Originally released in 1989 via Noise Records, 'Changing Times' was the only full-length record Mania produced, slotting in neatly alongside the power metal of fellow countrymen Helloween, Running Wild and Blind Guardian. Formed in Hamburg in 1982, Mania released their first demo in 1983, and eventually, after heavy touring and more demo releases, signed to Noise Records, releasing their debut mini-LP in 1988 to positive reviews. Their sole full-length album emerged in 1989, and despite tours with acts like Doro and Heavens Gate, the band splintered in 1990 and broke up, leaving these recordings as their 'official' legacy. Considered something of a cult classic, 'Changing Times' is re-issued in a jewel case with expanded booklet including many archive images.

Songwriter and vocalist Peppi Marchello was the founder of the legendary Long Island hard rock/AOR outfit The Good Rats. The band amassed an enormous regional following but never managed to break through on a nationwide scale. By 1984, The Good Rats were history, and Peppi Marchello turned his attention to a solo album. Before long, Marchello teamed up with his son Gene, an up-and-coming guitarist in his own right. The project was initially intended to be called Popzarocca, but CBS Records felt it was wiser for Marchello senior to remain behind the scenes as songwriter and producer, placing the spotlight on Gene as the band's guitarist and vocalist. In March 1989, Marchello's debut album Destiny hit the shelves, combining high-quality AOR and melodic heavy rock with Gene's impressive fretboard skills. The song "First Love" was chosen as the lead single and received heavy rotation on MTV. Today, Destiny is widely regarded as a forgotten gem of the genre.

Napalm Death are credited as pioneers of the grindcore genre by incorporating elements of crust punk and death metal. Even after exerting an indelible influence in the entire world of. heavy music for nearly 40 years, there is still no band on Earth that sounds like Naplam Death. Not just pioneers, but an enduring benchmark for invention and fearlessness in a heavy and experimental music of all kinds, the Birmingham legends are still hurtling forward at full pelt.
The Melvins are one of modern music's most influential bands. Having formed in 1983, the group - founded by vocalist/guitarist Buzz Osborne, with drummer Dale Crover joining a year later - has been credited with merging the worlds of punk rock and heavy music, forming a new subgenre all their own. Over their 40-plus-year career, they've released more than 30 original albums, numerous live records, and far too many to count singles.
