Overnight Bags is the new 2026 studio album from John Howard - the British singer-songwriter whose 1975 debut Kid in a Big World, recorded at Abbey Road and Apple Studios, earned a ""work of genius"" from Uncut upon it's 2003 reissue and launched one of the more remarkable second acts in contemporary pop. Now seventy-three, Howard writes with the ease of someone who has stopped trying to impress anyone: eleven songs of melodic, piano-led pop that move freely between Chelsea King's Road name-dropping, a Soho pub memory, reflections of his first day entering Abbey Road Studios in April 1974, a Mykonos elegy for the AIDS generation, a father's Alzheimer's, and a title track set in the transient world of the touring actor. Produced, arranged, and mixed by Howard himself at La Casita Studios in Spain. Mastered by Prof. Stoned.
