Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Byron Westbrook - Landform Embodies A Mythical Creature (LP) (New (N))
Since his landmark 2015 album 'Precipice', Byron Westbrook has explored sound in broadly visual terms, using his subtle compositions to activate or address viewable phenomena or themes. Andrei Tarkovsky famously described his filmmaking process as sculpting in time and Westbrook takes a similarly philosophical approach to his detailed soundscapes, creating perceptible color, texture and physical space by carefully analyzing his various elements and their psychological effect on the listener, using techniques that are often only employed by film technicians. His last album, 2024's acclaimed 'Translucents', was an opportunity for Westbrook to directly address the concept of audio afterimage, bending the history of electroacoustic music in on itself and dazzling the senses almost cinematically. And on it's 2026 follow-up, 'A Landform Embodies A Mythical Creature', he continues the train of thought by making an even more concerted effort to harmonize with the language of visual art, working in parallel with acclaimed Los Angeles-based artist Brice Bischoff, whose enigmatic environmental photographs share much of the same creative DNA.Westbrook first met Bischoff in 2013 and was immediately struck by their commonalities; not only did they share a fascination with duration and perception, but they both grew up in southern Louisiana, where the extreme humidity provokes a very tangible human response. Both artists are concerned with the metaphysical, using their art to suggest a world beyond our own - operating on a different timescale or illuminated by different frequencies of light. The title of the album is taken from the text of Bischoff's book 'How Close' and it's photographs, captured in a remote location that has often been used as the backdrop for science fiction films, directly inform Westbrook's approach to the sound.Responding to 16 of the book's photographs, Westbrook created 16 discrete audio scenes, using cassette recordings of his real-world interactions with resonant spaces, using various objects to create echoes and drones in canyons, caves and ravines. Back in the studio, he augmented the recordings with spatial effects more commonly used in film, fabricating artificial zones within his concrete environments. For some time, I've been using sound to represent a sense of presence that can be visualized, he explains. I've also been experimenting with the activation of environments as a way to illustrate space, so Bischoff's photographs - with their ghostly blurs of human intervention and sculptural objects - provided a unique prompt to explore that idea further. And that's expressed quickly as blustering winds metamorphose into seismic, rumbling drones on the album's opening side. Uncanny footsteps echo somewhere overhead before becoming rainfall and intricately tuned tones suggest the humming desert atmosphere.Westbrook continues to work at his own pace, painting in subtle shades yet always recognizing the power of the edit. His scenes sometimes arrive with a force that's as powerful as the finale of slow cinema maestro Apichatpong Weerasethakul's 'Memoria', when an imagined object suddenly becomes real. Before the end of the first side, earthly sounds are augmented by chattering alien vocalizations and whirring mechanical whining that might suggest a vast extraterrestrial object looming in the mountains. On the flip meanwhile, Westbrook descends into eldritch territory, letting harsh weather uncover sounds that might have been buried for millennia. Often terrifyingly beautiful, it's sound that fluidly shifts between the physical world and a space that's much more intangible, suggesting history, myth and mystery with it's levitational textures and colorful blurs. Like Bischoff's photographs, Westbrook's scenes consider the limitless possibility of the unseen: what might lurk in the parts of the spectrum we can't see, or hear? Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Twisted Teens - Holy Cross Tigers (Cassette) (New (N))
Twisted Teens - aka Caspian Halliwell and RJ Santos - didn't really exist before it's 2024 debut LP, now known as The Orange Album. The pair had been making music from Cajun/country to anarcho-folk under the radar and off the grid, living and working itinerantly. Twisted Teens came from a pandemic-induced burst of inspiration that drew them together to record, in suitably lo-fi fashion, at Caspian's New Orleans home. Their first album quickly became a modern classic of sticky, warm rock, bunching blues, folk, and punk into a raw and irresistible concoction. The duo came back strong in 2026 with Blame the Clown - instantly, enthusiastically cosigned Pitchfork and Paste - and then the equally acclaimed Florida Water Blues, an absurdist take on their wanderings around the world.Their third magnetic and perfectly ragged album of 2026 is a saga of heartbreak and hidden triumph called The Holy Cross Tigers. The songs are anthems of longing, and myriad disappointments, fueled by everything from a brutal breakup to snitching ex-friends. Despite these woes, The Holy Cross Tigers has a sense of radiance, a feeling of reflected light pushing against the sadness. Instantly relatable, it feels like a few friends sharing the burdens of life with one another, the results strange and ecstatic because they are operating by their own rules. It is a blown-out transmission from the lip of heartbreak, a place where even the lucky have been and from which they have hopefully returned. Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: CEO - After The Fall (CD) (New (N))
After the Fall is the band's most confident record yet. It keeps their trademark heavy riffs, big grooves and melodic hooks while widening their emotional and musical range. Across 13 tracks, it confronts a world of distraction, division and loss, but it focuses on what survives: resilience, connection, faith and the will to rise again. The Path Remains was about discovering what The ceo could become, says frontman Mack Mullins. With After the Fall, we stopped searching for that identity and just became it. There's a darker thread running through this album, but it's not a hopeless record. The title is After the Fall because the story isn't the fall, it's what happens next. You get back up. Bassist Vince Hornsby adds: Nobody is boxed into a role anymore. There are some really heavy moments, huge grooves and some of the most melodic stuff we've done. It still sounds like The ceo, but it's a band following the song instead of a formula. Lead single Reality pairs an infectious riff with a massive chorus. It takes aim at the blurred line between real life and the version of it served up by screens and algorithms. It's not an anti-technology song, Mullins explains. It's a wake-up call. Don't let the feed tell you what life is. The album plays as a journey. It moves from the tension of Static, Beyond Oblivion, Spotlight Saints and The Ghost Between, through the title track, toward renewal on Rise Again, Under the Same Moon and closer Still Enough. Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Felipe Gordon - Constant Output (12" Vinyl) (New (N))
Daybreakers welcomes Felipe Gordon to the label with the Constant Output EP, a four-track 12 from one of the most exciting house producers to come out of Colombia. Based in Bogota, Felipe has built a reputation as a producer, DJ, label head, and proper multi-instrumentalist, with records across labels including Toy Tonics, Heist, Razor-N-Tape, Local Talk, Shall Not Fade, Clone Royal Oak, and his own Wide Awake / Nomada projects. His sound has always carried more than just club function - jazz keys, loose basslines, acid touches, live-feeling percussion, and that raw, human edge that makes his records stand out. There's a natural connection here too. Felipe's Let's Get, Get Together appears on Rainer Truby's Root Down compilation, released on Daybreakers, making the Constant Output EP a perfect choice to end 2026 with. From Bogota to Freiburg to London, it's exactly the kind of musical thread Daybreakers was built to follow. Across the EP, Felipe does what Felipe does best: warm, jazzy, deep house with swing, musicianship and enough grit for the club. Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Wyatt Waylon - Dustpiles (CD) (New (N))
At just 19, Waylon Wyatt may be short on years, but the country singer-songwriter from small-town Arkansas has the instincts of an old soul. On this full-length debut album, he spins yarns of broken hearts and faded dreams, foregoing youthful idealism in favor of the kind of bleary-eyed, down-and-out storytelling that characterizes so much of classic country music.Like peers Cameron Whitcomb and Sam Barber, Wyatt also takes cues from the go-for-broke mentality of recent genre trailblazer Zach Bryan, imbuing many of these songs with a palpable melancholy, like on opening track and early single But There Was a Time. That tune finds Wyatt in a nostalgic place, looking back on a relationship that couldn't seem to stick, a theme that recurs on Dustpiles.Where Wyatt strays from the pack, though, is in his willingness to have a little fun. Dead Man Walkin' could be a long-lost Alan Jackson song, while Otherside ditches he-said/she-said breakup narratives to pose a bigger question: Would it hurt to spread a little love? Alliance Entertainment Pre-Order: Aura Safari - Spaced Out Disco (LP) (New (N))
Aura Safari are taking it back to the source with new album Spaced Out Disco on Hell Yeah. The eight-track record is inspired by the iconic sound, feel, and studio techniques of the original 1970s disco and was played entirely live with real instruments. Aura Safari are Andrea Moretti, Lorenzo Lavoratori, Daniele Melloni, and Nicholas Iammatteo, and they have been releasing EPs, LPs, and remixes on Hell Yeah Records since 2020. They have long been entrenched in the local scene of Perugia and are live specialists with a unique chemistry that allows them to translate funk, jazz, soul, disco, and house into their own timeless and universal musical language. Integral to the album is the live performance aspect. All the band members hooked up in the studio and played together, often laying down tunes in one take, and then adding some post-production for a modern edge. Disco, dub, jazz-funk, and instrumental grooves define the sounds while the creative use of classic delay, echo, spacey FX, and dubbed out arrangements lent the record the same Jamaican character that inspired original dub-disco pioneers like Arthur Russell, the Compass Point Studio, and labels like Prelude and West End.'Starlove' opens with low-slung grooves and squelchy bass that twists you inside out before 'Spaced Out' shimmers with astral melodies and synths that rise like a rocket disappearing into the night sky. Funky claps and flashes of Dexter Wansel-inspired soul complete the picture, while 'Santa Barbara' eases the pace with a brain-bending dub workout full of weighty low-end and warm, sun-kissed chords. 'Cosmic Affair' lives up to it's name, gliding through the galaxy on uplifting guitars and slinky drums, all wrapped in irresistible retro-futurist magic and lit by the moon. 'Disco Mirage' turns inward with simmering bass, dusty open hi-hats, and hazy synth trails drifting through effervescent jazz keys that rise like champagne bubbles. 'Magik Space Dust' stretches towards the stars with soaring leads and knotted bass locked into an effortless groove.Spaced Out Disco does exactly what it promises and plots a richly imagined journey that never stops looking towards the stars while keeping it's feet firmly on the dancefloor.
