Cedric 'i'm' Brooks' United Africa has achieved cult status amongst reggae fans since it's original release in 1978. Rightly so, the album is a sublime mixture of classic 70s reggae, afro beat and funk. This musically rich album is a varied set with some of Jamaica's top musicians including pioneering Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. This seven track set with extended mixes and has been re-mastered for Pressure Sounds. Brooks is a product of The Alpha Boys school in Kingston Jamaica. His first recordings were with The Vagabonds and The Granville Williams Band, and sis first solo records were for Studio One with trumpeter David Madden and released as 'I'm and David'. In 1970 he connected with Count Ossie and was part of the 'The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari' where Cedric played Saxophone, Flute and arranged the horn section. He developed a wide musical influence moving between the USA and Africa where he performed in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.

Absurdity and punk rock go together like celery and tonic water. That is to say, they are two acquired tastes that are even better together, because they push out the squares and cater to the real freaks. That spirit has driven Chicago's Cel Ray from the very beginning. Springing to life with their debut EP Cellular Raymond in 2023, the Chicago four-piece of vocalist Maddie Daviss, guitarist Josh Rodin, bassist Kevin Goggin, and drummer Alex Watson charted a path through twitchy, absurdist post-punk that fell somewhere between The Minneapolis Uranium Club and The B-52s. Celil Refik Kaya is a contemporary guitarist and composer in the great tradition of artists who have created their own unique contribution to the repertoire. Sonata No. 1 is characterised by various stylistic resemblances which include South and North American composers, jazz chord progressions, French impressionism and Spanish folk music, whereas the Sonatina expresses more personal emotions. Kaya's Turkish background can be heard in his variations on the folk song Yavuz Geliyor Yavuz, which, like the Sketches, has it's origins in art and music close to the composer's heart.
