"For Jukeboxes Only"
The Capitol colored vinyl 45s are the rarest stock-copy Beatles singles ever released in the U.S.; there were between 10,000-20,000 copies pressed of each "FOR JUKEBOXES ONLY!" 45. This was a sign of the times; by the mid-nineties the era of the 45RPM record seemed to be over. Juke-jobbers, for whom the series was created, had already moved to CD jukeboxes. They didn't want the records, so Capitol sold them to chain stores and mail-order companies just to get rid of them. The rarity of the 30 colored vinyl Beatles 45s is impressive compared to the countless millions of '60s orange-and-yellow swirls and the immense flood of orange, blue, and purple-label reissues of the '70s and '80s. The entire series includes eleven singles that had never before appeared as U.S. 45s (and two others with alternate flip sides).
