The Byrds were one of the earliest groups who could combine the best of two worlds. They caught on to the energy of the British Invasion and combined it with the lyricism and musical elements of the contemporary folk movement. For years Cactus Lee has quietly made records at a relentless pace, plugging along and playing out at local honky tonks in and around his hometown of Austin, Texas.What began as a home recording project for songwriter Kevin Dehan in 2019 quickly became a group with rotating members and pick-up bands along the way. The project has played New York and Los Angeles multiple times, as well as a Chicago residency as part of the Cosmic Country showcase.The new album, Lee's Dream will be released on vinyl February 21 with a special album release show in London, UK at The Lexington. A digital and retail release will follow on April 10, 2026.The album, his second for Western Vinyl, was conceived while on a monthlong solo tour. He stopped at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, where he saw a replica of Guy Clark's basement room."This was the place where he smoked cigarettes, repaired guitars, and recorded songs. There's a wall of cassettes on one side and on the other a guitar hangs with a piece of paper taped on that says 'EASY MONEY.' That stuck out to me as I continued on my travels and became the first song I wrote for this record."The shows on that tour saw Dehan playing to new faces every night in small cities in the Midwest and the South, writing songs in the van en route to the next one."When I got back things in my home life with my family started to get turbulent. It caused me to seriously question whether or not I should be out on the road as much.""I took a little time off. I was able to write, which helped me cope with some serious life events. Music is very important to me, but my family will always come first. My wife and daughter."Dehan took those songs to Billy Horton's Fort Horton Studios in Wyldwood, Texas to record. Similar to his work with Charley Crockett and Theo Lawrence, Horton pushed Dehan toward classic country songs and production choices."Billy has been making classic records out at his studio for a long time, " shares Dehan. "I went in and he started giving me lists of artists who either I reminded him of or who he thought I should push toward in the process of making this album. John D. Dehan took those initial recording sessions with Horton home to put the finishing touches on, with bass and piano being recorded by Jack Montesinos and Joe Roddy from the Point, and Lindsey Verrill of Little Mazarn lending flute and cello. Cage THE ELEPHANT is a Bowling Green, Kentucky-based five piece band consisting of Matt Shultz (vocals), his brother Brad (guitar) and their friends Daniel Titchenor (bass), Lincoln Parish (guitar) and Jared Champion (drums). Matt, Brad and Daniel grew up on an alternative religious commune started by their ex-hippie parents. Alternative Rock-Sounding like a suburban, melodic white-funk-injected version of King Missile's performance art/standup comedy, "The Distance" became a novelty hit in the fall of 1996, sending Cake's second album, Fashion Nugget, to platinum status. Certainly, "The Distance" was the only reason Fashion Nugget went platinum, because the remainder of the album is too collegiate and arcane for mainstream music tastes. It isn't because it's obscure or intellectual - it's because the band is smirking. An "ironic" cover of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" is the key to the album, sending the signal that Cake consider themselves above everyone else, and nothing is too insignificant to make fun of. And that wouldn't necessarily have been a problem if they had the wit or musical skills that would make their music either funny or listenable. Instead, they wallow in sophomoric jokes that rely on self-consciously elaborate wordplay. Occasionally, their blend of collegiate musical styles - funk, hip-hop, alternative rock - makes the music easy to digest in small doses, such as "The Distance," but it isn't varied enough to prevent the album from becoming tedious when played straight through.

Cal Tjader's The Prophet (recorded in 1968 in New York & Los Angeles and released the same year on Verve) captures the vibraphonist at a moment of artistic expansion, blending his signature Latin jazz with a more orchestrated, textural approach. Arranged/conducted by Don Sebesky and produced by Esmond Edwards, the album features an ensemble including Joao Donato (organ), Red Mitchell (bass), Ed Thigpen (drums), and Hubert Laws (flute). Drawing on a broad palette of jazz, Latin, and blues influences, The Prophet reflects Tjader's growing interest in composition and arrangement, balancing melodic elegance with rhythmic sophistication. Several of the album's compositions were written by Brazilian pianist Joao Donato, adding a harmonic warmth and subtle bossa nova influence to the overall character. The Verve Vault series is always mastered from analog tapes and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

Caleb Caudle’s body of work is shaped from the ground up. His artistry has emerged through endurance and the steady momentum of a life in motion, carrying him from small stages in the North Carolina foothills he calls home, all the way to the Grand Ole Opry.
Now, Caudle is entering a pivotal chapter - one of a profound culmination where life and art converge in powerful ways. The recent discovery that he and his wife are going to be first-time parents has added a new perspective, full of the responsibility and wonder that welcoming a child into the world brings.
On his new album, Heavy Thrill, this personal evolution mirrors his artistic journey. He takes full creative control, self-producing for the first time while recording at the storied Cash Cabin in Hendersonville, Tenn., where reverence for tradition meets his singular artistic vision.
“For this record, I wanted to focus on embracing the patina of life,” says Caudle. “Our plans rarely shake out the way we want them to. This record is about doing the most with what you’re given and weathering the storms.”
With the release of this album, Caudle is also launching his own label, aptly named “Handplow Records,” for the steel handplow painted a rusty red that sits in his great uncle’s yard, across the street from his home.
The humble tool was used for generations of tobacco farming in Caudle’s family, its wooden handles worn smooth by years of use stretching back to his great-grandfather. It represents the toil and dedication it takes to do things the hard way - and the sweetness that can yield.
