2025 was a year of milestones for me: I had a big birthday and I was about to record my 20th album as a leader. The 20th album felt really important; I wanted to celebrate my time in New York City and musical achievements. I imagined a party and jam session where all of my loved ones were present, a time where we would play music and laugh and eat good food and have a real party. "House Party" is that dream come true. On this record you will hear my long-time rhythm section (more than 20 years of music!!) Hide Tanaka on bass and Fukushi Tainaka on drums. Sitting in with us is Cory Weeds, my long time touring partner, musical collaborator, and founder of Cellar Live Records on tenor sax. Also sitting in with us is Klas Lindquist, my newest collaborator, on alto sax. In the audience we have my friends and business associates spanning many years. We played, we talked, we laughed, we partied. This album represents all that is good and beloved in my life, I hope you feel the same spirit when you listen!

If his initial impulse was to poke fun at the apparatus that divides music into chapters, as the songs developed, Shane Lavers found the phrase carried deeper nuance, evoking the duel between certainty and doubt that preoccupied his psyche. Though the phrase unfurls with conviction, a slight shift in emphasis can inspire unsettling ambiguities: Will your day come? What will it be like? How can you be sure? These dualities were top of mind when Lavers wrote “Song for the Messenger,” the track that properly introduces Your Day Will Come’s expanded vision. Thoughts had more room to bounce around and curdle inside his head, and he often felt dulled down by a world that can feel absurdly cruel. On “Song for the Messenger,” the future collapses into itself as “the days still move and the window closes slowly.” “While writing the songs I kept asking myself, ‘If you are really so hopeless, what does your life look like with that clarity,’” Lavers says. Raised in the suburbs of Minnesota, Lavers began making music under the name Chanel Beads while living in Seattle back in 2016. When he wasn’t working at a library for the blind, he was collaging synthetic sounds and real instruments into beguiling songs fundamentally averse to genre. He was living in New York by 2022, as tracks like “Ef” and “True Altruism” captivated certain online circles with their androgynous vocals, uncanny artifice, and stirring intimacy. The gossamer voice of Maya McGrory can once again be heard across the album, and she co-wrote the majestic “Silver Cup.” These 14 songs are increasingly fleshed out and structured, a result of a more collaborative approach that embraced spontaneity and imperfections. Casual hangs led to contributions from friends like Tchad Cousins (Urika’s Bedroom), Mari Maurice (More Eaze), Anastasia Coope, and Bella Litsa. “Dust in the Wind” is a joint effort with Isaac Eiger of Strange Ranger and Threshold, marking the first co-write from someone outside the core trio of Lavers, McGory, and Paul. Neither a solo project nor a band, Chanel Beads is “defined by the negatives,” says Lavers. Though the stages have grown larger, the spirit of Chanel Beads remains steadfastly underground. Lavers made Your Day Will Come at his small and sparsely furnished Brooklyn studio, with the speakers positioned so close to his face that he could feel air emit from every thump of the kick drum. He embraces the attitude of “if it works, leave it be,” recording into whatever microphone is around and going off that version. “We start the recording before the song is written, and then you work the song into the recording,” Lavers says. “We don’t make demos, that's a hard and fast rule. Which we’ll break eventually.” Lavers’ fragmented lyrics are full of open-ended questions, exploring the dichotomies that inform our reality. Snarling beasts and shame accompany proclamations of devotion on “JBL in the Fireplace”: “That’s when they set the dogs on you/Fuck this world I still have love for you.” Drawing from Lavers’ own experiences, Your Day Will Come uses dream logic to delve into liminality and precarious remembrance. It’s colored by the spectres of specific losses, but also how you can haunt yourself by falling back into old habits. The elegiac centerpiece, “Tyler Richard,” is haunted by the ‘have we met before?’ sensation. Initially gentle and twinkling, each verse draws into a tighter fist until it bursts open in ecstatic despair. “It’s about the feeling when someone who has passed appears in a dream, and you wake up and have to remember that they are gone,” Lavers says. “As your life moves forward, grief can recur in these ways that feel like time flattens and circles back in on itself.” “I thought I saw you smiling in all my memories,” Lavers spits on the gleefully caustic “The Coward Forgets His Nightmare.” “It’s hard to dedicate yourself to art and not also indulgently dedicate yourself to yourself,” he says. “To me, that one is explicitly about reaching the end of your life, having lived in music, and wondering if you did the wrong thing.” As the veil falls on the present, you look back on a past littered with lost futures.

When he wasn’t working at a library for the blind, he was collaging synthetic sounds and real instruments into beguiling songs fundamentally averse to genre. He was living in New York by 2022, as tracks like “Ef” and “True Altruism” captivated certain online circles with their androgynous vocals, uncanny artifice, and stirring intimacy. In the years since Chanel Beads’ entrancing introduction, the project has gone from playing house shows and illegal abandoned train tunnel shows, all the way up to supporting Lorde on her recent North American arena tour. The second iteration of Your Day Will Come catalogues a sonic shift and evolution in Chanel Beads’ sound. This time around, it’s layered with more original parts and players. Violinist Zachary Paul has a greater presence, though Lavers continues to toy with the semiotic baggage of plug-ins. The gossamer voice of Maya McGrory can once again be heard across the album, and she co-wrote the majestic “Silver Cup.” These 14 songs are increasingly fleshed out and structured, a result of a more collaborative approach that embraced spontaneity and imperfections. Casual hangs led to contributions from friends like Tchad Cousins (Urika’s Bedroom), Mari Maurice (More Eaze), Anastasia Coope, and Bella Litsa. “Dust in the Wind” is a joint effort with Isaac Eiger of Strange Ranger and Threshold, marking the first co-write from someone outside the core trio of Lavers, McGory, and Paul. Neither a solo project nor a band, Chanel Beads is “defined by the negatives,” says Lavers. Though the stages have grown larger, the spirit of Chanel Beads remains steadfastly underground. Lavers made Your Day Will Come at his small and sparsely furnished Brooklyn studio, with the speakers positioned so close to his face that he could feel air emit from every thump of the kick drum. He embraces the attitude of “if it works, leave it be,” recording into whatever microphone is around and going off that version. “We start the recording before the song is written, and then you work the song into the recording,” Lavers says. “We don’t make demos, that's a hard and fast rule. Which we’ll break eventually.” Lavers’ fragmented lyrics are full of open-ended questions, exploring the dichotomies that inform our reality. He was particularly consumed by the coexistence of nihilism and love, saying, “It feels as if one should obliterate the other, but they don't.” Emotional sublimation is central to Chanel Beads, as if you can white-knuckle something so hard that it becomes transcendent. Snarling beasts and shame accompany proclamations of devotion on “JBL in the Fireplace”: “That’s when they set the dogs on you/Fuck this world I still have love for you.” Drawing from Lavers’ own experiences, Your Day Will Come uses dream logic to delve into liminality and precarious remembrance. It’s colored by the spectres of specific losses, but also how you can haunt yourself by falling back into old habits. The elegiac centerpiece, “Tyler Richard,” is haunted by the ‘have we met before?’ sensation. Initially gentle and twinkling, each verse draws into a tighter fist until it bursts open in ecstatic despair. “It’s about the feeling when someone who has passed appears in a dream, and you wake up and have to remember that they are gone,” Lavers says. “As your life moves forward, grief can recur in these ways that feel like time flattens and circles back in on itself.” “I thought I saw you smiling in all my memories,” Lavers spits on the gleefully caustic “The Coward Forgets His Nightmare.” “It’s hard to dedicate yourself to art and not also indulgently dedicate yourself to yourself,” he says. “To me, that one is explicitly about reaching the end of your life, having lived in music, and wondering if you did the wrong thing.” As the veil falls on the present, you look back on a past littered with lost futures.

L'infinito is Giacomo Leopardi's famous and emblematic poem. The choice of this poem as the sole textualmaterial for the composition of this set of vocal pieces was dictated as much by the evident musicality ofLeopardi's verses as by the immense dreamlike openness of his imagination.The musicality of this language, the tonic accents specific to Italian, of course, but also the rhythm providedby the particular scansion of these fifteen verses.The multiplicity and diversity of the themes addressed by Leopardi, in only 15 verses, offer the composer arange of perspectives, paths to follow, and characters to explore, such that the challenge required diversity inthe vocal treatment as well (since this is only a question of song, without instrumental intervention). This alsojustified the formal division into several pieces, each treating an aspect of the poem, sometimes fragmented,in a particular mode of vocal expression. After exploring registers ranging from simple declamation to thegreatest vocal virtuosity, from the extremely low to the very high, from one single voice to several, the workconcludes with nothing but the singers' respiration (breathing) recordedin an anechoic chamber thebody'sown rustling, now voiceless, expressing itself solely through breath. We're worried by it, stressed out from it, frightened of it - and yet we're fascinated by it. Chaos has always been perceived as a threat, but also as the foundation of life. Various creation stories explain how the world arose out of disorder, out of "mayhem". In like manner, it is anarchic spirits in particular that are credited with the ability to create masterpieces of creative art. This conception was perhaps most neatly expressed by Friedrich Nietzsche: "You must have chaos within you, if you are to give birth to a dancing star." The present album is made up of works which, if you like, harbour the sound of chaos. Originally written for a wide variety of instruments, these pieces are arranged here for string quartet and are connected by improvised interludes - linking passages for which the Hungarian composer Samu Gryllus has provided the basis. The Chaos String Quartet emerged from the iconic violist joke: "Well-established, world-famous string quartet looking for a new first violin, second violin... and cellist." That's exactly how it happened. On Cornwall's rugged coast, during a Prussia Cove masterclass, after an illuminating lesson, a sight-reading session, and a candlelit dinner, Sara invited Susanne to form a quartet. After that first conversation, it took some time to find two other brave musicians, both beyond their mid-twenties, who were willing to embark on the exciting, sometimes complex, and risky adventure that is a string quartet. Fortunately, Eszter and Bas joined soon after, with great enthusiasm. As usual, naming proved a challenge. Some suggested using the first violinist's surname; others, a Greek god. A few warned, "Don't start with A - there are too many." Then came a provocative idea: why not call it Chaos? Furthermore, the quartet enjoys inspiring the next generation, sharing it's experience as Young Artists in Residence at Vienna's University of Music and Performing Arts, cheekily sparking a little chaos among the artists of tomorrow. Their recognition as BBC New Generation Artists (2023-2025) and regular appearances at venues like Wigmore Hall, Musikverein, and Concertgebouw illuminate a journey where unpredictability becomes inspiration-reminding us that from the origins of chaos can emerge music of unique order and profound beauty. Diego Conti's recent composition for string quartet/quintet can be placed in the aesthetic context which can be roughly defined, given any inevitable historical and conceptual adjustments, as post-modern. There is a multitude of approaches to sound, according to various different and diverging strategies (ranging from the prolongation of serial combinatorial rows on material and stylistic morphology in Ligeti to modulation/pluri- linguistic modelling in Berio, from the synthesis of minimal iteration and tonal orders in figures such as John Adams or Louis Andriessen to the clearance of practices and languages of other creative-musical areas, seventies' art music has gradually abandoned the teleological, progressive tendency of it's historical path. The language of composition has ceased to recognize the essential reference point in it's most advanced frontier and has become a complex macro-area at it's core, widely accessible, and able to be explored in all it's domains even as far as the confines of the avantgarde frontier thanks, above all, to an interplay involving many possible directions, crossings and even multiple settlements. Pairing Indian classical ragas with then-state-of-the-art Roland synthesizers and drum machines, Singh created an electronic masterpiece that was far ahead of it's time. Recording live at Mumbai's HMV studios, Singh married the past to the future-blending the ancient Indian tradition of ragas (a melodic framework, similar to a scale, from which musicians can improvise or compose) with pulsating, electronic dance beats. Released without fanfare, it faded into obscurity and Singh retired from recording to focus on private concerts, but that's where the story begins

Charge was a British heavy progressive rock trio formed in the early 1970s on the South Coast, emerging from the ashes of local bands Baby Bertha and Sweet Poison, blending Hendrix-inspired guitar, powerful bass and drums, and psychedelic/heavy progressive elements. The band's first sessions were born from an intense, 35-minute jam at the Dolphin in Botley, where the members instantly connected and developed the raw energy that would define their sound. In January of 1973, Charge recorded this extremely rare & classic Heavy Progressive Rock LP at SRT Studios, privately issuing 99 copies in a plain white cover of which only a few still exist. Part of the pressing was likely lost or destroyed. The lp has been illegally issued several times since, and every edition, including the Spanish legal pressing, inexplicably mistitled Side Two as a "Suite" in 3 parts. This was not the case, as evidenced by the original SRT labels. Only one item of graphics relating to Charge has survived, a yellow poster (recoloured orange on previous reissues). We have reproduced the poster as the album's cover in it's original colour. Recorded in January 1973 at SRT Studios, Luton, Bedfordshire, UK.
