MAD HONEY - BRIDGE OVER CUMBERLAND (Half Black / Half Clear) Bridge Over Cumberland by OKC rock band Mad Honey is a textured, contemplative album, marked by story-driven lyrics, eerie atmospheric dronings, and swirling guitar tones. Their sophomore effort marks a bold tonal shift, as the band ventures beyond their Shoegaze and dream-pop origins, weaving in indie-folk influences. The 11 tracks play like a road trip through the south, staring out the window, contemplating the past, and speeding forward towards an uncertain future.

It’s no disrespect to the man to not believe, in part or in whole, every word that Ray Wylie Hubbard writes, sings, or speaks — and frankly, he’d probably respect you a little less if you did. As celebrated songwriters of the outlaw poet/down-home-country-blues persuasion go, Hubbard’s credibility is unimpeachable. And to be fair, even as a somewhat notorious raconteur, his overall truthiness is a lot more bankable than your average politician or fundamentalist grifter. But fold your cards every time he goes all in across a table from you, or swallow as fact every nugget of wisdom he sharpens into verse or stretches into a yarn without catching the gleam in his eye or wry tell between the lines, and odds are you’ve been played.
But honestly, that’s all just part of what makes Hubbard so damn fun.
“You know, a lot of artists when they put out a record, they go, ‘This is the best record I’ve done up to this point,’” the Americana legend considers sagely after a pause when asked how to best sum up Reel 2 Reel 4 Real, his 20th album in a recording career stretching back to the mid-70s. “But I’m not going to say this is the best record I’ve done. I’ll say it’s the best record I’ve ever heard.”
No matter how many awards and Hall of Fame inductions others might honor him with (he’s a member of both the Austin Music HOF and the Texas Heritage Songwriters HOF), Hubbard never swaggers or sings his own praises without keeping his tongue planted firmly in cheek. But after brushing aside his bluff with a chuckle, Hubbard gets real. “I am very proud of it,” he answers sincerely. “Everybody that played on it put a lot of work into it, and it just felt right doing it. I’m very grateful.”

Recorded on August 22, 2001, Live From Austin, TX captures Robert Earl Keen during the most recent of his five appearances on Austin City Limits - a truly remarkable performance showcasing his artistry and songwriting at full strength.Keen has long been considered one of the leaders of a new generation of Texas singer-songwriters, an artist whose edgy rebelliousness - much like Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and Willie Nelson before him - has never quite fit country music's mainstream, which is exactly why he stands out. The 17-track set moves through catalog highlights including "Shades of Gray, " "I'm Goin' to Town, " "The Road Goes On Forever, " "Merry Christmas From the Family, " "Snowin' on Raton, " and "Feelin' Good Again, " covering the full range of what makes Keen essential - road-worn humor, plainspoken heartbreak, and characters drawn with uncommon specificity.Keen has described his writing process as thinking in pictures - snapshots from memory or observation - and sitting down with a guitar to describe what he sees until a story takes shape. That intimacy translates powerfully in a live setting. This 2-disc set is now available on vinyl for the first time ever.

Big World lives up to its name. Slated for release on August 14, it arrives on the heels of Hovvdy’s 2024 self-titled album with a palpable sense of expansion – songs that stretch outwards and fill every room that they’re played in – while still being rooted in the close, unguarded intimacy characteristic of the Texas duo. It’s a progression that underscores how Charlie Martin and Will Taylor, now over a decade into their collaboration, continue to refine a shared language without losing the sincerity that has come to define it.

Judah & the Lion return with I Am A Prism (August 14), their most expansive and emotionally resonant album to date. Rising from Belmont University dorm rooms to #1 Alternative hits and arena stages, the band continues to push their genre-blurring ethos forward-this time with a bold, kaleidoscopic sound that spans 80s-inflected rock ("Miracle," "Win or Go Home"), arena-ready alt-pop ("Maybe the Best Is Now"), soulful introspection ("As The Crow"), and even a tongue-in-cheek pop-country turn ("Gravel Roads").Produced by Jeremy Lutito and mixed by Ryan Hewitt, the album captures both scale and intimacy-incorporating live audience recordings that blur the line between performance and community. At it's core, I Am A Prism reflects the band's deeply human journey: navigating faith, identity, relationships, and reinvention with a rare mix of vulnerability and competitive fire. It's that tension-Beastie Boys energy meeting folk roots-that has defined their rise and continues to set them apart.

Beer Colored Indie Retail Exclusive Vinyl. As they sell out tours and command audiences worldwide, it's a strange ask to imagine Getdown Services as underdogs. Yet, for several years, they were there for the hell of the grind, committed to playing any and every show they could get, from sparse opening slots in Bristol to out of town dives. Chat to them long enough and they'll often reminisce about their very first gig overseas, performing in a leaky barn to a French crowd of two in the commune of La Zad. 'One was a man sitting facing away from the stage smoking a bong, and the other was literally a dog'. For most bands, this might be a lowpoint. However, as the duo recall, it was anything but: 'We knew if we could enjoy playing that gig, then we'd enjoy any gig'. It's this irrepressible, anarchic joy that has endeared them to audiences everywhere they've travelled, and has once again been effortlessly captured on their new record 'Massive Champion'. At heart, it's an ode to their childhood, and the British cultural artefacts that defined it, from the Beano to retro video games and sosmix. But it's also a distillation of their live wire performances, it's thirteen tracks overflowing with the same boundless energy and seditious wit that sees them command each stage they set foot on.

A shimmering vision of light and sound, seductive, ephemeral, impossible to contain, fata morgana is a genre-defiant synthesis of dancehall, tape meditations, slow jams, gospel, and crunched metal influences in answer to the question: How do you grow in a world not meant for you to thrive in?

Five years after their last album, Les Agamemnonz return with ""Die Sommerreise"" (""The Summer Journey"" in German), an adventurous fourth album glowing with [here we had issue translating the word ""solaire"" which means solar and also bright glowing like an ""aura""]. During a German tour, the band stopped in Berlin. For five days, the musicians took over a vast red-brick building, typical of the city's eastern part, to record about ten tracks under the direction of Axel Praefcke. The Berlin-based sound engineer, who has created a kind of Sun Studio Funkhaus-style here, is known for his organic and direct approach. Everything is recorded and mixed live, in the urgency and energy of the moment: the amps are cranked up, the days stretch on, and the band's chitons dry in the sun on the truck parked in front of the studio. Further exploring the rhythmic and structural aspects of their songs, ""Die Sommerreise"" revisits and reinterprets various styles often associated with the 1960s, such as the polka, the jerk, the waltz (Sfumato), the bolero, and so on. Here we find what has always been the hallmark of Les Agamemnonz: effective rhythms and audacious arrangements. It's worth noting that, while the group had extensively explored orchestral arrangements on their previous ""Amateurs"" LP by adding brass and string sections during overdub sessions, this time they experimented with a live recording of the group/orchestra encounter, everyone in the same room, the old-fashioned way. A small section was brought together, resulting, in the midst of this short, focused, and laborious week, in a kind of joyful brass band happening (Der Mondmann) but also the most ""dramatic"" facet of the album (Le Vieux Manteau). The album also features several distinguished guests. Graham Mushnik (Derya Yildirim & Grup Simsek) joined the band in the studio, playing a rare ondioline (an early form of synthesizer popularized by Jean-Jacques Perrey) to several tracks (Davet, Gel gel gel), and Antoine Berland, an iconoclastic pianist, provides the album's introduction using a clavicorde, an equally unique instrument. A leading figure on the international surf scene, the band distinguishes itself as much by it's ability to evoke the genre's classics - The Ventures, The Astronauts, and The Challengers - as by the originality of it's songwriting. For about seventeen years, Les Agamemnonz have performed hundreds of concerts throughout Europe and the United States. Always dressed in their Greek chitons and barefoot like the lyre player, come rain or shine, they captivate audiences of all ages and - instrumental music being what it is - without any language barrier. They sweep audiences of all ages away in sun-drenched instrumental celebrations. ""Die Sommerreise"" also marks the group's second collaboration with the American label Hi-Tide Recordings, as well as with the artist Elia David, who once again created an entirely hand-painted cover, brick by brick, immortalizing this intense and fruitful stage in their grand summer voyage. *** Indie Exclusive ***UPC: 709388075913Label: Hi-tide RecordingsRelease Date: 8.14.26Format: Vinyl

""Midnight melodies from the edge of paradise."" On LP5, acclaimed Philadelphia quintet blends Hawaiian steel guitar with the elegance and allure of after-hours jazz. After the sun sets on the City of Brotherly love, an incongruous but alluring sound can be heard through the front door of an old pub on the corner of Cresson and Dawson Streets. A regular crowd has come here in the gloaming to sail the musical seas with a band known as Slowey and the Boats. This corner bar is a small eddy along the river of time. The din of the crowd mixes with the sound of the band, conjuring a different time, island breezes, and tropical nights filled with promise. These melodies and the musical language employed here have traveled long distances. Like the light from a distant star in the night sky, they radiate out into the darkness like a beacon existing entirely outside of time. For the regulars at Dawson Street Pub and music lovers everywhere Hi-Tide Recordings proudly presents this tribute to the night - ""Slowey... After Dark"". *** Indie Exclusive ***UPC: 709388075937Label: Hi-tide RecordingsRelease Date: 8.14.26Format: Vinyl
The Womack Sisters, Kucha, Zeimani, and BG Womack, were singing before they could walk. They grew up on the road. Their schools were stages and studios all over the world, where they sang behind their parents, Zekkariyas & Zeriiya (fka Womack & Womack), alongside their four siblings. Nowhere was home for long. No matter where they lived they were always surrounded by music and family. Their 2026 self-titled debut album, The Womack Sisters, is the musical culmination of the Sisters' long and winding journey to find themselves. Releasing Aug 14 on Daptone Records, the intensely soulful collection of tunes produced by Gabriel Roth looks forward by looking back, paying homage to their family's lineage while creating a sound that is uniquely their own. On an album that is deeply autobiographical, perhaps no lyric is as fitting as the final refrain: People come and go, But, darling this I know,It will always be my sisters and me.

Blood Incantation’s Absolute Elsewhere is unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. Few can claim a sonic watershed as readily as the Denver, Colorado quartet. At roughly 45 minutes, the two compositions that make up this album are as confounding as they are engaging in their scope, melding the 70's prog leanings of Tangerine Dream (whose Thorsten Quaesching appears on „The Stargate [Tablet II]”) with the deathly intent of Morbid Angel. Blood Incantation has already proven themselves, perfecting progressive death metal with 2019's Hidden History of the Human Race while branching out into exclusively synth-driven soundtrack territory with 2022's Timewave Zero. Now, with Absolute Elsewhere, which takes its title from the mid-70's prog collective (best known as a celestial stopover for King Crimson drummer, Bill Bruford), Blood Incantation are leaving the notion of genre behind and writing a new language for extreme music itself

Across two decades, the California-born hardcore outfit CEREMONY has earned its standing as one of punk’s most adaptable and unflinching bands, always ready to meet the moment without surrendering its principles. True to form, CEREMONY's seventh album, Tell Me Your Dream pushes the group’s punk-forged intensity all the way to the fore, capturing the quintet at its most expressive, expansive, and timely.
“We’re living in an era of mass uncertainty,” says CEREMONY vocalist Ross Farrar. “In punk, I don’t see how you can’t respond. It’s taken over our lives in so many different ways — economically, politically, spiritually. We want people to wake up and get into what’s happening.”
Ferociously alert, Tell Me Your Dream reunites CEREMONY — Farrar, guitarist-keyboardist Anthony Anzaldo, guitarist Andy Nelson, bassist Justin Davis and drummer Jake Casarotti — with producer John Reis for ten songs of searing breadth. That means everything from bristling hardcore to moody post-punk — all while taking fundamental inspiration from Discharge, Crass, and other anarcho-punk troupes that first helped certain members of CEREMONY find their own political voices back when they were teenagers. The result is a culmination of the band’s 21 years together, if not some kind of riddle: CEREMONY knows how to make a return-to-form sound like evolution — and vice versa.
Equally loud and clear is the fact that CEREMONY isn’t hesitating to raise its voice at a moment when the underground has grown strangely quiet. “Why aren’t punk bands actually saying the word ‘Palestine’ on their records?” asks CEREMONY guitarist Andy Nelson. “We didn’t want to make anything that felt light, or empty, or apolitical. Our intent is to not waste anyone’s time, and to encourage people to think about what they settle for.” On Tell Me Your Dream, you’ll hear Palestine cited over the ferocious bounce of “Madness,” a post-punky indictment of war’s obscenity — and the obscene amounts of cash required to wage it. But if you listen closely, you may also hear Farrar working to reconcile issues of broadscale sociopolitical violence with his most intimate personal struggles.
Within 30 minutes, Tell Me Your Dream revisits all previous eras of the greater CEREMONY arc, with each track gaining intensity as it plays off the prior. The anarcho scorch marks of “Other Hells” give way to the deep-pocketed groove of the aforementioned “Madness,” followed by the jet-black jangle of “Dark Summer,” a post-punk rumination during which Farrar reminds us, “You only hit bottom when you stop digging.”
Deep connections in a shallow world. A clear sense of purpose in uncertain times. These are the reasons CEREMONY continues to grow, to expand, to adapt, to endure. This band can’t stop. And it won’t. To meet the moment, you have to be there for it.

Citizen's persistent sonic evolution and refusal to make the same record twice has earned them a reputation as one of the most consistently captivating bands in modern rock music. It's precisely this commitment to their craft that has led to their new album, Halcyon Blues. It's a dynamic and confident culmination of all that's come before, making it crystal clear that for all their sonic restlessness, Citizen have always known exactly who they are. From the start, the band-vocalist Mat Kerekes, guitarist Nick Hamm, bassist Eric Hamm, along with newer members guitarist Mason Mercer and drummer Ben Russin-were steadfastly determined to follow their creativity wherever it led. Over the years they deftly moved through raw emo, menacing post-hardcore, anthemic alternative, garage-y indie pop, and so much more. Now Halcyon Blues brings elements from throughout their entire catalog together into a singular and instantly satisfying record that just sounds like Citizen. Where past Citizen albums have felt like direct responses to the preceding release, Halcyon Blues sounds like the group wrapping their arms around their entire catalog and carrying it forward. Recorded by Kerekes in his home studio in Tole- do, then mixed by Tom Lorde-Alge (U2, Weezer, Blink182), the record taps into the urgency and ferocity of Citizen's early albums while embracing the epic scope and undeniable hooks of their more recent work. These are huge rock songs with fittingly huge emotions, but the youthful frustration of Citizen's early work has grown up too, replaced by a more nuanced, though no less cutting, adult perspective.
