Songwriter and vocalist Peppi Marchello was the founder of the legendary Long Island hard rock/AOR outfit The Good Rats. The band amassed an enormous regional following but never managed to break through on a nationwide scale. By 1984, The Good Rats were history, and Peppi Marchello turned his attention to a solo album. Before long, Marchello teamed up with his son Gene, an up-and-coming guitarist in his own right. The project was initially intended to be called Popzarocca, but CBS Records felt it was wiser for Marchello senior to remain behind the scenes as songwriter and producer, placing the spotlight on Gene as the band's guitarist and vocalist. In March 1989, Marchello's debut album Destiny hit the shelves, combining high-quality AOR and melodic heavy rock with Gene's impressive fretboard skills. The song "First Love" was chosen as the lead single and received heavy rotation on MTV. Today, Destiny is widely regarded as a forgotten gem of the genre. However, this was not the end of Marchello's journey. The band soon began work on a second album, with songs such as "Every Man's Lover," "Wall of Paper," and the epic "All God's Angels" slated for release by CBS in 1991. Ultimately, the album's release was canceled by the label for reasons unknown. Thanks to High Roller Records, listeners can now finally hear Power of Money and discover for themselves that it is as good as Marchello's debut album - if not better.

Composers including Hans Zimmer (Dune, Interstellar) and Howard Shore (Lord of the Rings) have become a huge influence on the band. “So much more than any metal being written today,” Niklas states. “Every one of us would rather listen to the ‘Inception’ soundtrack. It’s timeless. When I get stuck writing, those tools and inspiration are there, whether it’s cellos or pianos which adds texture. We write very easy riffs and structures, so turning to someone like Hans Zimmer leads us to taking the ending of a songs like ‘Inferna’ and making the final chorus bigger and more cinematic.”
Produced by the band and mixed by Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Humanity’s Last Breath, Thrown), “Death Above Life” is a statement for metal: its present and future. It’s also a crucial next step for ORBIT CULTURE as they continue to define themselves and metal, as a whole. “We play metal,” says Karlsson. “We have influences of Djent, influences of metalcore, melodic death metal. We stay true to ourselves, and I think people are hungry for that.”

Of the plethora of legends born from the primordial ooze bubbling at New York’s most iconic punk club, CBGBs, there is only one PRONG. Forming during the venue’s late 80s renaissance period alongside hardcore legends like Gorilla Biscuits, Madball, Sick Of It All, and Biohazard, PRONG set themselves apart with melodic sensibility on formative records like Beg To Differ (1990) and Cleansing (1994), becoming mainstays on the iconic MTV’s “Headbangers Ball”. With their boundary pushing fusion of classic New York Hardcore, infectious grooves, and industrial textures PRONG laid the foundation for numerous styles of post-hardcore like groove metal, industrial metal, and crossover thrash.
As the band’s mission statement, Prong incorporates the well of styles their legacy is built on. Blistering thrash sections, open into lush choruses on opening anthem “The Banner”, before somehow pushing the intensity even further on “New Commission”. “The Uprising” reintroduces the band’s industrial edge, weaponizing textured synths over a pulsating two-step, before “Uncertain Truth” flexes its melodic chops, offering a transcendently sweet hook. Immediately the band dropkicks listeners in the chest with the pummeling “Fear The Sun” inciting classic New York Hardcore pit violence. Iconic vocalist and guitarist Tommy Victor’s chops come out in full swing on “Proportionate Response”, a smoldering incitement of retaliatory justice, before the blistering kicks of “Simulated Drowning” propel us forward. Album closer “Our Continuance" brings things to a cataclysmic close with its menacingly methodical pulse and pummelingly discordant breakdowns, tied together with a lush chorus amplified with swelling synth textures.
