Robert Callender's rare 1976 concept album Le Musée de l'Impressionnisme began with daily museum visits in Paris and grew into an immersive "museum" staged at Trude Heller's in Greenwich Village. It's 20-part musical tour moves through Monet, Renoir, Degas, Morisot, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec and Bazille, binding soul, jazz, funk, rock, calypso and theatrical narration into a gallery without walls. With sessions starting at Columbia's legendary 30th Street Studio in New York before Callender, guitarist Mark Suozzo and a large ensemble completed the album at Long View Farm. Originally released only by Philips in the Netherlands, this artist-approved 50th Anniversary Edition is the album's first official CD release. Digipak CD with an illustrated 20-page booklet of new notes, rare photographs and period ephemera, newly remastered by Prof. Stoned.
