It's all larger-than-life, darker-than-death, and the best album Creeper have ever recorded. "It seems that the world's getting excessively morbid by the moment out there," says Will Ghould, a man with a boyishly infectious enthusiasm for everything that he does, "I think we need fantasy and fun more than we ever have."?However, if you strip back the layers, you'll find that Creeper's ambitious narratives are rooted in an authentic place, touching on subjects such as friendship, mental health and devastating love. A vital element was the input of producer Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Royal Blood, The Cult) who embraced and encouraged the band's "What would Jim Steinman do?" ethos during sessions at his studio, a converted church - a home-from-home for a record with some blissfully blasphemous edges.

Not all tropical escapes are meant to soothe. Some are meant to seduce... and unsettle. On Haunted Bossa Nova, Creepxotica reimagines the language of classic exotica through a darker, more cinematic lens-where swaying rhythms and lush melodies drift through shadows instead of sunlight. This isn't background music for a carefree afternoon. It's a late-night transmission from a hidden lounge at the edge of a dream. Built on the bones of traditional bossa nova and mid-century exotica, the album pulses with nylon-string guitars, vibraphone shimmer, and hypnotic percussion-but everything feels just slightly off-center, like a memory slipping out of reach. There's a tension beneath the beauty, a sense that something unseen is moving just beyond the music. Each track unfolds like a scene, contributing to a larger atmosphere that's immersive, cohesive, and quietly haunting. What sets Haunted Bossa Nova apart is it's intention. This is not nostalgia for nostalgia's sake-it's a deliberate evolution. Creepxotica honors the lineage of the genre while pushing it into more mysterious territory, blending tropical warmth with ambient unease and cinematic depth. The result feels less like a throwback and more like a lost soundtrack-discovered, not created. Sonically rich and meticulously arranged, the album invites deep listening. Every tone, every pause, every echo has purpose. It's exotica for those who crave mood over kitsch, atmosphere over imitation. For listeners drawn to the edges of jazz, lounge, and ambient soundscapes, Haunted Bossa Nova offers something rare: a fully realized world that lingers long after the final note fades.

Crippled Black Phoenix was formed in 2004 by Justin Greaves as an ever-evolving musical project driven by emotional inquiry and moral tension. Across two decades, the project has built a singular catalogue rooted in human fragility, endurance, and resistance to complacency. 'Sceaduhelm' represents the project's most inward-looking and austere statements to date. Written and recorded between 2023 and 2025, the new album turns away from grand historical narratives to examine emotional erosion, fatigue, and quiet collapse. Rather than a traditional concept record, it unfolds as a unified psychological space, where repetition, restraint, and unease carry as much weight as melody. The songwriting favors slow builds and unresolved tension, resisting catharsis in favour of endurance. Vocals are shared between Belinda Kordic, Ryan Patterson, and Justin Storms, each offering a distinct but complementary perspective within the same emotional terrain. Themes of burnout, memory, violence against the vulnerable, and love already worn thin surface without spectacle. Produced by Justin Greaves and mixed by Iver Sandoy, the sound remains deliberately raw and exposed, avoiding comfort or excess. UPC: 822603019735Label: Season Of MistRelease Date: 4.17.26Format: CD

Pleasure, shame, and survival often arrive tangled together, indistinguishable in the moment. Camgirl, from Crippling Alcoholism, takes that entanglement as it's starting point. Rather than separating desire from damage, the record allows them to coexist, tracing a path through obsession, performance, and persistence without offering clean resolution.Camgirl is the 2025 breakthrough album from Boston's Crippling Alcoholism, a record that frames pop immediacy against obsession, endurance, and collapse. Built from ear-wormy hooks and abrasive noise rock textures, the album smuggles grotesque and confrontational subject matter into songs that remain deliberately melodic. Pleasure and revulsion blend throughout, with choruses that linger even as the lyrics refuse comfort.Released on September 12, 2025, Camgirl follows a loose narrative centered on a sex worker moving through cycles of exploitation and survival, treating intimacy as spectacle and visibility as threat. Songs flicker between desire and despair, confession and performance, flooded with artificial light. Despite it's subject matter, the record resists nihilism. It's closing moments arrive quietly triumphant, not through escape or redemption, but through persistence itself.Originally released on vinyl by Portrayal of Guilt Records, the first pressing of Camgirl sold out quickly. The Flenser reissue makes the album widely available for the first time, reaffirming it as a defining statement from a band operating at the intersection of pop form, noise, and lived experience.

The dazzling Sardinian guitarist returns to the studios for a breathtaking compendium of variation sets, many of them never recorded before, by many of the most enduring names in guitar composition of the last century. Through the course of his long partnership with Brilliant Classics, Cristiano Porqueddu has attracted superlatives and enthusiasm from all corners of the critical press and listeners everywhere. There's no denying the ability of Cristiano Porqueddu,' wrote David Hurwitz in Classics Today, citing the guitarist's 'rich sound and dexterous handling of his instrument.' His colleague Jed Distler noted that Porqueddu's 'nuanced articulation allows him to sustain and spin out legato lines as if his fingers had bows.'Porqueddu's collection of 20th-century variation sets surveys a kaleidoscopic variety of styles and idioms, demonstrating in the process the guitarist's own breadth of vision as well as his virtuosic technique and insightful musicianship. He begins with a monster of the form: the 45-minute sequence of variations on a theme of Fernando Sor, by the US composer Mark Delpriora. Musician and listener are taken on an astonishing tour de force of invention, as Sor's melancholy tune becomes the raw text for vivid pastiches and parodies in the style of canon composers from Beethoven through to Schoenberg and Busoni. Characteristically, set the challenge to 'follow that', Porqueddu does just that, with a work of his own, which takes it's inspiration from Foucault's Pendulum. On the following discs, the withdrawn, lyrical chromaticism presents a compelling contrast with both the Russian romanticism of Boris Asafiev preceding him, and the implacable shadows of the Raighines by Ermanno Brignolo. This last work was composed for Porqueddu himself, while John Duarte's Variations on a Catalan Folksong were composed in 1956 at the suggestion of John Williams; and it is in this distinguished lineage that Porqueddu belongs. Some of the following works inspire wonder at their intricacy (both executive and compositional), such as the interwoven Variants on Two Themes of Bach by Reginald Smith-Brindle, while others major on charm, such as the first set of Mozartiana composed by Porqueddu's teacher, Angelo Gilardino. There's something for everyone. UPC: 5063758966511Label: Brilliant ClassicsRelease Date: 4.17.26Format: CD
Violinist Cristina Prats Costa makes her solo recording debut with Spiritillo Mediterraneo, a vibrant portrait of the sound world of 17th- and early 18th-century music shaped by the cultures of the Mediterranean. Inspired by Andrea Falconieri's Il Spiritillo Brando, the album takes the spiritillo-a mischievous, animating sprite-as a metaphor for the Baroque imagination: a realm of invention, improvisation, and richly ornamented dialogue. The Mediterranean emerges here not as a boundary but as a crossroads, where Italian virtuosity, Spanish rhythmic fire, and French elegance converge. Music by Falconieri, Matteis, Sanz, Murcia, Nebra, Biber, Rebel, and Vivaldi reflects these exchanges, vividly coloured by the use of castanets, which add an unmistakable Iberian rhythmic vitality. The Spanish pieces appear in Cristina Prats Costa's own arrangements, further personalising the album's musical journey.Deeply personal in conception, Spiritillo Mediterraneo also reflects Cristina Prats Costa's own artistic journey. Rooted in her Spanish heritage and shaped by years of performing across Europe, North and South America, and Asia, the album places ornamentation at it's expressive core-not as decoration, but as storytelling. Drawing on Italian brilliance, French refinement, and the earthy pulse of Spanish dance and guitar traditions, these interpretations balance historical insight with an individual voice. The result is a recording of rhythmic energy, intimacy, and colour, guided by a spirit that is curious, agile, and alive. UPC: 8717306265829Label: PentatoneRelease Date: 5.1.26Format: CD

One afternoon, Eric Bachmann's son returned from school with a sheath of pictures he'd drawn, all of them macabre. "There were crows and sinister figures with scythes and tombstones," he recalls. On one, he had written 'DETH, SWET DETH,' and everything clicked in my head." Swet Deth, Bachmann's first album under his Crooked Fingers moniker after a 15-year hiatus, organized itself around the image: it's songs are about death, yes, but there's a sweetness to them, a wry sensibility to his lyrics that comes from having experienced many kinds of death and the life that follows in it's wake. "Crooked Fingers" is a historically slippery concept - no two albums sound alike or feature the same lineup in studio or on tour. Hearing parts in these songs that called for instruments he didn't play or vocals that weren't in his register, he found himself expanding the roster of guest musicians further than he had on any album in his catalog, including Sharon Van Etten ("Haunted"), The National's Matt Berninger ("From All Ways"), and Superchunk's Mac McCaughan ("Cold Waves"). But first he started with family, friends, and frequent collaborators. Jon Rauhouse plays pedal steel. Bachmann's wife, Liz Durrett, contributes vocals, as do members of his touring band, Skylar Gudasz and Avery Leigh Draut (of Night Palace). There is a freedom to this collection of songs, a groove to them that would belie their agonies and anxieties were mere death the album's point and not what comes before. For Eric Bachmann, that has been growth, as a musician and as a man. Like the tree sprouting from the graveyard on it's cover, Swet Deth is surprising and lush, a shock of color against it's morbid landscape, proof of life in the shadow of it's opposite. "RIP Eric Bachmann," one tombstone reads. As Crooked Fingers, he's never felt more alive.

Crooked Oak were a North East English folk group formed in the early 1970s by singer and multi-instrumentalist Steve Evans. Rooted firmly in traditional song and tune, the band combined clear, unaffected vocals with acoustic textures drawn from guitar, whistle, mandolin, dulcimer, and bass. Alongside Evans, Paul Bagley and Jim Fraser helped shape a sound that was direct, melodic, and unembellished, avoiding fashionable excess in favour of strong material and musicianship. Their privately issued 1976 LP is now regarded as a minor classic of British folk, praised for it's atmosphere, sincerity, and emotional depth. In 1977, The Foot O'Wor Stair followed, closing a remarkable chapter for this extraordinary band. UPC: 741869416488Label: Good TimeRelease Date: 5.22.26Format: CD

After famously playing their second show at Woodstock in August 1969, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young spent the rest of the year touring and writing songs for what would become CSNY's 1970 debut, Déjà Vu. Live at Fillmore East, 1969 is a newly discovered multi-track recording of the band's September 20, 1969, concert at the historic Fillmore East in New York City captures an early moment from that first tour. Including both Acoustic and Electric sets, as well as hit tracks such as "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes", "Our House", "I've Loved Her So Long", etc. Stephen Stills and Neil Young compiled and mixed the original eight-track concert recordings at Sunset Studios to keep the production entirely analog. Young recently said: "[We] have the tapes, and they sound so real. We mixed at Sunset Sound - the analog echo chamber, no digital echo. We're staying all analog throughout the production... Pure. Analog. No digital."Track List
