Producer, multi-instrumentalist, and ABBY band member Philipp Johann Thimm boasts an impressive body of work with outstanding collaborators, among whom his work with Sascha Ring, aka Apparat, stands out as particularly prominent. A classically trained cellist, Philipp was part of the string section on the The Devil's Walk tour and co-wrote and produced the albums LP5-which received a Grammy nomination-and Hum of Maybe. The ten tracks on his second solo album, The Red Door, are multifaceted, moving fluidly between genres, opening up and breaking through musical spaces. Club tracks meet cello; indie meets pop; electronic production blends with organic elements; and intimate snapshots-like an old childhood cassette tape-are woven throughout. Featured artists include KOKA, Jamal Dilmen, Raz Ohara, Aska Matsumiya, longtime friends Ela Puc, and s.0.d (singer of the bands ABBY and GHEIST). The album was mixed by Samuel Wiese and Sascha Ring, and mastered by Mike Grinser at Manmade Mastering. Discovering this album is like opening a carefully crafted package-full of energy, trust, and shared vision-and unlocking a red door.

Contemplating the role of the album format in an attention-deficient society, Speedy J presents "Walkman", a constantly shifting, 90-minute soundtrack to a journey of your choice. Jochem Paap's first solo album in over 20 years is a freewheeling, 20-track testament to his decades-deep studio skill and sonic versatility, running from skewed rhythmic rabbit holes to exploratory tonal abandon. For Paap, the traditional idea of the album had become obscured by listening habits and the non-stop information barrage of our digital lives. Having moved on from his breakthrough years releasing LPs and touring off the back of them, he was more inspired to develop his many-sided STOOR project and feed into a bigger artistic body of work than the temporary shelf-life of a single release. As is natural for any artist, his perspective shifted over time and he found himself drawn back to the idea of an album, realizing he connected best with longer releases while he was on a walk, out for a run or generally in transit one way or another. With an endearing call back to the humble Walkman, he selected an hour and a half of material created during studio sessions at the beginning of 2025, perfectly sized to fit on two 45-minute sides of a cassette tape. As has long been the case for his studio practice, there were no fixed intentions when sitting down in the STOOR lab to start making noise - just a wealth of experience and an expansive set of tools to start exploring with. From hours of jams Paap pulled together standout moments and molded them into a mixtape-like narrative ranging from two-minute beat nuggets to full-tilt techno workouts and immersive ambient drops. Every sound is intentional, but the overall delivery is instinctive and curious, showing multiple new dimensions to Paap's sound and offering unpredictability at every turn. 'Arp Amp Chasm' opens the album up in a thick blanket of humming, harmonic waves with an electric emotional charge, while 'Ctrssalms17 (Cold Render)' journeys through evocative blooms of melancholic, gritty pads and rugged, half-submerged tech funk. 'Modern Birds (Origin Edit)' reaches skywards with grand sweeps of dynamic, brilliantly rendered synthesis. From the dexterous drum science of 'Drift Vector' to 'Osc Hop (Slow Collapse)'s lurching, beatless swamp of synths, on Walkman even the briefest snapshots leave an impression that lasts beyond the quick-scan cycle of the modern music experience. With his return to the album format, Paap's message is clear -put your headphones on, get outside and lose yourself in the sound of an artist constantly committed to moving forwards. Will heralded a disarming, groove-based return to deep house. A wild melange of bumping beats, freestyle samples and esoteric goodness. Recorded over the same period as Grinning Cat this anomaly within the Skintone catalogue was seen as a way to circumvent the swirling politics of his club-oriented releases elsewhere. In itself Will was a reminder of Yokota's ability to deliver a complex array of sounds within a more recognisable format.

Even at first blush, Splayed Werks, Tyondai Braxton's fifth album, his first full-length release since the recording of his 2018 symphonic work, Telekinesis, reveals itself as unlike what came before and marks the beginning of a new chapter with UK label Erased Tapes. The sprawling album takes in ambient, electronica, glitch and experimental influences. Braxton was a founding member of NYC-founded math rock outfit Battles, and has since collaborated with Philip Glass, Bang on a Can All-Stars, Kronos Quartet to name a few. His recorded solo albums Central Market and HIVE1 have been released by Warp and Nonesuch Records respectively. He has toured extensively throughout the world, and has performed with Four Tet, Tim Hecker and Steven O'Malley.

During their touring years, High Tone's concerts were unmissable: basslines that hit hard and deep, a buzzing drum sound, a quirky and edgy guitar, trippy psychedelic keyboards, along with a subtle use of turntables and samplers-not to mention politically charged music videos and lyrics... All the ingredients were there to ride a wave of electro jungle-a rare experience live! These five guys from Lyon, apostles of the Massive Dub Style, created a deeply organic and warm sound, vibrating with emotion. Rhythms borrowed from Indian and Jamaican music took us on a journey around the world. And on this album, the atmosphere of this journey around the world is beautifully captured, so that you can feel the symbiosis between the band and it's audience. Hence this long-awaited reissue of an album that brings together several tracks recorded live during the 2002 tour.

"Neverland", the fourteenth studio album by ULVER is the sound of an escape. A journey into undiscovered lands. Following three albums - "The Assassination of Julius Caesar" (2017), "Flowers of Evil" (2020), and "Liminal Animals" (2024) - rooted in more traditional song and production structures, "Neverland" marks a new chapter in the revered Oslo band's history. "With 'Neverland' we embraced a more 'punk' spirit - more dreaming, less discipline - freer, quite simply", the band comments on the creative process behind the album. Bursts of daybreak synths and whooshes of sound set the atmosphere, before the wolves start digging into the dynamics of ambient calm and anarchic mysticism. Dreamy and transportive textures develop into trippy percussive energies, and as the album unfolds, a lush and vibrant, and at times exotic space opens. Apart from a few recurring distant voices and vocal chops, "Neverland" is a largely instrumental record, reminiscent of the mood and structure of that place where late '90s IDM sounds met the meandering structures of post-rock. The ghost of premillennial sample culture surely haunts "Neverland", and some might even hear echoes from earlier acclaimed works like "Perdition City" (2000), or the "Silence" EPs (2001), or more recently "ATGCLVLSSCAP" (2016). Still, "Neverland" sounds and feels like something else, something fresh in ULVER's continuous journey of perennial reinvention. Pop music from in-between worlds? A sonic hallucination? Or better: a collage of dreams. It's up to you.

Twisted Records is thrilled to announce the release of the long-awaited fourth album by Younger Brother: Mutually Assured Distraction. The first full-length release by the fabled electronica project in a decade features nine sumptuous tracks that each embody the project's intoxicating fusion of profoundly human sonorities and etheric electronic soundscapes. The title is a subversive reframing of the Cold War doctrine "Mutually Assured Destruction," pointing to a world currently frozen not by the geopolitical threat of a Nuclear Winter but by a Digital Summer of mindless overstimulation. Mutually Assured Distraction is a sonic salve for the pervasive numbness induced by an emotionally disconnective artificiality that seeks to pacify with counterfeit happiness; the album offers an antidote to mundane superficiality with nine musical masterpieces that convey the depth of human experience and authentic creative expression. The progression of track titles symbolically represents the arc of this soulful journey through an evocative auditory landscape of moods, harmonies, and textures, progressing from the haunting opening "I Belong to Nowhere" to the penultimate "Home In This World" before arriving at the concluding "Endless Drift."The synthesised musical mastery of renegade musicians Simon Posford and Benji Vaughan is complemented by the contributions of some supremely skilful musicians, with beguiling vocals by MiraBelle Rose and Jay Marsh and the rich cello of Rena Jones. With poignant lyrics that speak to the universal human condition in a world where voices are amplified yet so many feel unheard, Mutually Assured Distraction provides, through it's fusion of electronic and real-world music-making, an example of how technology can pair harmoniously with our humanity - an energetic homecoming as the music draws us away from the unconscious scroll into an open field where we can embody our essential nature. The album stands as both a reflection of our times and a timeless reminder that beneath the noise, a deeper presence continually exists, waiting to be felt, heard, and expressed.Tour dates for July/ August in Denver, San Fran and New York and London in May. Press campaign for US and UK.

Ghostly Green Vinyl. I Didn't Mean to Haunt You is the second full-fledged concept album from Quadeca, and his first completely self-produced album, released in November 2022. It is a watershed moment from an internet-age rise to prominence, towards eclectic, toiled production and panoramic storytelling. While his earlier works hinted at this direction, Haunt You feels like a bold realization of potential. It is a near hour-long commitment to uncompromising songwriting that still manages to feel out of left-field. Ben Lasky seems like an unlikely candidate for music like this, as his near-decade long journey creating pop and rap music and commentary on YouTube garnered nearly two million subscribers, and ensued virality in a space where experimentation is often rejected or dismissed. Despite this, a more pensive and tasteful audience has made Quadeca's musical evolution the forefront of the conversation.
