Demuir makes house music with the sort of feeling and character that defined the earliest days of the sound. Gospel, funk, jazz, and much more all color his grooves next to a superb array of samples, and all of that is on display across "The Intersecting Virtues of Love and Respect", a new album packed with jams. 'TIVLR - Moment Of Clarity' has neat organ chords worked into a soulful, dusty groove; there is an infectious bubble to the drums and molten chords of 'Alone In Chicago' and 'Somethin 'Bout Respect' is smooth, free-flowing analog house with jazzy fingers dancing across the keys. Elsewhere, 'Know Thy Value' is deeper and more heads down and 'Speak Power To Your (Black) Man' is a freewheeling and sunny sound anchored by more trademark Demuir drums.
