving in perfect synchronization. Some shining stars make memorable appearances: billy woods, Breezly Brewin, Estee Nack, Shabaka Hutchings. But this is a two-man show, and the duo keep the spotlight where it belongs. I Guess U Had To Be There is a captivating, convention-defying listen and a highwater mark for two of the best artists in the genre.

Emapea, the renowned beat-maker from Poland, burst upon the scene with multiple compilation appearances on Cold Busted, an inclusion on Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz 8, and his stunning debut album Seeds, Roots & Fruits. Fans and headz worldwide have been clamoring for a follow-up, but all Emapea wanted to do was just 'zone out.' And that's what happened, with the release of Emapea's twenty song album Zoning Out, Volume 1. Emapea's cuts are meant for the listener to get lost in - but they're not only for chilling, or when deep in thought, but also for getting in that crucial head-nod zone, like when the DJ drops the dopest beat. Expertly crafted and sequenced, the album presents a boom-bap journey that's dreamy and spacey while remaining tough and jazzy. ""Check It Out"" exemplifies the mood with it's smooth drums, chiming keys, subtle sax riffs, and hip hop shout-outs. The vibe expands on ""Motion"", adding an exotic, worldly flavor to the seductively loping rhythm. And ""Classy"" features a smokey saloon piano melody that cruises smugly out of jeep-beat speakers. This track was recently featured on a limited postcard record, mailed surreptitiously to lucky Emapea supporters.Zoning Out, Volume 1 defines Emapea as an artist to watch on the international beat scene.

With his acclaimed debut album Seeds, Roots & Fruits, an inclusion on Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz 8, and notable Cold Busted compilation appearances, the Polish beat-master Emapea has been a producer to watch. Early in 2018 he unveiled Zoning Out, Volume 1, an album intended for chilling while deep in thought, or for getting into that crucial head-nod zone, like when the DJ drops the dopest beat. With listeners ready for more rhythmic brain-food, Emapea provides with the anticipated next installment: Zoning Out, Volume 2. Developing the theme of Volume 1, Emapea takes his jazzy sensibilities and fresh drum patterns and ups the ante, delivering 18 mandatory cuts that swerve and shimmy while exhibiting pure dopeness. Take ""Last Cypher,"" which is an infectious funk-hip-hop hybrid that flows with more than a few surprise embellishments. There's also the low-rider spy-hop of ""Big Small Talks""; ""Tantra"" with it's smooth, old school ride; the sensual boom bap of ""Blue Almonds""; and the infectious, latin-lounge-tinged ""Rainy Day"". These are no-nonsense beat compositions, perfect for thinking, for grooving, for dreaming, for zoning out. Emapea and Cold Busted come correct once again.

The OG of prairie folk rap returns with Heater In My Truck II, an album that is a sequel in both name and spirit to his vinyl-only album from 2003. Epic proves here that he is a master at manifesting the mundane through music, touching on such exciting topics as his "Old Shit Out in the Garage," putting a "Survey in a Box," and the beautiful "Wallpaper," all done with a mix of earnest honesty and humble humour. He also honours the roots of hip hop with songs like "Lethal Test Pressings" and "Cassettes," along with plenty of references to hip hop history matched in number only by his references to Canadiana. You can tell these are two things close to his heart. Unlike his last two albums, Heater In My Truck II taps the talents of multiple producers, such as Moka Only, Moves, Maki, Aries, Gods & Nmbrs, and more, but the album is purposefully curated to create a jazzy, chill vibe with enough upbeat bops to get the toes tapping along with the head nodding. Recorded alongside the darker, heavier, and more experimental A Library Called Calder, Heater II is more emo folk rap than that album or even Nassau Manor. And to provide a little more vocal variety, Epic calls on the lyrical prowess of his friends Noah23, Emprime, Inky, Aries, and newcomer 33, who all add their own unique touch to the proceedings. Yet another choice addition to the legacy of late-era Epic.

Five-time WCMA nominee Evil Ebenezer returns with Steroid Era, a 12-track project that masterfully uses baseball as a metaphor for the high-pressure world of the music industry.
