Description
War Blends Latin, Caribbean, and American Music into a Seamless Rhythmic Hybrid on The World Is a Ghetto: Influential Album Features the Hit Title Track and No. 2 Smash Cisco the KidExperience the Biggest-Selling Record of 1973 in Vivid Fashion: Mobile Fidelity's Numbered-Edition Hybrid SACD Presents the Band's Funk, R&B, Blues, and Gospel in Clear, Dynamic SoundThe chart-topping milestone that broke War through to the mainstream started out as an idea for a play. While the latter idea was abandoned, The World Is a Ghetto took shape as a creative juggernaut that lyrically confronts social ills, prejudice, and injustice all the while it's fusion-based arrangements blend Latin, Caribbean, and American styles with seeming effortlessness and total coherency. R&B, Latin, ska, psychedelia, funk, blues, jazz, gospel, classical: the album blends, boils, and brews them into a colorful stew. The group's robust percussion, curling guitars, soulful melodies, and hybrid structures serve one constant: grooves whose casual, cool nature drops you amid a throng celebrating at a summer block party.Sourced from the original analog master tapes, mastered by engineer Vic Anesini, and housed in mini-LP-style gatefold packaging, Mobile Fidelity's numbered-edition hybrid SACD presents The World Is a Ghetto in definitive audiophile sound. It helps render everything from the satiny rush of the horns to the depth, solidity, and grip of B.B. Dickerson's bass in unmistakable clarity. As if unfolding within the frame of a massive proscenium arch, the mix of pianos, timbales, congas, bongos, harmonicas, clarinets, group voices, and more occupy their own space and extend far and deep on a vast soundstage. Zoom, zoom, zoom: The best-selling album of 1973 has never been better on disc.Numbered Hybrid Stereo SACDNUMBERED SPECIAL EDITION
