Deluxe Edition 2xLP 2014 reissue on red vinyl. In the years since it's release, American Football's self-titled debut full-length has quietly become one of the most fiercely beloved titles in the Polyvinyl catalog. Though the trio - Mike Kinsella (Cap'n Jazz, Owen, Owls), Steve Lamos, and Steve Holmes - only played a few shows and released just one other record (a three-song EP that preceded this full-length), their influence and legacy has steadily continued to grow in the time after they disbanded. From it's now iconic artwork to the band's unique songwriting approach (highlighted by an emphasis on shifting time signatures and sincere lyrics), American Football proves a record doesn't become a true classic through flashiness or catering to trends, but rather the deep emotional connection it forges between the music and the listener. After guitarist Steve Holmes discovered a set of cassette tapes containing a variety of unreleased recordings, the band curated an album's worth of these rare live recordings, demos, and practice sessions (in which the group rehearsed material they never recorded elsewhere) to complement the original record. Now available on 2xLP and 2xCD, American Football (Deluxe Edition) features beautifully expanded packaging that incorporates new photographs from Chris Strong along with lyrics, detailed liner notes written by the band, and never-before-seen band pictures.Track List

Limited 180 gram orange colored vinyl LP pressing, includes digital download. In 1999 Polyvinyl, then only 3 years old, released an unassuming debut album by a band called American Football. The band played a dozen shows and then parted ways. Then something remarkable happened: for the next 15 years, the album was discovered over and over, going on to sell more than 100,000 copies and becoming one of the most influential indie albums of all-time. In 2014 and 2015 American Football played their first shows in 15 years, selling out venues the world over. Organically, the band started to write new material, and years of ideas gelled into the a picture-perfect second album - to be released this October - 17 years after the first.Track List

Limited 180gm Light Blue vinyl LP pressing, includes digital download. American Football's original triumph, on their 1999 self-titled debut, was to reunite two shy siblings: emo and post-rock. It was a pioneering album where lyrical clarity was obscured and complicated by the stealth musical textures surrounding it. Like Slint's Spiderland, or Codeine's The White Birch, even Talk Talk's Laughing Stock, American Football asked far more questions than it cared to answer. But there wasn't a band around anymore to explain it, anyway. The three young men who made the album - Mike Kinsella, Steve Holmes, and Steve Lamos - split up pretty much on it's release. 15 years later, American Football reunited (now as a four-piece, with the addition of Nate Kinsella). They played far larger shows than in their original incarnation and recorded their long-anticipated second album, 2016's American Football (LP2). The release was widely praised, but the band members still felt like their best work was yet to come.
Blue Smoke vinyl. American Football's first album showcases cleanly picked guitars, intricate drumming, and the vocals of Mike Kinsella (Owen, Cap'n Jazz). The band, made up of Kinsella, Steve Holmes and Steve Lamos rooted itself in Champaign and recorded this album at Private Studios with Brendan Gamble (Braid). As a band, American Football dissolved into the history books almost as soon as this album was released, but it's success continued to grow in their absence and the band eventually reunited in 2014 for the record's 15th anniversary.Track List

LA Weekly described him as "Johnny Cash at his blackest, mixed with Father John Misty, if he exhumed graves at Hollywood Forever Cemetery." While Rolling Stone proclaimed, "Kiranos unflinchingly explores dark and grim subject matter from suicide to serial killers. He spins these topics into dark love songs that explode into heavy-metal catharsis."Track List

Limited edition vinyl LP pressing of the uber-successful sophomore album from this UK vocalist. Although her 2003 debut was a success, her rowdy offstage behavior became the focus of tabloids and critics instead of the music. Because of this, Winehouse stepped out of the spotlight and concentrated on putting the focus back on her music. Three years later, her sophomore release surprised critics and excited her fan base. Combining a strong, Jazzy vocal style with often frank lyrical content recounting tales of love and loss, Winehouse is a truly talented songwriter with a good ear for melody, making this album an essential purchase. Limited double vinyl LP pressing of the debut album from the British Rock/R&B diva and gossip column favorite. Frank achieved fantastic critical and commercial acclaim. Production for the album took place during 2002 to 2003 and was handled by Winehouse, Salaam Remi, Gordon "Comissioner Gordon" Williams, Jimmy Hogarth and Matt Rowe. It's title alludes to the nature and tone of Winehouse's lyrics on the album as well as one of her influences, Frank Sinatra. Upon it's release, Frank received generally positive reviews from most music critics and earned Winehouse several accolades, including an Ivor Novello Award. Includes 'Stronger Than Me,' 'Take The Box,' and 'Fuck Me Pumps.'Track List

Years before Amy Winehouse garnered international attention with Back To Black, the sassy British Soul singer put herself on the U.K. music map with her 2003 debut, Frank. Nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, the record glides along on the subtly jazzy production of Salaam Remi, which allows Winehouse's expressive voice to shine, particularly on the Trip-Hop-tinged "Stronger Than Me," the powerful "You Sent Me Flying," and the sultry "I Heard Love Is Blind." Double vinyl pressing, vinyl album 12" & 45 rpm disc(s). 2011 posthumous release, a collection of previously unreleased tracks, alternate versions of existing classics, as well as a couple of brand new Amy compositions. Following her tragic passing, some of the producers and musicians who worked closely with Amy Winehouse, among them Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, spent time listening over the many recordings that Amy had made, before, during, and after the release of Frank and Back to Black. It was said by all who worked with Amy that she never sang or played a song the same way twice. It quickly became apparent to Salaam and Mark that they had a collection of songs that deserved to be heard, a collection of songs that were a fitting treatment to Amy the artist and, as importantly, Amy the friend.Track List

Aside from being one of Anamanaguchi's most streamed songs, "Miku," featuring the vocaloid pop star Hatsune Miku, is an anthem for a new type of musical icon, one that doesn't need to be attached to a physical human body. Miku, which was officially released in 2013, is a Vocaloid software voicebank developed by Crypton Future Media. Her voice is based around Japanese actress Saki Fujita and uses Yamaha Corporation's Vocaloid 2, Vocaloid 3, and Vocaloid 4 singing synthesizing technologies. Anamanaguchi wrote "Miku" with the virtual musician and were the first band to perform live alongside the Hatsune Miku hologram on the Miku Expo tour in 2016. Since then, the song has been streamed tens of millions of times around the globe and given way to several viral TikTok moments with 20K+ unique videos, signature dance moves, and millions of views.
Consistently engaging their audience in both the real world and the virtual internet-sphere, Anamanaguchi has had TV performances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Adult Swim's Fish Center, multiple appearances at Porter Robinson's Secret Sky Fest, and co-curated one of the first major live stream events for indie musicians with the Nether Meant Festival, which was featured in the New York Times and The Washington Post. The band has also continued to stay true to a uniquely cohesive collaborative spirit, sharing tracks with artists such as HANA, Planet 1999, Flux Pavilion, Porter Robinson, Dorian Electra, Pussy Riot, Village People, and POCHI.
For 2022, Polyvinyl is proud to announce the release of Miku on vinyl for the first time. The release will feature the original composition as well as 8 bonus versions of the song including remixes from LLLL, Carpainter, Ben Aqua, Mino Mino, Lazerdisk, as well as an NES version, a Japanese version, and an instrumental version.Track List

Moving Day captures André 3000 in a very important time. Before New Blue Sun was recorded, filmmaker Dexter Navy films André in Venice Beach, California. The day happened to be when André was moving out of his home and into a new place. The score for Moving Day is a weaving of field recordings from the date of filming, an impromptu Q&A by Navy to André, and post studio recording performed forward then backward while watching the film. The additional track 'Tunnels of Egypt' is an unreleased New Blue Sun sessions recording.Track List
