Son of the famous Johann Sebastian, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach was a renowned keyboard virtuoso in the 18th century. A prolific composer and theorist of keyboard instruments, he forged the aesthetic of Empfindsamkeit, a style in which emotion is conveyed through subtle contrasts and harmonic surprises. From his Berlin sonatas to his flamboyant Fantasies, his work, published with great pomp for connoisseurs and amateurs, remains a pinnacle of musical eloquence. Arnaud de Pasquale, through the virtuosity of his playing, reveals all it's depth and expressive power. UPC: 3760385430799Label: Chateau VersaillesRelease Date: 4.10.26Format: CD

With their seventh full-length, "Death Doom Punks", Arroganz deliver exactly what the title promises: the brutality of old school death metal meets the attitude and unpolished directness of punk. This album pulls no punches and hits straight into the gut and face. The German trio has amplified 15 years of experience into a record that comes with their trademark sound but is confident and mature both in songwriting and storytelling. On "Death Doom Punks", Arroganz are never afraid to let their influences shine through as they obviously made them their own. Driven by a heavy pumping bass and relentlessly whipped drum skins, the trio stacks massive riffs on top of each other and finishes any remaining resistance off with a barrage of deep-throated growls. Whatever Arroganz are doing, it always comes out at 100% while never forgetting the original roots in old school death metal. The trio's unwillingness to compromise has been hailed by many and earned them the hate of others - about which they do not give the slightest... as authenticity and honesty in every aspect are their key traits. With Arroganz what you see and hear is what you get, and "Death Doom Punks" is not just the album title but also a declaration of allegiance and intent. Get on board, bang your head, slam and rage - or get out!

The first new material from Chicago House native Arsene since his debut 12' smash last year. Sporting 4 tracks of heavy analog that heat up the dead of night underneath the Windy City deep freeze. We didn't know 'Jack Shit', but we do now - this is a big one. Arsene's debut 7' kicked off 2025 with his bang-the-box underdog smash hit 'Jack Shit.' The song went underground-viral seconds after the test presses started circulating, garnering commented support ranging from Classic's Luke Solomon, Deeper Shades Lars Behrenroth, Mark Grusane, Radioslave, Danny Krivit, Stones Throw's JRocc, Marcellus Pitman, Darryn Jones, even Stretch Armstrong. Lefto debuted it on his Kiosk Radio show while a chance run-in with Moodymann at the airport seems to be the source of it's club debut. Record was sold out weeks before release date.FOMO-not though, as here Arsene returns to his native Chicago with a 4 piece slab of the real Windy City house sound - this time appropriately sized up to 12' and including the full length version of 'Jack Shit'. We've heard many youngsters try their hand at the tracky analog house sound of the 2nd City, only to fall well short of the greats that paved the way. Here Arsene manages to not only stay true to the vibe but also deliver a fresh perspective and energy that separates both this record and him as producer from the imitators. A student of the game, looking forward to more from this potential Rookie Of The Year. Tracklisting:A1. Jack ShitA2. The Breeze of Your ShirtB1. Smacking Your HeadB2. Free For All was perhaps Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers' most potent album. Recorded in February 1964, the music bristled with the charged energy of the civil rights movement with a powerful sextet line-up featuring the great drummer with Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Curtis Fuller, Cedar Walton and Reggie Workman. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

'S Make It, recorded in 1964 and released the following year on Limelight, captures drummer Art Blakey leading a transitional edition of his Jazz Messengers. At the time, Blakey was navigating the departure of several key members and searching for a new configuration, resulting in a distinctive short-lived lineup within the band's long history. The sextet featured Lee Morgan (trumpet,) Curtis Fuller (trombone,) John Gilmore (tenor saxophone,) John Hicks (piano,) and Victor Sproles (bass.) Together, they delivered a hard-driving program that reflects both Blakey's established hard-bop intensity and the shifting personnel landscape of the mid-1960s Messengers. Blakey's drumming anchors the session throughout with the galvanic rhythmic command that defined his leadership across decades. The Verve Vault Series is always mastered from analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

Limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing. The 1961 album Mosaic marked a pivotal moment in the story of Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers with the drummer welcoming the arrival of trumpeter Freddie Hubbard (replacing Lee Morgan) and pianist Cedar Walton (replacing Bobby Timmons). The band also expanded to a sextet with the addition of trombonist Curtis Fuller who joined existing members tenor saxophonist Wayne Shorter and bassist Jymie Merritt to establish a powerful new line-up that would perform together until 1964 and record several classic albums including Buhaina's Delight and Free for All. Mosaic opens with a flourish as the band launches into the magnificent title track composed by Walton, and the set also includes memorable compositions by Shorter ("Children of the Night"), Fuller ("Arabia"), and Hubbard ("Down Under" and "Crisis"). This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes.Track List

The formation heard here marks the third incarnation of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, which included trumpeter Lee Morgan, tenor saxophonist Benny Golson, pianist Bobby Timmons and bassist Jymie Merritt. Golson penned four of the songs from Moanin' and added several perennial compositions to the group's repertoire, among them the two bonus tracks on this edition, "Whisper Not" and "I Remember Clifford," the latter written in memory of star trumpeter Clifford Brown. Pianist Bobby Timmons contributed such hits of his own as the title track, "Moanin'". THE COMPLETE ALBUM + 2 BONUS TRACKS - 180- GRAM VIRGIN VINYL - LIMITED EDITIONTrack List

Historic 4 hours of previously unissued 1959 live Art Pepper recorded at Vancouver, Canada's legendary jazz club The Cellar. The release of Art Pepper's Everything Happens To Me: 1959 - Live At The Cellar is the stuff music archivists can only dream of finding. Recordings by an historic and important jazz artist, at a storied venue, at a time when the artist was making some of their most essential work. In this case, catching Pepper on tape at The Cellar in 1959 finds him in the midst of creating and straddling landmark releases like, Art Pepper Meets The Rhythm Section (1957), Modern Art (1957), Art Pepper + Eleven (1959) and Gettin' Together (1960). Though Pepper was going through a down time, Vancouver, Canada's jazz club, The Cellar was in full swing and in the middle of its seven-year run (1956-1963).Dave Quarin, a saxophone player himself, managed The Cellar at the time, "The Cellar years were a good time for us," Quarin states. "There were a half a million or so people in Vancouver then. We had CBC radio in the late 1950s, and they did live shows from Vancouver. We were very in-touch with American news, so I knew about the good musicians." It was Quarin who captured Art on tape. Pepper was accompanied by pianist Chris Gage, bassist Tony Clitheroe and drummer George Ursan.Everything Happens To Me: 1959 - Live At The Cellar utilizes a fly-on-the-wall approach that includes all the existing music as the recordings happened. As a result, the 4-CD / Digital set includes some incomplete tracks, but most songs run near to completion. The producers Laurie Pepper (Art's widow) and Omnivore Recordings', Cheryl Pawelski didn't want to omit the near hour of additional music just because tape ran out on a track. Restoration and mastering engineer Michael Graves, restored and unified the existing audio to welcome you into The Cellar environment despite microphone placement changes within the club with nearly every change of tape.Album notes by Kirk Silsbee include interviews with Laurie Pepper and Dave Quarin who also provided archival photos from the era, and the album art is built around the linocut that used to hang above the bar at The Cellar, a stunning piece called The Trio by Harry J. Webb (1954).It's not often that ephemeral moments at pivotal times during an artist's career are captured such that nearly 70 years later they are ours to experience, but Art Pepper's 1959 visits to The Cellar were transformative, "Pepper would later say that the experience was so emotionally satisfying that he would subse¬quently recommit himself to jazz."Art Pepper ~ Live At The Cellar

London-based, Wrexham-raised artist and producer Art School Girlfriend announces her third studio album Lean In, due March 13th via Fiction Records. She also shares new track ‘The Peaks’, and announces a 2026 run of headline dates.
Armed with the freedom and space to experiment, Lean In was self-produced in her own East London studio and sees Art School Girlfriend set to move from cult bedroom artist to one of the UK’s most vital artist/producers operating at the moment, tackling alternative rock, electronic pop & experimental ambient sounds in her most cohesive work to date.
Lean In arrives at a time where her audience has grown exponentially, partly due to her diverse involvement across the music scene at large – contributions to the work of Daniel Avery, Lane 8, Jasper Tygner and Ghostpoet; being chosen by Bonobo to DJ at his Outliers series at Drumsheds; touring the US with both The Japanese House and Marika Hackman; a notable DJ set for HOR; producing and engineering for up-and-coming post-rock band Pencil; the tastemaker curation of her 5-years-in-the-running monthly radio show on Foundation FM.
Self-producing, writing and recording Lean In, Mackey invites the listener to quite literally lean into the world she has built around her. With every detail intentional, this new record is less of a honing of her trademark sound of emotional blend of electronic sounds and shoegaze - and more of an expansion of it. At the top of next year, she will perform these new tracks for the first time on a UK headline tour.

On May 21, on what would have been Arthur Russell's 75th birthday, Audika Records presents a remastered/redux double vinyl re release of the much-beloved compilation Love Is Overtaking Me of Arthur's folk, pop, and country songs including "Planted a Thought", "Close My Eyes" and "I Couldn't Say It To Your Face".Originally released in 2007 the redux edition includes new masters from a recently found pristine tape reel and was remastered by Timothy Stollenwerk at Stereophonic Mastering in Portland, OR. Revised artwork by Molly Smith with extensive liner notes from Arthur's partner Tom Lee.Over twenty years ago, Audika Records began compiling and releasing the exceptionally varied, long sought-after music of Arthur Russell, and in the process has succeeded at helping the beloved, late artist find the broader audience he always believed he would reach. A new generation of listeners and critics has come to appreciate Russell as a visionary and an influence upon a broad range of today's most compelling musical artists. While much critical and popular affection for Russell's music has come about well after his untimely death from AIDS in 1992, many fellow artists believed in his genius and were drawn to collaborate with him during his lifetime. The legendary producer John Hammond (Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen) recorded Russell on several occasions; a number of these recordings now heard on Love Is Overtaking Me, along with songs recorded with various incarnations of The Flying Hearts, a group formed by Russell and Ernie Brooks whose shifting lineup included, by turns, Jerry Harrison, Rhys Chatham, Jon Gibson, Peter Gordon and Peter Zummo as well as Larry Saltzman and David Van Tieghem. Several other Russell projects are represented on Love Is Overtaking Me, including The Sailboats, Turbo Sporty and Bright & Early.Compiled from over eight hours of material, Love Is Overtaking Me reaches back further to Russell's earliest compositions beginning in 1973 and spans forward to his very last recordings, made at home in 1991. Several of the songs featured prominently in Matt Wolf's now herald 2008 film Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell.
