Vinyl LP pressing. Expanded reissue. Bikini Kill is the infamously fierce, riot grrrl band featuring feminist punk pioneers Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail, Billy Karren and Kathi Wilcox. The Revolution Girl Style Now was their 1991 cassette-only debut. This reissue features three previously unreleased tracks: "Ocean Song," "Just Once," and "Playground." These songs feature a decidedly more grunge sound than the rest of the Bikini Kill catalog. Fun fact: the tape actually runs out as they're recording "Playground." Bikini Kill formed in Olympia, Washington in October 1990. They began working together on a fanzine called Bikini Kill and then formed a band of the same name. The band wrote songs together and encouraged a female-centric environment at their shows, urging women to come to the front of the stage and handing out lyric sheets to them.Track List

Portrait in Jazz was Bill Evans' third album as a leader, following New Jazz Conceptions (1956) and Everybody Digs Bill Evans (1958). It was also Evans' first album as a leader with the talented bassist Scott LaFaro. Their superb interaction is evident from the very first track, and Evans was certainly aware of this. The collaboration between Evans and LaFaro would reach it's peak with their recordings made in June 1961 at the Village Vanguard in New York City. LaFaro died shortly afterward in a car accident (July 6, 1961), at the age of 25.

Bill Evans is widely considered to be one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time. Evans' use of impressionist harmony, inventive interpretation of traditional jazz repertoire, block chords, and trademark rhythmically independent, "singing" melodic lines continue to resonate today. Born in Plainfield, New Jersey on 16 August 1929, Evans was classically trained and studied at Southeastern Louisiana University. In 1955 he moved to New York, where he worked with bandleader and theorist George Russell. In 1958, Evans joined Miles Davis' sextet, where he was to have a profound influence. In 1959, the band, then immersed in modal jazz, recorded Kind of Blue, the best-selling jazz album of all time. In late 1959, Evans left the Miles Davis band and began his career as a leader with Scott LaFaro and Paul Motian, a group now regarded as a seminal modern jazz trio. In 1961, ten days after recording the highly acclaimed Sunday at the Village Vanguard and Waltz for Debby, LaFaro died in a car accident. After months of seclusion, Evans re-emerged with a new trio, featuring bassist Chuck Israels. Despite his success, Evans suffered personal loss and struggled with drug abuse. Both his girlfriend Elaine and his brother Harry committed suicide, and he was a long time user of heroin. Many of his compositions have become standards and have been played and recorded by many artists. Evans was honored with 31 Grammy nominations and seven awards, and was inducted in the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame. This compilation contains Evans' first 12 albums as leader covering the years 1956 - when he recorded and released his debut record New Jazz Conceptions featuring the original version of his most covered track 'Waltz For Debby' - through to his seminal Empathy album in 1962. Generally considered in jazz circles as the period in which Evans' star shone brightest and the era of his finest work, this 6CD set is as close to the perfect Bill Evans collection as is currently available.

Ready yourselves, jazz aficionados, for modal piano brilliance, Bill Evans style! Released in 1977, Bill Evans - Quintessence, has the maestro diving headfirst into a lush, melodic hornscape - an elegant, smoky surprise.Let's start with the man himself. By 1977, Bill Evans was less of a pianist and more of a philosopher with 88 keys. His technique? Still gentle, still whispery, still capable of melting diamonds. But here, he brings his lyrical poetry into a new context: a quintet. That's right - not just his beloved trio format, but a quintet, people. No safety net. No piano bench to hide behind. Just sheer harmonic magic. The Evans dream team of supporting players was a stellar lineup. Starting with Harold Land (tenor sax) - The West Coast legend whose tone is so smooth it could pass as jazz-flavored gelato. Warm, reflective, and the perfect foil to Evans' crystalline touch. Next, there's Kenny Burrell (guitar). Playing with such subtlety you'd swear he was painting chords with a sable brush. Never flashy, always perfect. On bass, Ray Brown - The anchor of jazz itself. You want groove? He'll give you groove. You want soul? He's got that in spades too. And on drums, Philly Joe Jones. Because if you're gonna swing, you call the guy who made Miles Davis' band sweat.Together, they form a unit so tight it's basically a telepathic jazz circle. They're not just supporting Bill - they're expanding him! What's On the Menu?'Sweet Dulcinea' - A tune that proves you don't need to play fast to say something profound.'Bass Face' - Ray Brown gets the spotlight, and boy does he shine.'Martina' - A waltz so beautiful it should come with a warning label: may cause reflective gazing into middle distance.'Second Time Around' - A standard for an album that's all about elegance, subtle swing, and refined musicianship.'A Child Is Born' - The kind of rendition that makes you think maybe the world isn't so bad after all.So why add Quintessence to your collection?Because this is Bill Evans unplugged from the trio comfort zone, letting his lush harmonic sensibilities dance with top-tier horn players and rhythm gods. This album is meditative but never sleepy, introspective but never self-indulgent. It's rich, warm, and brimming with the quiet confidence of a master stretching his wings just because he can. This reissue brims with superior quality. Mastering by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman at Acoustech Mastering, double LP cut at 45 RPM and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings! Plus it's housed in a Stoughton Printing Old Style Tip-On gatefold jacket with scuff-resistant matte finish.Bottom line, if your jazz collection is missing Quintessence, it's like owning a Picasso with a blank corner. This is the kind of record that sneaks up on you - not flashy, but unforgettable. Go ahead. You deserve this kind of quintet magic.Mastering by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman at Acoustech MasteringDouble LP cut at 45 RPM and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Quality Record Pressings!Stoughton Printing Old Style Tip-On gatefold jacket with scuff-resistant matte finish UPC: 753088208072Label: Analogue Prod.Release Date: 4.24.26Format: Vinyl

In 1962, legendary jazz pianist Bill Evans collaborated for the first time on record with jazz guitarist Jim Hall to create the landmark album Undercurrent. And even though it is a two-person improvisational affair, it is almost unfathomable that these two giants alone fill up all the grooves on this record. The thoughtful interplay between these two musicians created such a beautiful, lush, and emotional journey that their work influenced many.
At the time of this recording, Bill Evans was one of the top jazz pianists (his performance with Miles Davis on Kind Of Blue is still a high-water mark), but he had stopped performing and recording after the death of his peer, bassist Scott LaFaro. Eventually, he was persuaded to return to music, and this was one of the first recordings upon his return.
Guitarist Jim Hall - who had worked with Ella Fitzgerald, Sonny Rollins, and Chico Hamilton - started his partnership with Evans during this time. Recorded over two sessions in April and May 1962, the two have that beautifully unspoken musical language of give and take; their recordings are refreshingly busy but also incredibly sparse. These two giants understand that intertwining their personalities and harmonic styles could create greatness.
This notable re-issue is an all-analog production affair-AAA Mastered and cut live by audio guru Kevin Gray (Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus)-and it's never sounded better.
So dim the lights and let this music breathe with you; it's an incredible listen and an essential album for both the novice listener wanting to dip their toe into the genre or the audiophile who needs to replace their well-worn vinyl copy. And depending on your day, it will color your mood in any emotive shade you desire.Track List

Limited 180gm audiophile vinyl repressing of this Jazz classic. Now cited as one of his best albums, Waltz for Debby was a live album from Bill Evans' trio and was the companion release to the critically acclaimed Sunday at the Village Vanguard. Wax Time.
Bill Frisell's project, In My Dreams, is a family reunion of sorts, which brings some of the acclaimed guitarist's closest friends together into a unique sextet - featuring Jenny Scheinman on violin, Eyvind Kang on viola, Hank Roberts on cello, Thomas Morgan on bass, and Rudy Royston on drums. Their deep musical history goes back decades, though never in this configuration, and together they travel wide expanses of American music including Frisell originals as well as jazz and Americana staples. Produced by Lee Townsend, the album is released as part of Frisell's 75th birthday celebrations.
