Many of Solomon Burke's singles were remixed or even rerecorded for his albums. Most of his 1965 "Greatest Hits" LP suffered this fate. As a result, some of the cuts on this disc may sound wrong, but actually they are right, because we didn't use the "Greatest Hits" album or any LP's masters as our sources. Yes, revising the revisionists is what we do best at Rhino, and in that spirit only the original mono single master tapes were used - at long last being represented here, available for the first time since the 45s were sold by the thousands and played over AM radios more than 30 years ago. - Bill Inglot, Sound Producer
