Vinyl LP pressing. After "Mothership Connection" came out in 1975 there was speculation as to whether Parliament could come up with something as good. No problem. The seminal "The Clones Of Dr Funkenstein" album was released in 1976 and is one of the P-Funk crew's finest. It went gold in America peaking at #20 on the Billboard album chart. George Clinton's merry crew included Bootsy Collins (bass), Glen Goins (guitar), Garry Shider (guitar), and Jerome Brailey (drums). Musical arrangements were courtesy of keyboard player Bernie Worrell and former James Brown horn player Fred Wesley. Studio horn players included the legendary Brecker Brothers. Every track was a winner with 'Gamin' on Ya' and 'Children Of Production' crackling with musical electricity. 'Getten' To Know You' was even a romantic ballad - of sorts. 'Everything Is On The One 'was a one song summation of the refreshed Parliament groove philosophy. Clinton of course played the character of Dr. Funkenstein depicted on the iconic front cover whose "funk was the best. " Dr. Funkenstein was released as a single and got to #43 in the Billboard R&B chart in February 1977. This is one of Parliament's finest albums and Ace are delighted to make it available just prior to the Christmas rush.

Ariel's Amatoria feels like a modern cousin to Brandy's most intimate work-layered, emotional, and built around the complexities of real love. The project floats between fantasy and truth: messy crushes, dangerous devotion, spells cast to save something fragile, and the quiet moment where you learn to choose yourself. With velvet-soft vocals and harmonies that curl like smoke, Amatoria transforms every chapter of love-infatuation, heartbreak, rebirth-into a diary you can dance to.

"Cinematic Visionaries Calibro 35 and Noir Master James Ellroy Pay Homage to L.A. with a Pure Crime-Funk Original Soundtrack. Out October 9"There are collaborations that feel inevitable like they were waiting to happen in some shadowed corner of culture. The union between Italian cinematic funk visionaries Calibro 35 and internationally acclaimed master of noir fiction and New York Times bestselling author James Ellroy is undoubtedly one of them. When Calibro 35 were invited to compose the original soundtrack for Francesco Zippel's documentary Ellroy vs L.A., they didn't simply write music for film. They stepped directly into Ellroy's universe the most dangerous corners of American crime fiction and discovered, to no one's surprise, that it's darkness felt strangely familiar. The result is Ellroy vs L.A., the band's new album out October 9 on Record Kicks. Twelve brand new tracks of cinematic crime funk, psychedelia, and hypnotic groove that don't accompany Ellroy's world so much as inhabit it.The soundtrack's move through Ellroy's fictional and real-world mythologies with deliberate precision. Stylistically, the album finds Calibro 35 in their most natural yet most cinematic state: crime funk, psychedelia, and hypnotic groove pushed into darker, more narrative-driven territory by the weight of Ellroy's world. From the gloomy, suspense-laden groove of the opener Black Dahlia to the evocative closing piece Moonlight Sonative, the album unfolds as a complete cinematic arc, showcasing Calibro 35 at their very best. L.A. Confidential delivers a super-suspenseful, thrilling tension that feels like a chase through neon-lit streets, while Riots erupts into explosive cinematic funk, capturing chaos and urban unrest in full force. LSD on Sunset Boulevard drifts into a hazy, instrumental soul journey psychedelic, warm, and disorienting, like a late-night hallucination of the city itself. The Big Nowhere (Part I & II) expands the narrative into a slow-burning, atmospheric descent, unfolding like a two-act crime saga. Welcome to the Land of Vacation and Probation hits with kick-ass, uptempo crime-funk madness, urgent and relentless in it's propulsion, while White Jazz is a mood of suspended, noir-infused jazz tension cool, shadowy, and unresolved. Together, the tracks map Los Angeles as a fractured yet hypnotic landscape suspended between glamour and violence, beauty and decay, myth and realityBorn in Milan in 2007 with the mission of excavating the golden age of Italian film music Morricone, Piccioni, Trovajoli, Calibro 35 have spent nearly two decades transforming that initial obsession into a singular artistic language. Their work bridges vintage Italian soundtracks with contemporary jazz and cinematic funk, earning them a global following rare for an Italian instrumental act.Their music has been sampled by Dr. Dre (Compton, "One Shot One Kill" feat. Snoop Dogg), Jay-Z ("Picasso Baby"), and Damon Albarn's The Child of Lov. Rolling Stone described them as "the most fascinating, retro-maniac and genuine thing that has happened to Italy in the past few years," while Far Out Magazine called them "one of the most skilful and innovative instrumental outfits on the planet right now." The band (Enrico Gabrielli, Massimo Martellotta, Fabio Rondanini, and Tommaso Colliva) continue to evolve without losing their core identity. In 2025 they released the critically acclaimed Exploration, further expanding their sonic universe, and were invited to perform at the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games at the Arena di Verona, confirming their growing international stature. With Ellroy vs L.A., Calibro 35 don't just compose a soundtrack they translate a mythology into rhythm, tension, and groove. Between fiction and reality, they find a city that never truly sleeps, only pulses in darkness. Press play, and Los Angeles begins to unfold in sound.

After nearly three years, *Can You Feel It Vol. 5* marks the release of a brand-new installment in Tramp Records' Disco/Boogie series. Like all four previous volumes, Vol. 5 offers a colorful mix of songs from the late 1970s and early 1980s. From extremely rare tracks to easily accessible ones and even unreleased material-this release has everything to make a collector's heart race. Once again, these songs will get you on your feet, inspire you to dance, and transport you back to the glittering world of the late 1970s. CAN YOU FEEL IT? Let's take a closer look at a few of the songs on this album. Kicking things off are Bill Deal & The Rhondels, a band that needs no introduction. The same cannot be said for Tom Balistreri and Ryjel. The latter presents "Heart's On Fire," a seven-minute journey into previously unreleased deep disco. "Old Mother Winter" may not be a typical disco song, but it's undoubtedly a fantastic composition. The Stone Mill Band is relatively unknown even among hardcore collectors. The most recent track on this album is by singer Tory Wynter who already contributed a song for Can You Feel It Vol.4. "Oh Let The Rain Fall Down" was released in 1988. The second record opens with "Been Thinkin' About You" by Avatar-an amazing song and probably the rarest gem on this album, in stark contrast to Piz-Zazz - a record you can find easily for a few dollars. Saxophonist King Perkoff was born in Santa Monica, California, but now resides in Berlin, and with "When You Live In Marin" he delivers a real disco-funk banger! Glenn "Shake & Bake" Doughty played professional football as a wide receiver for the Baltimore Colts from 1972 to 1979. Together with some of his teammates, he founded the Shake & Bake Band in 1975. We probably aren't telling Tramp fans anything new here. Anyway, a little over two years ago, we reissued the first of their two extremely hard to find 45-RPM singles ("Shake & Bake Pt. 1 & 2"). We also included a DJ-friendly edit of the song on "Movements Vol. 12." It is a must for us here at Tramp that we also reissue their second single, "Starflight Disco Pt. 1 & 2," soon! So there you have it, 13 obscure but brilliant MODERN SOUL, DISCO and BOOGIE tunes of which all have not been compiled anywhere else. We sincerely hope you enjoy our guided tour back into the late 1970s and 80s Disco era. UPC: 5050580870963Label: TrampRelease Date: 7.3.26Format: Vinyl

Chilling Effect is the product of 4 years of songwriting, rewriting, recording, re-recording, production and re-production that largely took place in 30 to 60 minute sessions in Patrick Wade's west Toronto home studio between 2022 and 2026. The album is inspired equally by late 70s R&B, yacht rock, baroque pop, and psychedelic soul. Wade specifically cites Steely Dan, The New Birth, The Kinks, Randy Nemwan, Bruno Berle, Ned Doheny, Rob Galbraith, Ironsides, The Beach Boys, Stereolab, Vulfpeck, Cortex, The Honeybus, Nathan Fielder, and the BeeGees as his direct influences for this record. The album includes 8 songs which explore both the literal definition of "Chilling Effect" (people being discouraged or intimidated from engaging in expression for fear of negative consequences) and the colloquial effect of chilling, (either by being too chill, or not chill enough) and the effect these frames of mind can have on someone. Lyrically, it is a typically cynical look at extreme character archetypes, social movements and the overarching self interest that ties it all together.

Starting out as a vocalist for Creative Funk, Diane Jenkins made her mark as an exceptionally soulful performer. Although Creative Funk were quite successful for a short while in their hometown of New York City, they never had the backing of a major label to expose them to a wider audience. Leaving behind some wonderful recordings with Creative Funk - and also as a featured solo artist, Jenkins carved out a small but impressive legacy in the few years she was active that will no doubt resonate for years to come. At long last, presented here are the complete singles that she recorded under her own name, newly remastered for this exclusive compilation, and pressed on limited edition color vinyl for your listening pleasure.

Michigan Band EJ & the Echoes: Rediscovering a Soul Legacy. The story of EJ & the Echoes represents a remarkable chapter in Michigan's music history and the early American soul scene. It's origins date back to the late 1950s, when Everett J. "EJ" Gronda was already active as a young musician. While studying at Central Michigan University in the early 1960s, he met the talented vocalist Manuel "Manny" Holcolm. Together with other musicians, they formed vocal groups that soon performed throughout the state and even recorded near Detroit's legendary Motown studios. In 1963, Gronda founded EJ & the Echoes, a band that quickly gained popularity at dances, clubs, and weddings across Michigan. With Manny Holcolm as lead singer, the group developed a distinctive harmony-driven sound, blending influences ranging from the Beatles to James Brown. The band served as a house band in Traverse City, opened for national acts, and performed regularly at well-known Detroit venues. Between 1964 and 1967, EJ & the Echoes released several singles on the Diamond Jim Records label. Although major commercial success eluded them at the time, their recordings later found international recognition. Today, their songs remain staples of the British Northern Soul scene. After the band dissolved, the members pursued different paths. EJ Gronda became a schoolteacher but remained devoted to music throughout his life. In 2006, the musicians reunited for an emotional jam session. EJ Gronda passed away in 2022, followed by Manuel Holcolm in 2024. Their musical legacy endures-on this vinyl release, dance floors, and in the memory of a remarkable era. Our sincere thanks go to author and blues historian Fred Reif. He wrote the accompanying text and provided all the pictures of the band printed in the gatefold cover. Without him, this project would not have been possible. Force M.D.’s Greatest Hits captures one of the key vocal groups that helped move classic doo-wop harmony into the hip-hop/R&B era. Coming out of Staten Island, the group could handle street-corner ballads, electro-era R&B, and polished crossover material without losing their vocal-group foundation. The essentials are here: “Tender Love,” their Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis-produced breakthrough, hit #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #23 in the UK; “Love Is a House” became their biggest R&B chart success, reaching #1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart; and “Tears” gave them an early signature moment, peaking at #5 on the Hot R&B Singles chart. This greatest hits compilation brings together 17 of their top tracks on two LPs.

Since 2022, Gabriel Jacoby has supplied listeners with captivating singles, including “the one,” “baby,” “be careful,” “hillside,” and the gently melodic “forever”—all of which have surpassed one million streams across platforms. Now 27, Jacoby released his debut EP gutta child in November 2025, marking a defining moment in his career. Born in rural Anderson, South Carolina, and raised in a family of artists, he began playing piano at a young age before expanding into bass, drums, guitar, and production after relocating to Tampa, Florida. By his teens, Jacoby was recording in a home studio and sharing music on SoundCloud, with early rap-driven tracks like 2016’s “Mr. Poet” earning six-figure streams. A brief incarceration during his youth proved formative, shaping his perspective and deepening his commitment to using his voice with intention.gutta child earned widespread critical acclaim from NPR, Billboard, The FADER, Stereogum, PASTE, and more, with its standout track “be careful”—a bluesy love song layered with deeper meaning—also marking Jacoby’s debut performance on COLORS. The momentum continued as Jacoby toured as the sole supporting act across all dates on Khamari’s sold-out To Dry a Tear North American Tour, capping off what has become a breakthrough year and cementing his rise as an artist guided by purpose.

There is a kinetic energy that binds drummer and producer Karriem Riggins and singer-songwriter, rapper, and producer LIV.e, the spark that happens when instinct meets flow and spirit finds rhythm. Their collaborative debut as GENA (short for "God Energy, Naturally Amazing," and loosely inspired by Gina from Martin), The Pleasure Is Yours feels like a playful, soulful conversation between two kindred improvisers: LIV.e's smoky, unpolished vocals glide through Riggins' warm, percussive universe. Rooted in jazz, soul, and hip-hop, LIV.e brings a raw, experimental approach to R&B, while Riggins - known for his work with Common, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Madlib, and his close kinship with J Dilla - extends his lifelong dialogue between jazz improvisation and beat science. Together they create a world that's analog and ethereal, percussive and poetic, bridging eras without settling in one - the sound of two artists finding a new shared language rooted in rhythm, vulnerability, and exuberance.

"When The City Sleeps" is the natural continuation of Alex Isley's 2025 EP WHEN. (BLUE) The project expands on the themes she introduced earlier in the year, offering a deeper exploration of the duality within her love experiences and relationships set against the backdrop of Los Angeles, specifically the moments that unfold "when the city is asleep." The album highlights the intimate places, late-night moods, and emotional reflections that shape her connection to both the city and her relationships. With titles like "PCH" and "Lullaby," Alex thoughtfully weaves together ideas that reinforce this nighttime Los Angeles narrative, creating a cohesive and immersive conceptual world.
