New 10th anniversary fully remastered new edition of Soul Jazz Records' ground-breaking Venezuela 70 featuring Vytas Brenner, Pablo Schneider, Angel Rada, Miguel Angel Fuster and many more. // Venezuela 70 was the first ever compilation of it's kind to take a look at the fascinating music scene created in Venezuela in the 1970s, a stunning blend of Funk, Latin Rock, European electronic experimentalism, Jazz and more! // Venezuela during the 1970s was both a modern cultural and economic powerhouse in Latin America, rich from vast oil supplies. Situated at the northern part of South America, with neighbouring Colombia to it's west, Brazil to it's south and a north coast bordering the Caribbean. The country's position and wealth led to an explosion in cultural activity during this time. // Taking musical influences from all these surroundings as well as healthy doses of American musical sounds, the 1970s saw the evolution of a new generation of creative Venezuelan artists such as Vytas Brenner, Angel Rada, Pablo Schneider and Miguel Angel Fuster, who all explored the possibilities of creating a stunning 'melting pot' mix of underground rock, synthetic electronics, funk, jazz and Latin American while simultaneously exploring their links with Venezuelan roots music, creating a new sound. // CD comes in new card-edition complete with extended text and artists biographies. // REVIEWS: "A Fantastic Release" Latino Life // "Groundbreaking" Vinyl Factory // "Venezuela 70 offers a whole host of influences - progressive and psychedelic music, Afro-rock, Krautrock, Salsa & Tropicalia, jazz fusion, experimental synthesizer sounds. As Soul Jazz's excellent compilations usually are, this is researched and compiled to a very high standard" RYM

Mr. Blues Explosion is still lighting the torches and ringing the bells, singing and preaching from the rooftops, live on the world stage, on the airwaves, via satellite, and right here, right now, on a brand new record: SONGS OF PERSONAL LOSS AND PROTESTSONGS OF PERSONAL LOSS AND PROTEST was recorded with Jon's unstoppable touring  band, and if you've been lucky enough to see them in the past few years destroying audiences from Akron to Osaka, from San Joes to Santiago  - then you know that Jon is still fronting the world's greatest rock'n'roll live show: rama-la soul-shaking, set-for-stun, sweat-soaked, and ultimately, beautifully, uplifting.Picking up where 2024's mini LP SICK OF BEING SICK! left off, Jon tears it up with SPIDER BOWMAN on drums and KENDALL WIND on bass (also famously the rhythm section of Woodstock's punk powerhouse The Bobby Lees). They deliver twelve brand-new all-original songs of hyper-driven soul and powerhouse groove, beats hard like diamonds and slick like ice, fuzz bass in your face, and an avalanche of uncontrollable urges, pushing Jon's latest outburst of garage punk explosionism - hollering, drooling, sexified crooning, and vociferously lamenting these difficult times - to new levels of rock'n'roll expressionism.    SONGS OF PERSONAL LOSS AND PROTEST is the New New Super Heavy Rock for Hard Times.CD Contains 10 additional tracks from 2024; Come On! On Squirrel Flower's new album, Say a Prayer to the Gods of Getting Going, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Ella Williams, delivers her most transcendent and instantly classic record to date. It's an album full of hope and beauty, with themes of staying in constant motion, electric love, and knowing when to leave, but also when to stick around. After touring in support of 2023's Tomorrow's Fire, Williams remained on the road, following instinct over itinerary-passing through Gary, Indiana; Los Angeles; Putney, Vermont; Silver City, New Mexico; and Hudson, New York. Each stop became a site of creative renewal. She ended up recording the album at two locations: a makeshift studio in rural Wisconsin, and at Drop of Sun in Asheville, NC, featuring friends and collaborators such as Dimitri Giannpolous (Horse Jumper of Love), Sofia Jensen (Free Range), Clay Frankel (Twin Peaks, Hazel City), and many others along the way.Standouts like "Reelin" and "Highway Woman" showcase the push and pull of life as a musician; the constant need for embarking on a hero's journey in search of reflection and freedom. Others like "Not Me" and "Cleveland" are classic Squirrel Flower, but with a sharper and more concentrated writing style paired with some of Williams' strongest vocal delivery of her career. Mixed and co-produced by Alex Farrar (MJ Lenderman, Wednesday), Say a Prayer to the Gods of Getting Going is the sound of cosmic rebirth, looking behind to illuminate what's ahead. "Pack your life and your guitar," Williams sings on "Highway Woman." "You can change it as you go. You do not plan on dying." In addition to her seemingly nonstop touring across North America and Europe, Squirrel Flower has been featured in outlets such as Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, The NY Times, Paste, and many others, as well as performances at NPR's Tiny Desk & KEXP. Williams' music has been streamed millions of times around the globe, proving her to be an undeniable force as a songwriter

Seelie Court - the world's premier label for rare and previously unreleased archive recordings of underground folk, rock, proto-metal, and psychedelic music presents The Steve Brown Band. Formed in Newcastle, England, the band built a strong regional reputation through extensive live performances. Emerging from a progressive rock background, the group incorporated jazz rock elements, favoring extended compositions, complex rhythms, and poetic lyricism. Early line-ups evolved through the 1970s, with the band signing to Transatlantic Records in 1973, though a planned album was never released at the time. From 1973 to 1977, the group refined a sophisticated sound featuring saxophone and keyboards alongside guitar-led arrangements. Touring setbacks and management pressures later steered them briefly toward a more commercial direction. The band disbanded in 1977. In later years, original studio tapes were restored, resulting in the posthumous release Soul Full of Sin, documenting their intended 1973 album.

2020 two disc set with Alive on Arrival and Jackrabbit Slim, plus bonus tracks on each disc. "Released in 1979, Jackrabbit Slim, Forbert's follow-up to his 1978 debut Alive On Arrival, was the album that introduced the Mississippi-born performer to a wide audience. "Romeo's Tune," provided the impetus for that. In an era which tended to favor New Wave sounds, Forbert's eloquently romantic song managed to break through for a #11 spot on the pop charts. That brought people to the rest of Jackrabbit Slim, earning Forbert a loyal following among fans of intelligent, heartfelt singer-songwriter output." - American Songwriter "Listening to the earnest folksiness of his debut, it's hard to imagine Forbert tramping about the mean streets of New York City and dropping in to play at CBGB. Steve Burgh's production adds welcome punch to the recordings, but Forbert's guitar, harmonica and vocals retain a folk-singer's intimacy in front of the guitar, bass, drums, piano and organ. Incredibly, both albums were recorded live-in-the-studio with no overdubs, an impressive feat for a road-seasoned band, but even more so for a young artist's initial studio work. The recording method pays additional dividends in the completeness of the bonus tracks; as complete as the original albums have always felt, the bonus tracks assimilate easily and must have been tough to omit at the time." - No Depression

Stone Temple Pilots Return to Their HardRock Roots on the Heavy No. 4: Brendan O'Brien-Produced Album Explores Dark Themes, Includes the Hit Single "Sour Girl"Hear the 1999 Record in Audiophile Sound for the First Time on Disc: Mobile Fidelity's Numbered-Edition Hybrid SACD Plays with Stellar Dynamics, Presence, and FullnessDismissed as down-and-out by naysayers due to vocalist Scott Weiland's legal issues, Stone Temple Pilots fired a loud shot across the bow in 1999 in the form of No. 4. Blending the strengths of the quartet's three prior LPs while marking a return to it's hardrock roots, the platinum-certified record stands as the heaviest of the California ensemble's career. That it succeeded while flying in the face of trends underlines it's significance and appeal. Massive riffs drive tracks such as the grinding "Down," stormy "Heaven & Hot Rods," and vitriolic "Sex & Violence." These and other songs bulldoze and plow, their muscular arrangements caked with thick sludge and aluminum tones, their sinister moods draped in distortion.Sourced from the original analog tapes and housed in mini-LPstyle gatefold packaging, Mobile Fidelity's hybrid SACD presents No. 4. in audiophile quality for the first time on disc. It plays with a combination of enhanced liveliness, fullness, and solidity that raises the profile of an album that contains a wealth of colors, dynamics, and subtle accents that demand transparent resolution. Rest assured you'll get that here - as well as previously obscured imaging and separation. All the better for an edgy, personal set that remains the group's most uncompromising effort.

The Stooges Make the Ultimate Rock 'n' Roll Statement on Fun House: Primal Punk-Jazz Landmark Is Ranked the 94th Greatest Album of All Time by Rolling StoneExperience the Band's 1970 Effort in Definitive Sound on Disc: Strictly Limited to 2,500 Numbered Copies, Mobile Fidelity's Hybrid SACD Pulses with Energy and Immediacy"Do you feel it?" Iggy Pop asks on "Dirt." The answer is patently obvious for anyone who encounters the Stooges' Fun House. This is a record where unabandoned feeling takes precedence, primal energy surges to the fore, outsider attitude snarls with destructive force, electrifying chaos assumes the form of wild joyousness - all of which might very well be impossible to put into words. Legendary Village Voice journalist Robert Christgau even admitted "language wasn't designed for the job" of conveying what many critics and artists believe to be the ultimate rock 'n' roll statement. Sourced from the original master tapes and housed in mini-LPstyle gatefold packaging, Mobile Fidelity's hybrid SACD plays with enhanced definition, stellar clarity, and realistic ambience. The livein-the-room characteristics and sudden mayhem closely identified with Fun House and Don Gallucci's esteemed production emerge with gripping presence, body, and power. Witness the unrelenting sense of groove; the sheer impact of the rhythms; the ferocity of Pop's heat-seeking vocals; the bruising churn of the low end; the grit, grime, and grind of four dudes and auxiliary saxophonist Steven Mackay bent on breaking into another dimension. The Stooges' most controlled and hot-wired creation, Fun House now adopts the sonic vigor of the atom bomb to which Christgau thought of comparing it. Feel alright, indeed. Fresh from selling out London's Royal Albert Hall, Stornoway return with Beyonder - their most ambitious album to date. Out 25 September via Cooking Vinyl, the record expands the band's sound while holding onto the melodic warmth and sense of wonder that has long defined their music. The album began in one of the most remote corners of the UK. While volunteering as a National Trust ranger on St Kilda, 100 kilometres west of the Outer Hebrides, frontman Brian Briggs spent weeks living among the island's towering sea cliffs, seabird colonies and abandoned settlements. The experience - standing on the edge of the Atlantic with nothing between the island and Canada - sparked the first songs that would become Beyonder. A photograph taken there now forms the album cover."Never have I been anywhere so wild and exposed, and never have I felt more alive," Briggs says of the experience. The stark landscape and the island's layered history - where centuries-old blackhouses stand not far from a modern military base - shaped a record that quietly reflects on connection, fragility and the changing world around us.Beyonder is an album for a changing world. It confronts the biodiversity and climate crises, the rise of divisive politics, and the toll these pressures take on our minds and communities. These are songs about journeys and destinations, discovery and choice, and taken together they cultivate a hopeful state of mind in unsettled times. Musically, Beyonder sees Stornoway stepping beyond the folk label often attached to their early work. The songs feel broader in scale, with expansive arrangements that still centre on the band's distinctive harmonies and clear melodic writing. The album was mixed by multi-Grammy-winning engineer Oli Jacobs (Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, The 1975).

John Strang's sonic journey into psychiatric rehabilitation has been painstakingly reconstructed from cassette tapes and deteriorating studio reels. Composed as a concept album in early 70s, it might have been released on Transatlantic, but the deal fell apart, leaving the recordings buried for 50 years. Charting the experience of mental disintegration and recovery, the album offers an abstract glimpse into the genesis of Strang's later career in psychiatry. The cover, chosen by Strang, is the work of a patient, adding a deeply personal and evocative visual dimension to this long-lost masterpiece.

A sweeping, guitar-driven road trip that recalls and reinvigorates the slowcore and alt rock of the 90s and earlyaughts, Mount Zero, the debut LP from Swapmeet, marks the moment the Australian four-piece come into their own. Following their dreamy 2024 debut EP Oxalis, Mount Zero arrives on the heels of the band's signing to LA-based label Winspear, after stirring up buzz throughout Australia, taking home awards for Best Release and Best Song ("Ceiling Fan") at the South Australian Music Awards and earning the title of 'Best Emerging Artist' at SXSW Sydney. Mingling airy sweetness with jagged surrealism, Mount Zero transmutes so many of the regrets and uncertainties of young adulthood into a burgeoning, newfound confidence. Though the members of Swapmeet often begin their songs by writing individually, the tracks on Mount Zero ended up circling common themes: first loves, first heartbreaks, first embarrassments, first disasters. As they've done since their earliest days as a band, Swapmeet traded instruments throughout Mount Zero and shared production duties as a foursome, developing their sound by layering dozens (sometimes hundreds) of tracks within each song, then carefully removing elements until the production took a clear shape. The result is a record where Swapmeet bottle up the tooth-gritting intensity of feeling yourself change at the cellular level under reality's unyielding pressures. It's a tribute to all the lives that can never be lived, all the paths that will never be followed-and an ode to the one that lies just ahead, too.

Sweeping Promises' introduction to the global punk underground was their debut album, Hunger for a Way Out, which ended up being one of the breakout successes in music during pandemic lockdown. In 2023, they followed up with Good Living is Coming for You, a satirical, hyper-critical rebuke of capitalism that made Album of the Year lists for Pitchfork, NPR, Paste, and BBC, just to name a few. Bassist/vocalist Lira Mondal and guitarist Caufield Schnug decided to tilt their approach a few degrees forward on their third LP. The big theme of You Say I Romanticize is hinted at in it's title. Coming from a lyric sung on album closer "Write Lightly"-a narrative about the importance of self-expression in writing being scrubbed away by "professional" concerns-many of the characters singer/bassist Mondal fleshed out here are outcasts, marginalized by society and turned into fanatics for a cornucopia of specific causes. The visceral songwriting on You Say I Romanticize features an equally visceral musical approach. Sweeping Promises brought live drummer Spenser Gralla into the recording sessions to give the songs a similar urgency to their live show. The frenzy of it's execution also materializes in Mondal's vocal performances.A shadow side exists along with Sweeping Promises' love of their artistic community-borne of weirdos channeling their "outcast" status into vibrant art and punk rock music. You Say I Romanticize takes the ethos Mondal and Schnug have developed and explores the obsessive, fanatical aspects of being ostracized and isolated by mainstream society.

Eddy Undertow, as he is called, could be The Most Interesting Man In Music. We would assume that he'd bristle at the idea being, if not humble, then properly reserved, but the truth is in the story and, to a large extent, in the songs contained in Days Without Names, Sweet Undertow's sophomore album set for release in on July 17, 2026. The album is a cinematic document of a wide-eyed quest for something universal yet tantalizingly undefined, channeled through authentic, bluesy Americana. Recorded at the all-analog studio of producer John Vanderslice (Death Cab for Cutie, Deerhoof, Spoon etc.), it was wrapped up literally the day before the 2020 lockdown shuttered the world. The idea that Days Without Names poses, in it's roundabout way, is that in this meaningless void in which we float- it matters. It matters how you treat people. It matters to be kind. It matters that you try and love. Each layer from the unfathomably vast to the unfathomably tiny is real and matters to itself. People exist; joy and despair are real; you have the power to increase or decrease these in others and yourself. It matters to try and live, to be kind, to temper suffering and to love."When asked what feeling he'd like the listener to be left with after the stylus comes up, Eddy simply says, "That there is hope, even for people."

Birmingham hailing quintet Swim Deep announces their fifth studio album 'Hum', out via Submarine Cat Records. They also share first single 'Pieces Of You' - a defiant cut of alternative rock: roaring with clouds of distortion that bring a bite and rawness to it's chiming melodies. Fresh and inspired from a sold-out tour across Thailand and China in December, and with an unexpected line-up change: 'Hum' is the work of a group rejuvenated, driven by their innate passion for music - even when the going gets tough - and sounding more confident than ever, whilst juggling the challenges of maintaining a grassroots indie band on their fifth album. Speaking on the track, lead singer Austin "Ozzy" Williams adds: "I had found a new writing partner at the full-time bar job: there stood J.J. Buchanan by the barrels of beer kegs we were hauling. A sharp songwriter and a soaring guitarist, who brought something fresh to this song and the whole sonic landscape that would shape 'Hum'. Thematically, 'Hum' continues the life journey of 'There's A Big Star Outside', which captured a transformational period for Williams - preparing for the arrival of his first child, but also the departure of his wife's father. The songs on 'Hum' detail the aftermath of that spell, exploring loss, family and our responsibilities to those we build a life with. "I've now got someone to inspire," he explains. "It's like, 'Yeah, your dad works at a bar to make rent, but this is what he actually does, this is what the dream is, and we'll all live on it together. That's the ethos on this album." With 'Hum', Swim Deep turn struggle into momentum and personal upheaval into collective uplift. It's the band's heaviest, most adventurous, and most uplifting album in years - and the sound of a band still chasing the dream with conviction, but now with something deeper at stake.

Alt-rock legends Switchfoot are back with the new album Forever Now, an epic return to the band’s guitar-driven roots. The project feels less like a collection of songs and more like a defibrillator to the zeitgeist of our times. It’s a return to form that shows why they’ve always mattered and why they absolutely still do. UPC: 4099964243710Label: Bmg Rights ManagemenRelease Date: 6.26.26Format: CD
