HI-FInformation
This stereophonic session was recorded in Hollywood. An Altec 21B microphone was suspended five feet above the conductor's podium to pick up the reeds. Two Telefunken U-47's were arranged in front of the trumpet and trombone sections, respectively. An RCA 44BX on a boom was used to pick up all solos, except amplified guitar. Bass and guitar worked to an Altec 639, while drums and percussion; RCA 77DX; and piano, RCA 44BX. Miss Olay worked behind an isolation screen to a Telefunken U-47. A Telefunken U-47 on either side of the studio about 7 feet in front of the musicians and eight feet from the studio floor picked up the direct right and left stereo channels, augmented by the accent mikes.
