Formed in 1987 in the San Francisco Bay Area, Babylon A.D. quickly made a name for themselves with powerful live performances and infectious songwriting. Originally performing as The Persuaders, they caught the attention of Clive Davis, who signed them to Arista Records in 1989 after an explosive live showcase.Their self-titled 1990 debut included the hard rock staples "Bang Go the Bells," "Hammer Swings Down," and "The Kid Goes Wild" (featured in RoboCop 2 with comedian Sam Kinison). The album went gold, spent 38 weeks on the Billboard Top 200, and delivered three #1 songs at metal radio. Their 1992 follow-up, Nothing Sacred, produced by Tom Werman, brought more fan favorites including "Bad Blood" and "So Savage the Heart."Through the 90s and 2000s the band released Live in Your Face (1999), American Blitzkrieg (2002), and In the Beginning (2008). After regrouping in 2014, they issued the EP Lost Sessions and signed to Frontiers Records for Revelation Highway.Recent years saw the release of Live Lightning (2023) and the 5th studio album Rome Wasn't Built In A Day (2024). Now, with When The World Stops in 2025, Babylon A.D. once again proves that true hard rock never dies.

Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, the mysterious steel pan outfit hailing from Hamburg, Germany made significant noise in 2024 when French film Anatomy of a Fall won an Academy Award for best original screenplay. Bacao's cover of 50 Cent's "PIMP" was featured so heavily in the film and plays such a huge role in the storyline that it became synonymous with it's success. Subsequently, they ushered in the first appearance of steel pans in the orchestra pit at the Academy Awards so they could play the tune as director Justine Triet walked on stage to accept the award. All of this brought a lot of new fans to Bacao and pushed the streaming numbers of "PIMP" well past 40 million. For those in the know, this tune made it's way into underground fame back in 2008 when it was first pressed on band leader Bjorn Wagner's own Mocambo imprint and was often mistaken for the original sample source from which 50 made his hit.
All accolades and international fame aside, "PIMP" is literally just the tip of the Bacao iceberg. With four full length albums and a tall stack of 7" singles that have become staples to DJs around the world, they have been prolific since signing with Big Crown in 2014. Despite the constant releases and elaborate catalog, every recording session has borne more fruit than could fit on an album, leaving a handful of tunes in the recording vault. Here on Big Crown Vaults Vol. 4 we open up that vault and give all (well, most of) those tunes a proper pressing and release.
The album opens up with their cover of the Bob James uber-classic breakbeat "Nautilus" and they put a spin on the original that puts it directly in the must have category for all hip hop and breakbeat enthusiasts. Keeping their foot on the gas, they give the BRSB treatment to the Khruangbin classic "Maria También" with their signature bottom heavy drums taking the energy of the tune to a whole new place. Infamous for digging deep in the crates when picking material to reinterpret, they next take on Royce the 5'9"'s J Dilla produced "Let's Grow". Originally the B side to the first pressing of "PIMP" (and making an appearance on the very limited first 2LP pressing of their debut album 55) we put the "PIMP (Version)" on here where they give their original recording the proper dub treatment with melodica and tape echo galore. They turn up the tempo and the funk covering the Jackson 5's "Great To Be Here" and again dive deep into obscurity with the Billy Jones dancefloor burner "Lookout Baby (Here I Come)". While part of the allure of a new Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band album is finding out what covers they are going to take on, it is equally intriguing to see what original tunes they've cooked up. While BCR Vaults Vol. 4 only has one original, "Kaiso Noir", it's an uptempo crowd-pleaser that sounds like a mix between a b-boy break and a James Bond score.
This collection of songs spans from 2008 to 2023 and runs a variety of genres from hip hop to jazz to soul and pop through the Bacao lens. The band is already at work on their 5th full length studio album and this compilation should be the perfect thing to hold fans over until it arrives.Track List

Masaaki Suzuki and the Bach Collegium Japan, renowned for their definitive interpretations of Bach's vocal music, have also garnered critical acclaim for their recordings of major choral and orchestral works, including Mozart's Requiem and the Mass in C minor, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis and Symphony No. 9, and Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem. Their latest venture sees them turn their expertise to Felix Mendelssohn's symphony-cantata, Symphony No. 2 'Lobgesang' (Hymn of Praise). Scored for soloists, choir and orchestra, the work comprises three symphonic movements and a final chorus - a design that clearly echoes Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Yet, Mendelssohn takes this concept further, with the concluding cantata section occupying two-thirds of the entire work's duration. It's text draws from biblical excerpts and specially commissioned poems. The initial symphonic movements, steeped in German Romanticism, deftly alternate with chorale-like passages, establishing a profound link to the ancient cantata tradition that defines the monumental finale.Premiered at St Thomas' Church in Leipzig (the same church where Mendelssohn's hero, Johann Sebastian Bach, once worked), the work celebrates the 400th anniversary of Gutenberg's invention of the printing press. It proved an immediate and resounding success, quickly becoming one of the most frequently performed works during Mendelssohn's lifetime. UPC: 7318599927619Label: BisRelease Date: 4.3.26Format: CD

Bad Brains is the self-titled debut studio album recorded by American hardcore punk/reggae band Bad Brains. Recorded in 1981 and released on (then) cassette-only label ROIR on February 5, 1982, many fans refer to it as "The Yellow Tape" because of it's yellow packaging. Though Bad Brains had recorded the 16 song Black Dots album in 1979 and the 5-song Omega Sessions EP in 1980, the ROIR cassette was the band's first release of anything longer than a single. The release includes the original liner notes by Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo. In coordination with the band, Org Music has overseen the restoration and remastering of the iconic Bad Brains' recordings. The audio was mastered by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering, and the record was pressed on special banana peel variant vinyl at Furnace Record Pressing.Track List
